I love the idea of running the stretch beading cord with the big eye needle through a second time and then knotting Looks much more secure than the way I've been doing it and the 10 mm beads definitely give more room to hide the knot. 💚
Excellent video :) So only one question: which would be stronger, last longer for this bracelet- .5mm elastic threaded twice through or 1 mm threaded through once, both with good knots and glue? Your opinion would be helpful! Thanks...
We prefer a thinner .5mm elastic threaded through two times. If there's a break you still have another loop going through the beads. But we've never had one break. Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty

Great tutorial, thanks. Just found your channel but already ordered these blue agates a couple of days ago without knowing about this tutorial! I'm not sure about running the stretch cord back through the beads a second time, because how do you (or anyone) know whether you (they) are damaging the first round of cord with the needle going in again? I'd rather double the stretch cord, thread it onto the needle halfway along the cord so the needle only goes through once.

What thickness of string do you use for 10MM 8MM and 6MM IF you don’t want to double thread it? I’m new to this and ordered a massive amount of natural gemstone bracelets, but they are too big. I am so upset that I spent so much and they don’t fit so I want to fix them, BUT this is not my forte. Would LOVE To please know the thickened of string for those 3 sizes or beads.
Hi Danielle, So sorry for the delayed response. We've been on summer vacation! The important thing to know for your beads is the hole size. If you ordered them online, the shop should say how big the hole is. Ours are 10mm beads with a 1mm hole, so we can run the .5mm elastic through the hole two times. Here's another tutorial for the Stretch Bracelet: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ Look up your beads online and use elastic that is half the size of the hole. Alternatively, you could string the beads on a different material instead of elastic. I'm trying to fix my bracelets that my puppy got too anxious with and broke. This will help a great deal. Where can I get the supplies needed? I have the stretch magic already. I went to Hobby Lobby here in my town and got that. But didn't know I needed more supplies.
Hi Janet, You can make the bracelet without the needle. The needle just makes it go faster. And you can use clear nail polish to secure the knot if you don't have GS Hypo Jeweler's Glue. Here's a link to the project instructions on our blgo: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet/ Hope that helps! J&K
Hey! Are you afraid that the needle may cut/damage the string if I do this? Also, I have only used 1mm because I am afraid of it breaking. I normally use 10mm and 8mm beads. Can I go smaller with the string?
Great question HoneyB! The big eye beading needle is actually a fairly soft and flexible wire so it's not really sharp enough to cut the elastic cording. We have had very good luck with .5mm elastic cord. We run it through twice so the beads need a 10mm hole. We have a newer Stretch Bracelet Video you may want to watch too. ua-cam.com/video/UdwuGmpEWiA/v-deo.html We also have the instructions written out on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
This was amazing can I ask what size he your beads are by any chance are they 1mm (hole size)? I bought 0.7mm stretch magic and found the beads were really tight to pass through and ripped the string :( I’ve ordered 0.5mm now but my beads are 8mm with a hole 1mm would that still be okay with the thinner stretch magic as my bracelet popped (LOL) and wasn’t able to double up xx thank you for this video it was so helpful and easy to understand
So sorry you are having trouble with the stretch elastic. We always check the size of the hole in the bead and the size of the elastic cord. We have a newer version of this stretch bracelet on our blog with a new video here: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ We also found a new elastic cord that we think works better. It looks like this: amzn.to/2MBCdZ3 Hope that helps! J&K
Great question Sandy! We think it's better to go around twice so if the elastic breaks you still have a piece running all the way through the beads. We also prefer tying the single ends together to make the knot more secure versus tying a knot with doubled elastic. Does that make sense? J&K
Great question! Some semi-precious beads have smaller holes. You can run the cord through once, then tie the ends together with a surgical knot. We like to add a dab of glue to the knot. J&K
So happy to see this video (love the "hide the knot" idea), but I have been unable to get into your website for almost 2 months. Is is my computer or is it taking that long to update? Hope all is well with you both.
Hi Vanessa, We used .5mm Stretch Magic and cut a piece 20 inches. If you want to make the bracelet larger, you would still use the .5mm so it will fit through the beads. But start with a longer piece of Stretch Magic, maybe 25 inches, and add a few beads to increase the size. Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Hi Dash, The cord is strong, even at .5mm, and we go through the beads twice. Here's a Beaded Stretch Bracelet on our blog with all the written instructions: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Hi Devika, You can buy a Bead Bug at Michael's in the jewelry supply section or on Amazon. They look like this: amzn.to/3z8tlwP Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Great question Jasmine! We go all the way through twice so if the elastic breaks it still goes through the beads a second time. Just a little insurance. Here's a link to another how-to for this type of bracelet: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
Great question! You can use any needle which fits through the beads while threaded and that has an eye large enough for the elastic. You also can make this with no needle. The elastic has enough body to feed into the beads. Which just show the needle because it's faster. Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
do you have any ideo for a place to buy beeds for a low price? i want to get into bracelet making but dont want to spend all my money on it incase i dont like it
i’ve tried making two. both times, i end up with one way longer string in the middle connecting both sides and then two string ends coming from each side. wondering what i’m doing wrong?
So sorry you are having trouble Lindsay! It also has a UA-cam video: ua-cam.com/video/UdwuGmpEWiA/v-deo.html Let us know if you need more help! J&K

