This is excellent! Good to hear stories from fellow weekend warriors. I'm 3.2 w/kg after two years of moderate riding and training but now I have my eyes on 4 w/kg.
Def the road I'm on atm. Been off the bike for a few seasons & now that I purchased a smart trainer/Zwift, it's been really nice to get the motivation to train again & enjoy the process. The first FTP test I recorded this year was on January 27th (13 days after I started riding again). Came out with a 184W FTP weighing in at 56.7kg, so 3.24W/kg. I was honestly proud of that, seeing that I've been in good shape since 2013 when I started racing DH/Enduro, but these past 3 years of work got in the way of all that progress. And with a super-fast metabolism, if I don't work out, I just drop down to where I'm at now. I plan on getting TrainerRoad to help relieve the burden of creating my own workouts, though I'll prob keep it simple this summer & use this season for base/strength training (don't really have the funds to travel racing with no job atm). But going into the offseason, I want to get very structured & start working towards getting to Nationals for XC/Leadville/other big events by at least 2023. Lots of big goals!
I'm following a TR training plan and find it extremely high on zone 2 training (in the 3 zones model). Why is that? Aren't you supposed to concentrate on zones 1 and 3? Thanks

wouldnt say good genetics. could be good fitness from before cycling. I've been cycling less than two years, just got a power meter and have a 3.4 watts per kilo ftp and I'm also quite low volume. but I came from a background of fitness
@@onlyfoolriding8223 sure but my last 20min test i got 313w 4.5w/kg with 6-7 hours a week with less than 1 year of trianing on the bike. his training for the hours he has might be much more effective than others who do more hours with less optimal sessions.

Great episode and really inspiring to hear these success stories from people with relatable lifestyles. Well done Casper!
Another great episode. Really great how you go into details, and give people room to talk Jonathan. Learning a lot.
Cool retro, both audio and video.
Jon’s face says everything !
2.5w/kg at 91kg. Hope to reach 3.0w/kg
If you lose 10kilos you are at 2.8w/kg withouth increas in muscle strength.
Damn I'm at 3.8w at 87kg. Can't imagine 4w/kg

@@Bayo106 There is a very big difference between 3.4 and 4.0.

160lbs = 72.57kg/284w = 3.9w/kg. Close but not quite 4.
