I've got a new print available on my store and a full blog post about printing your photography: www.brendansadventures.com/landscape-photography-printing-process/
Love that paper. Semi-accidentally ordered a print with it last year and ended up a bit surprised. But, the shot was sleet in Lofoten and it added so much to the feel of the image. Gave me a newfound respect for the power of the right paper. Had no idea about the spray! Super cool! Setup looks great!
It’s annoying how much ink the canon sucks up on the first install but I totally understand why. Now that I’m on my fist swap out of inks it should last for ages. I’m totally in love with my Pro1000.
Which cliffs, Bruce. I'm not sure there are any in this video. I'm guessing you've come from a different one? I'm in Lagos, Portugal. Loads of incredible cliffs here!
Another great video! Was browsing your store and love your work. One thing, your lighthouse shot in Maine is called Nubble, not Nubile...although I don't mind Nubile, lol
I have been using Qimage One for printing. It has some great layout options that simplify cutting, paper savings, etc. Also, are you using the media configuration tool? You can link the paper type with all settings, inc the icc profile, into a named paper just like the oem paper types. If grow tired of that cutter, get a rotatrim. I wish I had bought one a decade ago.
As a film photographer, I think that's really important to print your work. It finishes the job and it gives life to the picture, it gives its purpose. Do you do a special editing to the pictures you print (increase a bit the exposure for example) or just print your edited files?
What about a video on how you edit your photos for the printer's ICC? I know it's a little bit tricky do it in PS or Lightroom because the differences between RGB monitor and CMYK printers. Good video!
First off, Happy Boxing Day! Great video. Any chance you might link to some of your tools? Printer/print cutter/roll paper. Best to you two as we coast through the final (thank the Lord!) days of 2020.
Supa easy process of printing ... Before this vid i was in impression that its a hell lot of pain ... Thanks buddy.. To explain it very casually bt informative 🙏
LoL $80 for a paper trimmer is cheaping out, I'm looking to get the Rotatrim Pro30 Paper Trimmer which is about $Au600+ to pair with my Canon PRO-1000 17" (still waiting for it to arrive). Typically it's good to wait a day or a decent amount of time before you start handling prints to let the pigment settle and stabilize. Not sure if you have watch Jose Rodriguez youtube video on pro-printers and the constant maintenance you/printer gonna need to during its life, typically you want to print within 60 hrs or the printer gonna run the clean nozzle maintenance before your next print which will use more ink than your print itself. Also as part of the calibration process for each type of paper you should download and print a standardise picture, he has a few good videos on this too. I'm new to printing too so been doing alot of research on it, but an excited to start doing it and learning it in 2021.
Thanks for this video. I don‘t print myself, but rather use a printing service. I have a feeling that the number of prints I make would simply not justify buying my own printer and having that clog up after a time of not using it. Just one side-note on the presentation of images in your studio (and probably also later in your gallery): I would suggest using better glass in the frames. The glass you are using has lots of reflections and those show up at least in the videos - it might be different in real life when in your studio. However, I think you need either good indirect lighting in your gallery and block out all direct light or better glass. Museum-quality glass is quite expensive, but I believe it‘s worth using it wherever you can‘t guarantee there will be no reflections.
Yeah, the reflections are bad! But they are definitely worse due to the camera angles and heavy light source. Good glass is definitely a great piece of advice!
Ink is expensive. But, I haven't figured out how much it's costing me. I won't be able to until I start running out. I'll update with a "cost of printing" video sometime in a month or two. On my blog I did a cost estimate, though. Head over if you're interested!
thanks man! good stuff as always! and btw.. is there an option on your platform for clients who want to download a file and do the printing job on their own?
@@orshanti no. I don't use it. Part of my work is knowing it's printed really well. I don't want "poorly" print versions of my photos running around the world. If that makes sense
Hi brendan i want to get regular album size pics and one bigger print printed by you of my daughter. I dont know how to edit. So i guess would need your touch. I guess you wont be interested in doing it. But if so would be cool to do. Thanks
OK, so you brought up white gloves. But being super careful does not stop the oil from the skin on your fingers gettiing on the paper. That will eventually show.
Actually every printing video/tutorial says to print constantly otherwise you waste ink with the self clean, keep the nozzles clean with fresh inc etc. So it's not economical to print once a month 30 photos, but print one each day, or more every other day (minimum once a week).
Yes. And you're right. I guess what I failed to mention that I'm printing every day for the gallery upstairs. I print something every single day for that exact reason.

