Thanks for this video. At one time I replaced the power cord because I didn't think to replace the modular connectors. It broke again so bought the crimping tool, connectors and put it together. I appreciate you showing what color wiring went in the correct slot because I did take it out without looking. It worked just fine the first time. The tool and connectors cost half of the cost of the power cord. Now, if it happenss again, I'll be able to fix it in no time. Thanks again.
My man. Thank you! Mine just had the connector piece on the connector snap after multiple removals and entry. Gonna buy a new rj11 and change it myself.
You didn't need to splice those tiny 4 colored wires at all prior to inserting into the new RJ11 plug? I'm considering just getting any RJ11 phone cord and then splicing the wires into the Uniden cigarette power adapter cord like you have here.
The RJ11 has small blades that cut into the wire to make electrical contact when crimped so no splicing needed. Just a heads up trying to splice these wires might be a nightmare! They are VERY small and if you were able to splice and solder, tape/heat shrink the heck out of it so it doesn't put any stress on the joints. Just my .02.
Thanks for posting this. I need to replace the RJ-11 plug on my radar detector and your video makes it clear how to do so.

I have same issue with the same radar. I replaced the RJ45 same like this video but did not work. Any idea or tips ?
You’re using the wrong connectors. You should be using a RJ11 and not a RJ45. Big difference in the size of those two connectors.
Did you leave 1 empty on each side? Or did you leave 2 empty on one side?
i was thinking about sealing the strain relief with superglue or hot glue
Anyone tried replacing with a usbc connection?
