C/U Face of seller. People milling around outside entrance to the circuit. Many carry luggage. People walk near pit lane. People find places in the grandstand. People buy race lists. People finding places to sit. Man throws Martini adverts into crowd. Group of men in crowd play cards. People sit around table eating lunch. C/U man in cap eating. High angle shots of crowd, some have made paper hats to protect themselves against the sun.
Cars drive in from the paddock into the pit lane. Mercedes cars pushed into the pits. Ken Dickson reverses his Triumph TR2 into his spot in the pit lane. C/U work on Cunningham's Jaguar. Various cars are checked over. Man wearing strange umbrella type hat to protect him from the sun. Tools laid out on car bonnet. Man checking engine of car. Man checking tyres on Bristol car. He wears Dunlop overalls. Men making notes, lots of tools and parts are lying on the cars. People walk around cars.
Cars are filled with petrol. Tanks sealed. C/U seal. Various drivers chatting, including Stirling Moss. Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton leave caravan after briefing by Jaguar team. Parnell and Collins of Aston Martin. Maglioli of Ferrari seated in car with polka dot hat. Colin Chapman of Lotus checks his car. Lance Maklin and wife. Juan Fangio walks along pit lane wearing driving hat. Pit lane shots. Driver puts on hat. Last minute car check. Crowd look on in anticipation of the start of the race. High angle shot of pit lane. Drivers line up opposite cars ready for the start.
High angle shot of pit lane. Drivers stand ready to run to their cars. The drivers run to their cars. They get in and the cars begin to race away. One car (number 27) doesn't appear to get started. The camera follows the cars as they stream out of the pits.
They drive out under the Dunlop bridge.
Cameras follow the progress of the race. Various adverts are seen on billboards around the track. Included in the advertisements are Esso, Dunlop, Castrol, Lucas - the usual motor racing suspects. Crowd shots are inter cut. Men with stopwatches make notes on lap times. More racing shots. Various types of car go past - Jaguar, Triumph TR2, MG, Ferrari. Man sitting up tree watching race. Odd shaped "Twin boom Nadi" (sp?) Italian car has to use the escape road and turns around to return to the race. More racing shots. Mercedes using aerodynamic brake (piece of metal raised up on back of car to catch air - very strange design). Closer shot of Mercedes using the brakes as they go past a camera position. Men in the pits with charts and stopwatches to ensure go time keeping. C/U young boy wearing cap watches race. More cars past the camera. People in pits drink tea. More racing shots.
