    In my opinion, it is called "naked" because it is a film that deals with a world that is lonely and dreadful, the souls wandering this world are naked of relationships or family - they are alone in a world with no hope, no light or love. It is a story of a generation that feels defeated by urban society and modernization.

      There's also the evocation of Genesis. The nakedness seen before the Fall.

    After being punched around with powerful scenes of humanity's dark sides for a couple of hours, JUST when you thought that this movie was about to turn Hollywood and have a happy ending after Louise asks Johnny to go back with her, this scene delivers the knock out.

      @NoFapTate The point is that it will only be more of the same for him. The pretense of a 'Hollywood happy ending' is false, because even a cursory look at Johnny's character tells you that his disposition more or less precludes happiness. He will continue his life with precisely the same manic tension, anxious, restless energy, the sense of nowhere to be, nowhere to go. He is essentially, fundamentally, tragic.

    i feel like Johnny's character has something almost supernatural about him. He could have chosen an easy, stable life with Louise but he didn't. Almost as if he has a mission. As if he's an angel/demon of the apocalypse, the end of the world, not in a real sense of course, but a symbolic presence, a metaphor for all the wretched people of society. cause, after all, only the most miserable are obsessed with the end of the world.

    Nihlism and fatalism drove johnny into a state to where he saw filth in everything ...Leaving louise was an act of redemption towards how cruel he treated her . His health was failing and he was always being draw into a death void , and he wasn't being cynical about the world ending he meant it , hestudied and thought hard about the fate of the world and his own demise . So like with nothing left for him he sprawls the streets once more , his path is set like his views on everything ..it ends .

    mike leigh made him hop like a frog because the frog doesn't imagine his next state of affairs. The frog thing I think was the actual intention, but most of this movie would take multiple more viewings for me to fully interpret. I just know that it contains some of the best dialogue ever put to film.

    • @FelixalPorto
      @FelixalPorto 5 років тому

      Puffy Guffy ofcourse you may interpret it the way you want, but I don’t think the ‘hopping’ is anything frog related. He’s humping because he can’t walk properly. With this Leigh puts the emphasis on Johhny’s need for a personal apocalypse, even when he can barely move forward. Happiness and comfort are no option for him, and with this lingering shot Leigh confirms that one more time before cutting to black.

    @ajmedway Well... It's hard to say. Louise certainly loved johnny and he cares about her as well ("Do you hate me?" "Fuck off" [Smiles]) But something in him propels him to behave the way that he does. Besides, both of them probably knew that it was not going to be "happy ever after", just that they would be together again for as long as it lasted. I think that Johnny doesn't believe that he can be part of the normal world anymore.

Amma biz həmişə Tanrıdan bir şeylər gözləyəcəyik. Çünki yaşadığımız dünyada nə etsək də hər zaman əskik olan bir şeylər olacaq. Yolunda getməyən bir şeylər olacaq. Ən qüsursuz anımızda belə bəzi şeylər kifayət etməyəcək bir zaman sonra. Hər nə edilirsə edilsin, Tanrı hər zaman əskik olacaq dünyada...

    This movie is about the way men can deal with women or what is acceptable. Johnny had sex that was consensual at the beginning But it got aggressive so he ran away after doing so, therefore he is not a rapist.which is the appropiate thing to do. He warns Sophie afterwards because he will hurt her if she stays with him, again he is doing what is right based on his condition. Mike leigh made it clear that Sophie cant handle this kind of relationship when Jeremy didnt stop hurting her and through the loss of her child. Again, Johnny didnt want to hurt the old lady and he said you will catch something cruel nor the waiteress. Finally, Johnny escaped because it wasnt acceptable for him to be with Loiuse. This understanding explains the movie's structure.

    I did not think he would move on. Its a funny ending it makes you feel emotional in a way what happens now does he go back on the streets or does he go back to Manchester I saw this in 1995 when I first liked oasis there is a bitter manc wit about him but he's not a bully just mixed up to clever to work and lead a normal life but when he helps the bill sticker he fails at a simple task which is sad he's to clever but it's his downfall as real people are not thinkers but doers in life he does not like normality he needs to question everything and anyone I'm a bit like this so many dishonest people in life who hide the truth lack empathy to others and are that's

  • @KleWdSide

    @ajmedway He has some serious emotional problems, that's for sure. That's what I loved about the movie. After he's beaten, it seemed like it was leading up to the traditional "happy ending" formula, but nope. He steals the money & he's back to where he left off...

    This movie is brilliant but I honestly think they bit off more than they could chew with the landlord character. He was well done but he hurts the pacing and plot of the film overall and stretches it too thin, obviously the writer(s) had someone like him in mind but he probably needed his own film to be done properly. Remove the landlord and maybe make Johnny being beaten up near the end as the result of some of his behavior, even just pissing off the wrong guy rather than just walking by a group of sketchy lads at night. Then ide give it a 9 or 10 rather than a 7 or 8. Stuff like this is why Kubrick did so many takes, in film especially, small mistakes or improvements can make a world of difference.
