Thank you very much for this comparison, very cool ! Useing different perfect styles of playing, makes the decision not easy which model is favorite. But for me the 59' Custom has a little advantage. Thank you for this video !
I'm only 5 years late to the party what party exactly 59 sounds amazing and so does that purple sparkle both beautiful instruments something about the 59 maybe it's all in my head but it seems a little more defined thank you for the videos
Hey Robbby, thanks for checking out the video... I would agree with you... I am not sure that anyone to tell live, but alone and in the studio, the 59 had a little more kick to it... I know a sparkle finish can mut an instruments resonance a bit, but the 59 did sound better
Hi from Dublin. This is a fantastic video. Thanks very much. I probably prefer the AC as it seems to have a slightly edgier growl to the tone. Thanks again. Niall
Hey Niall, thanks for listening and you have an exceptionally good ear. To sit here and play them live, you would find the same thing.... the AC just has a little more bite to it. Thanks again and keep thumping in Dublin!!
The Adam Clayton looks gorgeous, however I prefer the tone of the custom shop precision. It is also funny to see that they costed $1900 and $2800 (respectively).. Now they cost a lot more (double the price)
I’m happy I grabbed a Clayton purple precision before the prices went up. A precision bass with a jazz neck has always been a dream bass. I know they made some like custom shops. But it’s fairly rare to find a USA or standard model precision bass with the slimmer jazz neck profile.
Hi Frank, the Clayton is about $1900 and the Custom Shop is about $2800. Is it worth the difference? If you are looking for a bass that VERY closely emulates the experience of having a real vintage P bass, then yes, definitely. If you are simply looking for a good P, then either will do. Remember also that the Clayton has the Custom Shop pickups, so they will sound similar - thanks for watching!
You cannot compare Abby wound (Clayton p bass) vs. factory machine wound 59 pickup which is also overwound. Definitely more dynamics with Claytons obviously (if you know how coil windings work with tone ofc) its always a matter of taste...59 seems more into face thanks to overwound, more oval/even sound in comparison to Clayton´s high mid focused tone.
I have this clayton bass and I'm lucky that I got one. I went to the store for a new set of strings and walked out with a new bass lol. I'm pretty sure it has a 60's custom shop pickup but I could be wrong. But that would be awesome if it does have an Abby wound pickup
Beautiful basses... Sweet sound demonstrations... Thanks a bunch for the video.
I appreciate the feedback and thanks a lot for listening!!

It sounds to me like the Clayton had rounds and the '59 had flats. I'm flats guy, but I have a line on a Clayton and I'm considering it.
Good point. The 59 has more of a midrange punch. The Claytons are made really well and I think a good value for there money - thanks for listening
This Bass is my deram . i live in Brazil , and here is Very expensive fender instruments
May your dream cone true! God bless you!!
I preferred the Custom Shop. That could just be a difference in the type of strings it was using though. It sounded warmer. More "retro."
I agree - thanks for listening!
For me it's the '59 each time, but they are not always direct comparisons on the tone setting.
You are 100% correct. Thanks for watching!
Clayton has a bit smoother all around sound!
What's the difference in price? Thanks!

Because of the $900 price differential I would get the Clayton. Besides I already have a matching purple sparkle telecaster!
I understand... and I personally love sparkle Teles.... I just picked up a blue one. :-)
Very nice basses. Especially the purple one. Might sounds lot better when palyed by a bass player.
Buy each of them and review them for us, oh great one.

Yeah the Abby pickups were on the custom shop gold version of the Clayton P bass. The purple has the 60’s custom shop pickup
I’ll take the Custom shop for 20 steve
:-)
かっこいい!!
