Your name, Claire, means clear. And you were very clear!
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Claire, this was way more helpful than anything I learned on Substack itself. After a year at Substack, somehow I still never noticed that little camera icon up there not far from italics. If you ask Substack, they actually have no idea how to make a video on Substack. Following you, I made and posted my first video on Substack in just a few minutes! Thank-you!
Oh delighted I could help!
I love that you went over this video feature as I was curious about it! Do you know if Substack prevents people from right clicking and downloading your videos?
I don't think it's possible... I only embed from youtube though... I don't like their video uploader....
thank you for your reply!
Great video. How do I paywall a video, so people watch three minutes but have to subscribe to watch the other seven?
Hi David - I have an update on video you can check that out here - you get to choose how long your preview is in the video uploader... sparkleon.substack.com/p/substack-videoa-test
Thanks for that. Unfortunately what I need is more technical. I've looked and looked and can't find what button to press o choose the length of the preview. The video uploader on my computer is super-simple with no buttons that look like they would do this. Can you help?@@creativelyconsciousUK
TLDR: Substack offers various options for incorporating videos into posts, but users should be mindful of potential technical issues and consider the best format for engaging with their audience.
00:00 🎥 Use video on Substack to engage with your audience, but be aware of potential technical issues.
00:36 📹 Edit your post title, subtitle, add a guest writer, and record or upload a video directly into Substack.
01:27 📹 Use the video button to insert a video into a normal post on Substack.
02:02 💡 You can now post multiple videos within a Substack post, and you have the option to edit and embed videos into the text.
03:02 📹 You can embed a UA-cam video on Substack instead of uploading a raw Zoom file or recording directly into Substack.
03:53 📹 Substack videos are different from podcast posts, as they cannot be edited and are all pushed into the main section, but it is possible to choose a section for scheduled posts.
04:58 📹 Use post format instead of video on Substack for better display and SEO, and consider sending video posts to paid members over the summer.
