- Annotated video: A circular "sightseeing-flight" departure from New York's central LaGuardia Airport in the tightly confined airspace sandwiched between Newark and JFK airports. One full climb circle later, the nearly continuous left-loop ascent takes this departing EMB 175 back over LaGuardia Airport before proceeding directly south over mid-field JFK to fly south toward Sandy Hook, New Jersey, on this scenic 6,000-foot-cruising-altitude short hop to Philadelphia.

A viewer in New Zealand loving this video!
Couple of other notes: 41:00 - USS New Jersey. 41:19 - Comcast Center, corporate headquarters. (41:29 - my house) 42:17 - the little white one is the Wells Fargo, the huge stadium is Lincoln Financial Field-Home of the Philadelphia Eagles. 42:29 - Philadelphia Navy Yard
Beautiful video.
E-190, from Embraer, one of the pride we have in Brazil.
Nice to have the sights pointed out. Thanks.
Wow, a takeoff heading E on Runway 13 and then the usual hook but you really got a great view as I'm surprised he didn't take you out over New Jersey. Seeing Manhattan from that altitude from an Eastern perspective over Queens and Brooklyn and over the Bay over N Jersey is a fly out I've never seen. Nice view of Philly also.
So cool how close NYC & Philly are...Philly has more buildings than I thought.
they're still 2+ hours away by car but it's still not bad!
The problem is that it is not well defined. Edmund Bacon, Kevin Bacon (actor) dad had plans for the main streets (Market and Broad) to contain all of the larger buildings. So it is along these two main drags that all of the skyscrapers exist. So, it lacks definition/dimension like other major cities. Also, the heights of the buildings were dramatically impacted for years by the Wm. Penn gentlemen's agreement to build nothing taller than Billy Penn (City Hall). It wasn't until the 80s that tall skyscrapers became in vogue. Lastly, the terrible tax burden to companies veer people away from wanting to invest here. and NYC is only 80 miles away.
@@rwr773 New York taxes are higher and the cost of living is way higher than Philadelphia. I LIVE in Philadelphia and FOUR(4) of my neighbors are New York transplants who moved to Philly as thousands of others have in the past ten years. Please DO NOT mention costs and attempt to downgrade New York’s costs. Have a conversation with my new neighbors from nyc. FACTS.
I was once on a flight from PHL to DCA, and we probably didn't get much more than 6k ft off the ground. Go figure, I was actually connecting through DCA to get to BOS.
LaGuardia to Phila? What's that, like a 5 minute flight?
Great video! Born and raised in NJ so I can relate to this entire trip from NY to Philly.
My mom's side of the family is from Philly. Used to love those Philly cheesesteaks when visiting them there.
Really enjoy your videos and this is another excellent one. I also like the view of retired ocean liner SS United States at 41:33 of video. Sailed on that ship as a youngster many, many years ago from NYC to LeHavre France. Looking forward to your next videos. Cheers.
+lake barcroft Thanks for viewing & commenting! Glad you spotted something that means so much to you. Cheers to you, too!
Nice ride. Too bad it was a bit hazy. Went thru there several times when I was trucking.
I also remember watching the one scene from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), who was on top of the World Trade Center viewing the skyline taking pictures.
New Yorkers are arrogant assholes
Nice. Perfect view of my old home in long branch NJ along the shore, my old stomping grounds! Thanks!
NY/NJ assholes
Glad you enjoyed it
I'd take Amtrak. Center city to center city. 125 mph across most of NJ. Slower but cheaper would be New York to Trenton on CNJ. Change to SEPTA and down to Philadelphia. Great advantage if you live or visit along the route and don't have to go into either city!
Had no idea that jet airliners, albeit small ones like this one, fly at a low 6,000 foot cruising altitude on a ~40 minute flight. It takes maybe 45 - 50 mins to fly from LAX to SFO, and those flights always get up to ~30,000 ft + or - a couple thousand ft. I was on an AA flt on that route and cruising alt was 26,000 feet. For whatever that’s worth. Anyway, nice videos you post. Happy Landings.
Thanks for upload 👍🇺🇸
Well done trip report. Nice to see some effort going into it instead of just pointing the camera.
Must be in 1st Class, no wings and engines blocking the view! Awesome.