You have very good prints Brendan, wishing you lots of luck and good fortune with your project in my country. Take care.
Thanks Hugo!
Whoa!! Good looking office!! Good job there Brendan!!
Thanks Tony!
Beautiful work, Ty for sharing
Really enjoyed the video and seeing your printing process, and I also like the selection of images in your photo gallery 👍👍

Paper is everything. It makes all the difference
Hey Brendan,
Would you also create a video talking about the post processing for printing?
That's a good idea. I'll do something like that in Jan or Feb.
It’s annoying how much ink the canon sucks up on the first install but I totally understand why. Now that I’m on my fist swap out of inks it should last for ages.
I’m totally in love with my Pro1000.
i love my 1000 only just had first real printer i owned
@@mickphotos Hey Mick. Same here mate. My first printer and luckily have a shop to display and sell images. I’m always printing 😄🤙
Great video thanks Brendan, it would be interesting to hear about how you mount and frame your prints, are the ones on the wall done in-house?
Wow Brendan has imperfections!!! I wouldn’t think so!!!!!
Hahahaha
Joyeux Noël Brendan 🤗🇨🇦✌
Joy, love and health with many new projects in this new year 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊✌
Happy Holidays Guy!
I have a question. If you do it in Lr, for exemple, don't you need a profile for the paper and another one for the printer?
Great Video and amazing cliffs. May I ask the name of that area, we are stationed in Europe and looking for some amazing cliffs. So enjoy your work

Bro, make that cutting table taller, ur back is gonna be thankful. Great video btw, happy new year!
Dude, office looks great and sounding so much better. I have enjoyed watching the transformation.
Thanks Andrew! It's been fun!
The new studio looks great, congratulations. The new content is coming along nicely.
Thanks Eugene. It's nice having a space, for sure!
Happy New Years Brendan!!
Happy New Years Kostas!
Brendan, liked the video, I’d be interested in a breakdown on paper and ink costs sometime down the track
Yeah, I'm spending the month calculating costs. Once the ink starts to run out, I can do some math :D

Haha. Typo! Thanks for letting me know.

I'll give Qimage a try one of these days. Thanks for the tip!
Nice to see the process!

The office/studio looks great.

Check the pinned comment, i linked to my blog where I made a post with all that info. Happy holidays!
Do you include a stamped certificate of authenticity?
Yes! Although I'm always curious about these.

I'm glad it made it look less scary!
Normally the scariest part is choosing the best paper for a project

I agree about the cheapness. It was my only option on short notice. The really good ones are surprisingly hard to find in Europe!
Merry Christmas from your homeland BVS! 🇨🇦🎄☃️
Happy Christmas, mate!
Can you put post a link to the printer and paper please.... and monitor.....
happy holidays
Yup. It's the pinned comment. Or head to my blog. It's the new post. Cheers!

Isn't it true that the machine requires to be used on a daily basis? Otherwise the machine nozzles will clog?
Maybe not daily. But it should definitely shouldn't sit still for longer than 2-3 days
This cleared up alot about printing your own prints, thanks Brendan. How do you find the cost of ink for the printer?

@@BrendanvanSon Thank you, I'll check it out!
My back is aching just watching :)
But then again, you're a giant.
Do you ship to the US?
I do!
local libraries often offer space to show your work too
That's a great idea, Barbara!

Yes, in WooCommerce you can sell a virtual product which would automatically send them a link to a download.

Hi sent you a couple emails regarding the Leningrad 4, but i have not had a response, wondering if they went into your spam folder

Yea I wouldn’t use the level either. A long steel rule for a straight edge much better
I agree.

Aren’t you the same guy that several months ago said he’d never have his own prints on the wall because all you’d see are the flaws.
Haha! Yes! In my house. But at the studio/office, totally love it.
Happy Boxing Day!
Same to you!
(Also, Go, Team Canada! #WJHC2021).
You may want to sign inside the print area, as your customers may want to put a passepartout on to it. At least my customers do.
I've been doing that on most images these days actually. Thanks!
PS Hope you guys had an awesome Christmas 🥃
Merry Christmas!
I would like to see you using white gloves. It would look more professional.
