Why dressing are different some group wearing long pant and cap and some group wearing half pant and cap black..? Anyone explain please

Both are types of uniform half pants are called 8S and full pant are called 8A

the main difference is some people are doing GP rating and CCMC certificate course and full pants are doing degree course .cadets have full pants uniform while rating crew has half pant uniform.similarly caps are different.