Arrogant New Yorker asshole
Just came back from a trip to Atlanta from Philly. The actual flight was only an hour and 30 minutes but with check in, security, delays, boarding, flight and reversal after landing it was a 7 hour ordeal. That saved me a 16 hour drive so yes it's a no brainer but why go through all that when you could drive from NY to Philly in 2 1/2 hours? By the time you got on the plane you could have been there by then. Just saying, not sure what circumstances some people have.
Just 90 minutes flight time between Philly and Atlanta?
13:20- New Rochelle, NY
The S.S. United States is briefly visible at the very bottom middle of the screen at 41:34. Her two distinctive stacks help identify this once mighty trans-Atlantic ocean liner.
Excellent....just subbed👍
Thank you! :D
Wait, you can’t use your phones on a flight?
13:59- Yankee Stadium
I always pay attention to the Flight Attendant. Safety first!
I always pay attention to the flight attendant if they are sexy.
Why did the plane do a 360 over LGA before heading SW?
Do a web search for “LGA SID’s” (Standard Instrument Departure). I couldn’t figure out how to paste the exact link here. There are 6 or 7 SID’s for LGA, a few of which look to involve some sort of a “climbing turn” after takeoff. Others more familiar with these SID’s (a.k.a. pilots) could chime in to better answer your question. But I hope this was at least a start for you. Happy Landings. 🛬
@@airbusthreethirty3416 Although dated if 13 was being used and the turn out was to the North, it looks like the Laguardia 7 SID to the Flushing Climb
_Climb heading 134 to LGA 2.5 DME_ (fancy way of saying 2.5 NM from the LGA VOR on the 134 Radial), _then climbing left turn 050, maintain 5000, thence except vectors to assigned route/fix_
41:37 IKEA😁
28:12 McGuire afb and right before that navy Lakehurst
14:13- Riker's Island
A place nobody wants to be inside.
41.34, at bottom is the once Grand Lady The USS "United States" with the two stacks. Hope they can do something with her since she's been there and deteriorating for decades.
when u gonna take a bus journey again i love those
Great view of the Statue of Liberty down there🗽. And the Empire State Building too! Just love living in America due to American Airlines. I always pay my respects to the 911 Memorial since 2001 those 2 twin towers went straight down. God Bless America people!!
Spotted my old high school in Middletown, lol. Just a whitish smudge though.
why you need airplane to Philadelphia ? take a walk
“No electronic devices are allowed on this flight”
*films the entire thing with a camera*
When all that someone is doing is recording a video with their phone, they're not really doing anything which will cause interference between the pilots and control towers. To create that interference, you'd need to be doing something which sends signals outside of the plane such as phoning, texting, e-mailing, or getting on the internet. The captain still advises to not use the devices at all to be on the safe side, and not everyone may know how to record a video on their phone without absentmindedly pushing something to log onto the internet, etc. These people filming these flight videos are being careful and not going onto the internet to post these videos to UA-cam until after the planes have landed. I hope.
Wouldn't have been cheaper/quicker just to take the train?
This little hop was a connection feeder to hook up to a long haul flight out of Philadelphia. Yes, you're right, otherwise, I would have paid $10, etc. for Megabus, Boltbus, or Greyhound. :D
That makes sense other wise these flights seem pointless
It's funny, but I have never had the urge to visit anywhere around that part of the country. Too crowded, polluted, and noisy.
13:37- Co-Op City
Where I grew up.
They don't fly you out much using this runway.
Probably faster taking the NJ TurnPike.
Why would anyone fly 96 miles? It's not like its the Hawaiian Islands or something.
very unsual because many people drive the njtp whi
ch connects both cities!
who flys from ny to philly I mean yea its quicker just drive I know ways where u don't have to pay tolls lol
People with money 💰 that’s who.
PHL is a hub for AA. Most people on this flight were likely connecting onwards and not terminating in PHL.
Connecting flights where you’re not leaving security check area.
Flying from one slum to another slum!
U will get there in 30 mins lol
Centre City* Philadelphia (Not Downtown)
That's right. I've had family from Philly and they always called it Center City. Alot of outsiders don't know that, I suppose. I've also known people who've called Broadway and Central Park downtown. No, it's Midtown.
American airlines where we charge u extra for everything. Want to breathe during the flight that will be an extra 35....🤣🤣🤣 thank god i stop flying them years ago
Too bad this video is spoiled by the stomach-churning motion smoothing software of this phone camera. If you are not serious enough to operate a camera properly, don't post videos that make someone ill.
why on earth would you fly to philly actually anywhere in the us for that matter
I just found the dumbest comment of the decade, literally in the last few hours of the decade.
