    I once went to a party and brought a bottle of Hypnotic. We’re taking 20 years ago. It was a conversation starter. One guy thought you had to pronounce it with a French accent. Another woman accused me of trying to act like P Diddy. Those were the days!

    I like Ben Affleck. Agree he is going through something and it is affecting his work but I have a soft spot for sci-fi thrillers so I'm still going to watch this.
    I kind of feel bad that he and JLo got back together because I don't think it's each other that they want but rather their old selves that they miss.

    That hpnotiq drink looks terrible haha! I'm 22 and am blessed to be able to search the internet so when I bought my first bottle legally, I ended up enjoying it. I bought a bottle of Angel's Envy bourbon to sip on, and it was good neat, on the rocks, or with a little orange juice. I didn't think the movie was a 1/5, but it was bad. I'd give it a 2.5

    It's interesting, I once saw Robert Rodriguez do a film class at a horror film festival I attended. It's clear he has a method to his madness when it comes to putting a film together (especially a smaller-budget one), and it's worked for him quite a bit in the past. And it's clear the guy knows his stuff when it comes to making these films and about cinema in general. Yet sorta like Kevin Smith (both he and Rodriguez being indie filmmakers who got their start in the '90's making small-budget cult films and have since gone on to inspire a new generation of filmmakers), I really wish their more recent titles were up to the fluff of their previous works. It's like both Rodriguez and Smith have lost some of the charm that they had at the start of their careers, and their declines have been sad to see because of how much you're rooting for them. Heck, with this one, I didn't even know Rodriguez had a new movie coming out!

    • @JamminOnThe1
      @JamminOnThe1 Рік тому +1

      I tried watching Clerks 3 and just could t get through the first 10 minutes. I couldn’t get over the sad fact that these characters never got beyond their clerk jobs 30 years ago.
      Robert Rodriguez really got bad mouthed by Rose McGowan in her autobiography (which surprisingly is a good book). She painted out to be super controlling and insecure and possessive of her. But beyond that, yes, he hasn’t make a good movie in a long time.

    Also, you seemed to fail to mention that both Ben Affleck’s character & his wife’s had sought up that plan from the get go. They did not want there daughter to be in the program, so they faked her kidnapping. They had her come stay with Ben’s Character’s foster parents. When the daughter was powerful enough, Ben’s character drew everyone in the Division to his foster family’s house. The clue referred to the location of the house and not a person. The daughter was now powerful enough to kill everyone in the Division. However, there seems to be a plothole as to how Ben’s character was able in scenario 13 to remember their plan and execute it. Because we are shown scenario 12 and when Ben sees the note, he is genuinely perplexed. Yet after being reset, in scenario 13, right before he discovers the note, Ben remembers everything and executes the plan. I think that the answer is love. The love that Ben’s character had for his family, is what caused his subconscious to remember everything when the time was right. That is what he pretty much explained to the director of the Division at the end of film.

      @@jacobstaten2366 yes it's true, but where are the brazilian characters? There are practically no Brazilian characters in American films, so many Brazilian actors are forced to play other Latino characters from other countries.

    • @jacobstaten2366
      @jacobstaten2366 Рік тому

      @@Fernanda-ne3ef that's part of my point. In some cases, the character is region specific region (case in point). Some aren't specified in the script and it would be nice to just grab someone like her at random.
      She did play a Brazilian woman in Red Belt as a kind of minor antagonist because her husband (the protagonist) trained in Brazilian Jujutsu under her father and was teaching in America. That's the only example I can think of.

    I still drink Hypnotiq sometimes; it's good with some kind of tropical juice: pineapple, mango, etc. The movie doesn't really sound like something Robert Rodriguez would direct. Why is it that it takes a whole fan movement and overwhelming test screening scores to get a decent film like "Evil Dead Rises" a theatrical release, when something like "Hypnotic" goes to the theaters?

  • @DazzleNews

    This film actually reminds me more of Shutter Island & Memento. The actor who played Freddy Kruger in the recent remake, is also in this film and Shutter Island. I feel that his casting is a callback to Shutter Island. Also, Ben Affleck leaving himself little notes is a callback to Memento. Guy Pearce’s character had psychosomatic short term memory loss. Therefore, he left himself little notes to remember what Joey Pants’ character did to him.
