I disagree whole heartedly. I think the HW of today would mop those guys. Tim Sylvia? Randy was nice but a bit small for today’s guys. Arlovski was a mad dog but would get KOd by Francis. The current HW division is the strongest it’s ever been. LHW I think is 50/50

Most of the guys Jones rampage and em were fighting were guys who knew one martial art then tried to learn more. Nowadays if your in the UFC you already great at multiple martial arts. That's the reason Jon Jones a versatile fighter was able to smash his way thru the legends of this era. Cuz their skillset was outdated asf. His unique guard was perfect for mma and streetfights. Block with the elbow parallel with the nose and slightly angle off with the opponents incomin blow. Magnificent. I'm surprised more mma fighters haven't emulated Rampages guard when in boxin range instead of still tryna block with the small glove which is nowhere near as effective.

Example: at around 3:35 onward, the moment wandy moves his left foot to throw a jab, rampage immediately reacts and throws his own jab even before wandy could land anything. As well as the finishing sequence, rampage really telegraphed all of wandy's hooks and perfectly timed his own left hook to drop wandy. Rampage had quick reaction times, man.

Wanderlei had really sharp technique in his kicks, knee's, and grappling. His hands were a double edged sword. His punches made him awkward, and dangerous but because of their looping nature they really opened him up for the counter punches, and got him KO'd as fighters learned how to defend against them. If you didn't study him, he was a monster, if you had tape on him, and knew great boxing technique, he was in trouble.
