LoL, yeah, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to get a bit of stiff wire out to poke under the headlights and clear the drain hole. One time i got caught out in the rain and didn’t know the drain hole on the driver’s side headlamp was blocked and as soon as i turned a corner a load of water splashed up and hit the windscreen in front of me. I now keep (in the car) some coat hanger wire and a bent/blunted hacksaw blade (covered in soft duct tape) to poke under the headlights and wiggle around to move leaves/twigs off the drain holes on the odd occasions they get blocked. Pop up lights are cool though.
The motors and control module are all Corvette GM sourced, from same era corvettte. Door handles mentioned in earlier video are sourced from the Morris Marina. Hmm ignition switch, could be from 60s era Ford Cortina to match the steering rack.
I went though this with the control module on the Hurricane Harvey car. I had a 1988 Corvette at the time so I borrowed it's control module. It worked.
2001 Esprit here - I fixed one of my headlights which was sad and saggy the same way. I only did the one which had the problem, but keeping those plastic bits for when the other grenades too.
To add a note: Be careful not to just let the headlight flop as you remove the push rod from the control arm. As it moves freely in the bucket, it can come in contact with the nose panel and the hood panel going the other way scuffing the paint or worse.
Yes, in my video from the black one (that I haven't released yet) I suggest using a microfiber towel to help. This 88 Esprit is super low miles and the headlight hinges and pushrods are the tightest (least worn) I have ever seen. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
I have replaced a left hand headlight motor and now the new one goes up and straight back down again. It will not remain up. Can you help me with this at all?
Can't believe the amount of progress you have made already !
Thank you. It has really been driven by viewers like you.
These are absolutely fantastic, informative and please keep them rolling! You’re a legend

Good progress. And clearly you know these cars.
Good to see a fix that doesn’t cost the earth ! Sweet result. 👍🏽😂
Nice video dude. I have this problem on the left headlight of my Lotus Excel.
Yup. Had to rebuild the motors on my Esprit recently as well. Got a kit from a Lotus supplier
very true, one of the many things i love about my 944.
We test drove an early 944 recently. Great car. Like a Miata with a roof and a back seat.
So envious of your luck - a red Esprit for $300
This is marvelous. I'm gonna follow this resto to the end!
It's a 30 year old Lotus. There will be no end. But we will have a lot of fun along the way.
I just love it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!
Cool project.
Nice work there 🍺
I wonder if Rogue Revision came up with the idea of building their Revision 6 headlights for the mr2 from the lotus Esprit.
Cool!
Great video. I saw on the Esprit FB page a link to upgraded die cast gears. The same kit for the Corvette. What’s peoples thoughts on that?
I must be a goober because I found this to be very interesting.

It is a 1987 turbo Esprit hci
If it goes up and FALLS down then it's the pellets, if it goes up and motors itself right back down its a defective motor.
You should try this on an S1 :) Great job!
I actually have one. I've posted a few pictures on the ATS Exotics Facebook page, but no videos of it. It is an original white/tartan car. #351H
@@nitrusmr2 ooooo nice 👍🏻 I have 505H
