Political cabaret from Germany is the perfect example of ultra-dry humor. But where comedy just pokes fun at anything by creating absurd ideas from thin air, political cabaret makes fun of a situation by exposing the absurdity of reality by making people connect the dots themselves. This cognitive dissonance of what you percieve as reality and the actual reality is made so glaringly obvious that you can't but come to the conclusion the cabaretist wants you to make. Which is revealing the insanity and absurdity of a real situation in humorous fashion. By being able to laugh about a situation that is actually worthy of spilling tears about, people come to recognize the reality without becoming despondent and depressed. But to make that transition so effortless takes the skill and talent of someone like Volker Pispers.
I also need to say, you are a very open minded, sympatic american through and through. I am shure many american people would never react like that, they would be upset. But everything V.Pispers telling here is true, is prooven and can be prooved by everyone. greetings from a german guy.

I think I know what you wanted to say. Nevertheless, I would like to add that Germans do not have sovereignty over knowledge. Especially nowadays. There are just as many Germans who don't understand the background and also have a lack historical knowledge. The minority of Germans understand the background of the actual Ukrainian conflict. Because of the propaganda on German TV. As an example. No one talks about Odessa on German TV. By the way. Only the middle or upperclass watched Volker Pispers performances. Poor people don’t have the desire to watch political cabaret.
And even that is too late. The Yankees aren't covering up things anymore, they flood the world with fake news and moral panics, so nobody knows what ist true and what is false. A counter to postmodernism still has to be found ...
Tbh, I don't know how often I watched your reaction good sir, but I really like how you gonna go loud when Volker says something funny. Although the stuff he says isn't funny at all, what the US did back then in the Middle East and South America was horrific. But it's good that more people learn about it. Let's just hope that more and more will see this, and realise that the leaders and men of higher standing in the USA, past and present, commited terrible crimes they should all be held responsible for.
2 quotes from the Wikipedia and the Encylopaedia Britannica: 1. Kabarett is the German word for the French word cabaret but has two different meanings. The first meaning is the same as in English, describing a form of entertainment featuring comedy, song, dance, and theatre (often the word "cabaret" is used in German for this as well to distinguish this form). The latter describes a kind of political satire. Unlike comedians who make fun of all kind of things, Kabarett artists (German: Kabarettisten) pride themselves as dedicated almost completely to political and social topics of more serious nature which they criticize using techniques like cynicism, sarcasm and irony. 2. It retained the intimate atmosphere, entertainment platform, and improvisational character of the French cabaret but developed its own characteristic gallows humour. By the late 1920s the German cabaret gradually had come to feature mildly risque musical entertainment for the middle-class man, as well as biting political and social satire. It was also a centre for underground political and literary movements. [...] They were the centres of leftist of opposition to the rise of the German Nazi Party and often experienced Nazi retaliation for their criticism of the government.
The 60 Minutes interviewer, Leslie Stahl, asked Albright: "We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?" Former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, replied: "I think this is a very hard choice. But the price-we think the price is worth it." (May, 1996)
