wow, it was 5 years ago, but i still remember when we do this video. yeah, i am that girl, and now when i watch this i have tears in eyes, becouse this man died, i VERY LIKED him. it was so funny to record with him...i miss these days...
The old man is on his death bed dying when an angel comes to him and sets his spirit free, helping him to remember his innocence along the way to eternity.
I love this song and video. I see the message of an old man at the end of his rope. He is lost and scared like a child. Just like that first day in school when you are alone and afraid, a friend came to him and brought him peace and tranquility. Really blows the perspective a society has of old people, they are all just big children wanting what this girl brought him.
The voices in my head are shadows, shadows She comes to me, to tell me what they're after Says it ain't the end boy but you best be careful, careful Might catch your tail end in a circle, circle The ocean how she moves in ripples, ripples In flashing lights I swear she was an old film Then the color bleeds and she becomes an angel, angel, hmm Calls out to me like a siren to a scoundrel I say come on child, and I say come on child The blanket where she hides by virgin lights Look to the sea where the cotton hits the turnpike Staring at her needs but I don't have the words right, words right now If up to me might make her turn right, turn right Lost another one but she still smiles, smiles Black lovin' eyes and a stare that sees for miles Says she wants to be, oh wants to stay a child, child now And wonders why we ever ever have to die And I say come on child and I say come on child Just a touch I'm gonna carry, carry Another time where our palm shared the same line The accent of a kiss whispers we're married, married now It's either love or just the sun in my eyes and I say come on child And I say come on child Love love love love love
Andrzej Makowiecki was born in 1944. He is an actor, known for The Girl from the Wardrobe (2013), Lesne doly (2011) and Referee of Attention (2014). He died on March 22, 2016 in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland.
I'm watching this wonderful and poignant music video again tonight because my father is dying of cancer and it reminded me of it, and what do I hear, now ? That the old dude has passed away ? Jesus fucking Christ. All right... let's say that life is but a dream...
As my grandma gets older and her memory is fading, I often think of this video. I remember she needs to have fun, good deep belly laugh fun. The more fun we have, the more her whole being has brightened. Never stop doing the silly things.
You're never too old or too young to find joy in your life. Enjoy every moment no matter what your circumstances are. That is the message I got from this video and that is exactly what I intend to do with my life. Thank you, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for another beautiful video with a beautiful message!
Found this song when my old man had a stroke for a time he was non verbal and I could tell he was trying to remember who I was. He's made a full recovery and he's back but everytime I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes.
tears. honestly, such an amazing song/video. I've spent my entire night breaking this song down into pieces to try to understand as best possible. Wow, just wow
I had forgotten about that MV! So sweet, as cute as the little girl, and vivid, and poetic... that editing work... When the music video is as gorgeous as the song... there is no stronger artistic experience, not in my mind, at least.
This is a very dear and vivid portrait of a man collecting his relationship with his Anima. The venerable Carl Jung would say this man is touching his very soul - his conduit to God and consciousness. So often this anima takes the form of a young girl for men and reconnects them with the forgotten/unknown parts of his psyche. This is of the most holiest experiences. The song writer must have intuited this. Kudos!
2 year onward alive free and well from 2020 where I was comatose in the ICU after they DNR’d the flame of life that I clung to. I saw my little girl before me while lost in the inky dark depths of coma, and there she guided me back ❤️
yes :( and then towards the ends his soul has departed and he becomes a 'child' as well. WOW such a powerful meaning. I had chills through the entire song.
I am a great grandmother for a yr now. I have a total of 7 GRANDCHILDREN and I embrace every moment we can share! STILL IN SHOCK I WAS A GREAT GRANDMOTHER AT AGE 56!!!
