  • Barn Owls are a widespread species, but their populations are declining in parts of their range, including New Jersey. The NJ Coastal Barn Owl Project began in 2021 as a collaborative effort between Conservation Science Global, Natural Lands, NJDEP Fish & Wildlife, and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey to provide nesting sites for Barn Owls in our coastal marshes. By installing Barn Owl boxes in suitable habitat, we are increasing the chances of successful breeding and providing researchers with a rare opportunity to study this secretive and hard-to-detect species.
