  • This is a very impromptu tour of the greenhouse. Although there are many plants still blooming, most plants are in "growth mode".

    That bulbophyllum claptonense is stunning. I need to find one of those now! congratulations on the award for the phrag pearcei, I had no idea those could be in bloom for so long and now I'm really looking forward to mine getting a little older and blooming for me. All of the orchids you sent last month are doing wonderful, by the way. There are so many new leads on that bulb vigantam and I'm starting to see new growth on all of those bulbophyllum seedlings as well.Glad hear your wife is doing better!

    Thank you all for the wishes of Peggy's recovery. She is coming along well and I have started trying to catch up on repotting plants. Now all I need is a time machine to get them all established so I can sell them!

    I have the same condition with a red reed-stem epidendrum, no clue why it happens. Your orchids are spectacular, I love how you always have something in bloom, specially the Miltassia estrelita "sweet señorita" (it means Miltassia little star "sweet lady" in Spanish, very appropriate if you ask me) and your awesome Dendrobiums. Would that I could buy plants from you, but living in Costa Rica it's complicated to import live plants...... Hope your wife gets better soon, take care.

    what a great tour!! thank you. I notice that you have your bulbos in bright light and doing very well. I thought they preferred semi shaded so this is how I have been growing mine . they are still settling into a new shade house so I am not too sure if this is right for them. do you find they do better in the bright light? Kim

      For bulbos, the more light and water, the more spikes and more flowers per spike when they bloom. Also, new leads can form from older bulbs when optimum conditions are presented. The higher humidity and the more air movement, the more light they can tolerate. Try introducing them to more light gradually. Also, there are a few species that must have fairly bright light to bloom. B. lasiochilum is one of these.

    Thank you for sharing all the lovely blooms. Could you tell me the name of the miltoniopsis with the fantastic patterning that looks like a butterfly - it was in the group of 3 that you showed.

      Valerie Melanson I think you might be referring to Milt. Rubenesque. If you are interested in it please contact me through my website.

    I definitely want to add some of the tulumnias to my collection! I have two and just love them. Is there an email list I can sign up for to be notified when they are ready?

      I try to update the Wades Orchids web site near the beginning of each month. Please remember that if I don't think they are established well enough you won't see them.

    How do you deal with fungus gnats?

    • @wadesorchids7219
      @wadesorchids7219  7 років тому

      Sherry Walker I guess I never pointed out the two massive pitcher plants. They attract all the fungus gnats. I also feed them the occasional slug and dead insects that I may find.
