This is a great review, thank you! I appreciate how honestly you speak and appreciate all the details! Even though it was just a person standing there (no fancy video tricks), I found myself glued to your every word. I have the Timecutter 50 with MyRide. I also changed to aftermarket Ripper blades and it cuts much better. I’m happy with the engine but I’ve already broken some of the less “heavy duty” parts like the front deck support rod. I presume it’s a shear pin because the metal just snapped in half. I have a flat yard with no rocks, so I certainly don’t beat up the machine. As you said, “I’m stuck with it for the next 5-6 years.” So am I. I may consider a BadBoy or Hustler which are a little more commercial.
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed my video and it kept your attention. I just started mine back up for spring mowing and had another bad experience. I really want to like it. I'm going to install the baggers and do another review after I get more hours on the machine. Im sorry those parts have broken on yours! Very frustrating.
I bought a new Time Cutter 3 weeks ago. 50" deck.....$3900 out the door. Mowed 3 acres 3 times now and it's doing a great job. so far I am pleased with it.
Thank you for this video you are the 2nd person that's had a problem with the mower leaving a strip of grass in the middle from all the videos I have watched it appears Cub Cadet is the best homeowners mower.
Glad I saw your video as I was about to buy the same model. What style blades did it come with? Combo? High lift? If you are only Side discharging and bagging I would think you'd want to run high lifts all season and let that Kawasaki flex it's muscle a bit! Only time it could be a problem is in the Spring if the grass is lush, tall and wet. Hopefully it will push that grass out of the deck before it plasters it up under there and packs it up. I usually run a lower lift in Spring and switch to high lift for the rest of the season because of this.
Thanks for the info on the blades. This came with combo and I will be changing the blades in the spring when I install the bagger and see how it performs then. I got the bagger at the end of the season I'll do another review when it's on. It seems to discharge manicured grass pretty well out of the deck but not thicker taller grass. For the price point I think it should come with a better blade on it. The travel speed and cut quality just isn't what my cub cadet was doing even with its original blades. Thanks for watching!
The Toro mowers are good, however the blades seem cheap. Upgrade to some aftermarket blades and I don’t think you’ll have as much trouble. The Cub cadet zero turn seems to have some deck issues with rattling that ends up needing parts replaced after awhile of rattling.
Underrated comment this is pick your poison moment between the two and my pick is buy after market blades instead of dealing with the issues that come with the deck
I had a 42inch with little problems so far. The timecutter does have a better cut. I do have some issues with the design. A better seat that could be raised . The bagging system is hard to get grass out when full,
I am going to try some better blades on mine and hope that improves cutting speed. Thanks for letting me know about the bagger issue you are having. I am putting a bagger on mine next week and trying it out soon after.
I have a toro timecutter too and it cuts great with gator blades.can mow full speed..did not like factory blades.almost 4 years old with no problems.i cut around 15 hours per week.
The ZT mowers in general are really nice, but wow they're not cheap. If I was in the business, I'm sure I'd get one but for my own land I really like the form factor of my Cub Cadet garden tractor.
They are definitely not cheap! I never thought I'd like zero turns. Now that I've owned a few of them, I don't think I could go back. I would like a garden tractor again for my own land though. I had an older Simplicity for my fields that had to go to the scrapyard the end of this summer. It was a sad day.
I have a time saver . Brought it new . Had lots of trouble with it , cost me a lot of money just to get it usable . Talked to the top woman that was in charge . She couldn’t have cared less. I will never buy a another toro ! 😤
Sorry you had such bad luck. My local dealer sells several different brands now instead of doing just Toro. I won't bring mine back to this dealer for anything I will do my own maintenance when needed.
There are some very good brands out there for sure. Here in Oz I have had two TOROs. The first a 42 inch, the one I have now 60" 3000 series (US 6000 series I think). Built like a tank, great on fuel, I had a mulcher kit placed on it, I about 3 arches to mow around the house and out in the paddocks. Never had a drama with them ever....great mower, but horses for courses. If you want to go faster...left the deck a bit, simple really.
I hope I have good luck with mine and it's drama free like yours have been. With my Cub Cadet I wouldn't have to lift and could get the speed. I'm disappointed with my Toro for how much more it cost when it's not proving to me it was worth the extra money. Hopefully I have a better experience this coming summer after playing around with this machine more and installing the bagger.

Thank you
I'm looking at possibly getting this same mower in the near future myself
I am having more problems with it this year loose wires dead battery twice already. Your zero turn seems to work real well

@@aldenslandscaping I bet it was! There's just something about the form factor of a tractor! :)
Had problems after problem with mine! I will never buy another one!!! Maybe I got a lemon but it’s been a nightmare!
sorry you had to deal with so many problems. I am still not liking mine at all.