God I love this song and Lullaby the most out of all their stuff, both such heartfelt and calming standouts. I really feel this video and the lyrics talk about the perspective of someone on their deathbed with dementia. The girl is his, probably, wife who he sees through a distorted view of being much younger. She comes to the hospital and tries to help him make sense of the voices in his head, so he isn't chasing his own thoughts, and he sees her with an idealised view, himself a scoundrel and her a siren, her bathed in light while him in the dark of the shadows. She still smiles even though other patients are dying around them, and they both know he will die soon too. He escapes, probably by himself, and imagines he goes on a little adventure with this 'child', experiencing things with a newness and joy which seem childlike. In the bus scenes and the market scenes where the girl steals the apple and he eats it with her, notice how the passersby all seem to look at him rather than the child, as if hinting that it's actually only him there. Then, when the boy comes into the video, I reckon he represents himself as a younger person, and he gets more and more in touch with himself and his memories. Whatever the meaning, it's so fucking beautiful, damn.
ugh. no one brought me here. I love Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros way before most media and public figures mention them, and I love this music video so much. "Here" is one of the most amazing album, and truly one of my personal favorites. "Child" was on constant replay for me during the first few weeks of "Here"'s release, watching this was as intriguing as ever, and an brought a touch of incredible warmth to my heart. It's so beautiful. :)
most brilliance, in life.. love and play.. play and love.. until our last breath, we are here and ever present.. I love this song, it reminds me of so much!!
Wouldn't it be great if hospitals were places where sick people would go get the child experience: fun, laughter, good healthy food, comfort, support, and most of all love! I think all diseases would be cured. :-)
so unbelievably beautiful, i instantly started crying remembering my grandfather; but they were tears of happiness. And my interpretation is that the inner child of the grandpa came out and saw life for what it really was, a beautiful work of art as opposed to the grim life in the hospital. koodos Edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros, so well done.
I can't stop watching it either. It is so emotional. I cry every time in a beautiful bittersweet way as I realize my age my mortality my inner child. This is so beautiful. TY God for such sweet sounds that massage the soul.
this song is so beautiful the meaning that you have in your head is one and a million, but i think we can all agree that this is just plainly beautiful
There is a beautifull emptyness to this song, it portrays happiness but the sounds do not seem to agree. Brilliant song, but gives me conflicting emotions!
How you were brought here doesn't matter. Im like you, I don't even remember how I first heard of them, but the point is that no matter how you got here, you're here now to enjoy this beautiful song.
WOW! i just realized that whole video was made by Polish artists its sooooooo amazing! And Andrzej Makowiecki! Dziękuję wam za zrobienie tak wspaniałego filmiku do tak wspaniałej piosenki!
Why do haters have to post? It's a beautiful song that can have many interpretations. If you don't like this kind of music don't hang out here. Come back when you grow up.
beautiful, i love the line Lost another one but she still smiles, smiles Black lava rocks and instead she sees for miles says she wants, oh wants to Stay a child, child right now And wonders why we ever ever have to die

Great video made me cry

This angel is his friend when he was a kid
God bless you

Robert Shanz I think its directed more at all people and not just the elderly
+Robert Shanz today it was real last day for him;( He was director and drama teacher so good , so wise, so human...he learned me a lot;((
The voices in my head are shadows, shadows
She comes to me, to tell me what they're after
Says it ain't the end boy but you best be careful, careful
Might catch your tail end in a circle, circle
The ocean how she moves in ripples, ripples
In flashing lights I swear she was an old film
Then the color bleeds and she becomes an angel, angel, hmm
Calls out to me like a siren to a scoundrel
I say come on child, and I say come on child
The blanket where she hides by virgin lights
Look to the sea where the cotton hits the turnpike
Staring at her needs but I don't have the words right, words right now
If up to me might make her turn right, turn right
Lost another one but she still smiles, smiles
Black lovin' eyes and a stare that sees for miles
Says she wants to be, oh wants to stay a child, child now
And wonders why we ever ever have to die
And I say come on child and I say come on child
Just a touch I'm gonna carry, carry
Another time where our palm shared the same line
The accent of a kiss whispers we're married, married now
It's either love or just the sun in my eyes and I say come on child
And I say come on child
Love love love love love
Thank you soo much for posting the lyrics!