Great question! We sell kits on our website: runningwithsisters.com/product/polished-gemstone-stretch-bracelet-kit-turquoise/ And you can buy beads like ours here: amzn.to/3krJOIn Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
Perhaps you could try a smaller needle or see if you can get the elastic beading cord to go through without the needle. That sometimes works. Let us know if you need more help! J&K
@@TheONeilSisters it goes down the needle till it hits the bottom part were the wire is.somone said might be cause some beeds are blocked but the spacers were stuck to.it was a very small needle
You could try a bead reamer to make sure the bead holes are open. Here's what a bead reamer looks like: amzn.to/3irOETN Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
So I had gotten these golden spacers on Amazon, and after a week I've seen that they're starting to tarnish. Does anybody have any tips to prevent this? Or any way to clean it. Thank you 😊
So sorry the spacers are tarnishing. You can store the bracelet in a zipper top baggie to help prevent tarnish. And for polishing we love Pro Polish Pads: amzn.to/3axyANf Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Swarovski rhodium plated won’t tarnish but anything vermeil or gold plated/filled WILL tarnish. Unless it’s 14kt gold, unfortunately these will change colour
Ok so I did this tutorial without the needle. It took longer to do and the needle is obviously faster but it can be done for those who might not have a needle.😘
Great question! We found lots of beads like this at Michael's. They have them online. Choose strung beads>semi-precious>round>10mm. Lots of colors! Hope that helps! J&K
Great question! If you folded the cord and ran it through once, you would end up with a larger knot because you would have to tie the doubled up cord in a knot. By running it thought two times, you only have two ends to tie into a knot. Here's another gemstone stretch bracelet we made with a little different knotting technique: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/ Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
We got the beads and spacers from Michaels! They have great beads and they are often on sale. Here's a pretty set: www.michaels.com/black-and-gray-jasper-round-beads-10mm-by-bead-landing/10549792.html J&K
Oh no! So sorry you are having trouble Sarah! We have another version of this bracelet that might be easier: How To Make A Polished Gemstone Stretch Bracelet >> ua-cam.com/video/UdwuGmpEWiA/v-deo.html And please let us know how we can help! Jennifer & Kitty
This is way too much effort. You actually use .8 or 1mm stretch magic spend a little more and get a decent gold or silver spacer with a large opening and tie 3 knots glue and slip in the hole of the spacer. No need for a bead bug or needle.
Thank for the tips Mary! We like to use .5mm stretch elastic and run it through the beads two times for added security. Here's the how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet/ Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty

We also have the instructions written out on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/
Hope that helps!

This was amazing can I ask what size he your beads are by any chance are they 1mm (hole size)? I bought 0.7mm stretch magic and found the beads were really tight to pass through and ripped the string :( I’ve ordered 0.5mm now but my beads are 8mm with a hole
1mm would that still be okay with the thinner stretch magic as my bracelet popped (LOL) and wasn’t able to double up xx thank you for this video it was so helpful and easy to understand
So sorry you are having trouble with the stretch elastic. We always check the size of the hole in the bead and the size of the elastic cord. We have a newer version of this stretch bracelet on our blog with a new video here: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/
We also found a new elastic cord that we think works better. It looks like this: amzn.to/2MBCdZ3
Hope that helps!

Can you just double thread the needle and that gives you two strands from jump? Thanks nice video
Great question Sandy! We think it's better to go around twice so if the elastic breaks you still have a piece running all the way through the beads. We also prefer tying the single ends together to make the knot more secure versus tying a knot with doubled elastic. Does that make sense?

I love this!
We do too! Thanks so much for watching! J&K
What if the holes in the semi-precious stone of choice is not big enough to string the cord back through a second time? Best way to end and secure?
Great question! Some semi-precious beads have smaller holes. You can run the cord through once, then tie the ends together with a surgical knot. We like to add a dab of glue to the knot.

This is brilliant! I will use this method! Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks Shoryo! J&K
So happy to see this video (love the "hide the knot" idea), but I have been unable to get into your website for almost 2 months. Is is my computer or is it taking that long to update? Hope all is well with you both.
Hi Dianne,
We redesigned our website. It's up and running now. Let us know what you think! RunningWithSisters.com

When you say bigger size stretch magic, what size range are you suggesting ?
Hi Vanessa, We used .5mm Stretch Magic and cut a piece 20 inches. If you want to make the bracelet larger, you would still use the .5mm so it will fit through the beads. But start with a longer piece of Stretch Magic, maybe 25 inches, and add a few beads to increase the size.
Hope that helps!
Jennifer & Kitty
Hi! Will this last? Because the size of the cord is just 0.5 mm
Hi Dash, The cord is strong, even at .5mm, and we go through the beads twice. Here's a Beaded Stretch Bracelet on our blog with all the written instructions: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/
Hope that helps!
Jennifer & Kitty
I think by double beading the bracelet becomes very strong . Thanks
You're right, Kamal -- feeding the elastic cord through the beads twice definitely makes the bracelet stronger!
Do you buy the beads pre-drilled?
Yes! You can find them on FireMountainGems.com, ArtBeads.com, and Etsy.com

Where do I buy bead bug?
Hi Devika, You can buy a Bead Bug at Michael's in the jewelry supply section or on Amazon. They look like this: amzn.to/3z8tlwP
Hope that helps!

Why not fold the cord over w the needle so you already have the beads on the doubled cord so you dont have to go though twice ?
Great question Jasmine! We go all the way through twice so if the elastic breaks it still goes through the beads a second time. Just a little insurance. Here's a link to another how-to for this type of bracelet: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/
Cheers,
Jennifer & Kitty
Tried several knots including this one but they never hold!
can i use an embroidery needle?
Great question! You can use any needle which fits through the beads while threaded and that has an eye large enough for the elastic. You also can make this with no needle. The elastic has enough body to feed into the beads. Which just show the needle because it's faster.
Cheers,
Jennifer & Kitty
do you have any ideo for a place to buy beeds for a low price? i want to get into bracelet making but dont want to spend all my money on it incase i dont like it
Great question! We find very good prices for beads on Etsy.com and Amazon.com. We also like FireMountainGems.com
Hope that helps!

Great video. From where I can buy authentic gemstone?

i’ve tried making two. both times, i end up with one way longer string in the middle connecting both sides and then two string ends coming from each side. wondering what i’m doing wrong?
So sorry you are having trouble Lindsay! We have another way to make a stretch bracelet that you might have better luck with: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/
You can probably use that technique on your other bracelets to fix them.
It also has a UA-cam video: ua-cam.com/video/UdwuGmpEWiA/v-deo.html

@@TheONeilSisters Thank you so much!!:)

some of my spacers and beads would not go down the needle why?
Perhaps you could try a smaller needle or see if you can get the elastic beading cord to go through without the needle. That sometimes works.
Let us know if you need more help!
J&K
@@TheONeilSisters it goes down the needle till it hits the bottom part were the wire is.somone said might be cause some beeds are blocked but the spacers were stuck to.it was a very small needle
You could try a bead reamer to make sure the bead holes are open. Here's what a bead reamer looks like: amzn.to/3irOETN
Hope that helps!
Jennifer & Kitty
@@TheONeilSisters the spacers get stuck to could the wire be to thick?it goes down the needle but were the wire is in the neddle wont go past that
Try beading directly onto the elastic cord without using the needle. Sometimes that works fine.
Hope that helps!,

So I had gotten these golden spacers on Amazon, and after a week I've seen that they're starting to tarnish. Does anybody have any tips to prevent this? Or any way to clean it. Thank you 😊
So sorry the spacers are tarnishing. You can store the bracelet in a zipper top baggie to help prevent tarnish. And for polishing we love Pro Polish Pads: amzn.to/3axyANf
Hope that helps!
Jennifer & Kitty
Swarovski rhodium plated won’t tarnish but anything vermeil or gold plated/filled WILL tarnish. Unless it’s 14kt gold, unfortunately these will change colour
Thanks for the tips!
J&K
Ok so I did this tutorial without the needle. It took longer to do and the needle is obviously faster but it can be done for those who might not have a needle.😘
Oh that's great! Thanks for letting us know! J&K
Where can I get beads for a bracelet like this?
Great question! We found lots of beads like this at Michael's. They have them online. Choose strung beads>semi-precious>round>10mm. Lots of colors!

I never can get my plastic beading string to stay in a knot so I said the heck I will stay with wire
Why don’t you fold the cord in half and feed the beads through the folded part so you don’t have to go back after threading all your beads again
Great question! If you folded the cord and ran it through once, you would end up with a larger knot because you would have to tie the doubled up cord in a knot. By running it thought two times, you only have two ends to tie into a knot.
Here's another gemstone stretch bracelet we made with a little different knotting technique: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet-video-and-kit/

What do you get the beads and spacer from? Thanks :)
We got the beads and spacers from Michaels! They have great beads and they are often on sale. Here's a pretty set: www.michaels.com/black-and-gray-jasper-round-beads-10mm-by-bead-landing/10549792.html

I believe that both of those knots together are called a surgical knot.

Its to hard and ive thrown it all away 😪 cant be dealing with this
Oh no! So sorry you are having trouble Sarah! We have another version of this bracelet that might be easier: How To Make A Polished Gemstone Stretch Bracelet >> ua-cam.com/video/UdwuGmpEWiA/v-deo.html
And please let us know how we can help!
Here's the how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/gemstone-stretch-bracelet/

Jennifer & Kitty
