- One piece of state-of-the-art rehab technology that we use with stroke patients is Galileo Whole Body Vibration. It provides somatosensory stimulation with the goal of “jump starting” muscle contractions. Through the intense high-repetition rate called frequency, the patient’s ability to efficiently recruit the muscle fibers and coordinate movement being performed by the joint and muscle tissue is enhanced, thus improving strength.

Perhaps the positive effect is due to the improvement in the connective tissue. These tissue’s play a much greater role in posture and movement then is usually highlighted, and follow a slightly different route to the brainmap then muscles and nerve’s do. Their contribution to our Biomechanical functioning could be of great interest for stroke patients I believe.

Treatment varies by individual and diagnosis. We would advise that a patient consult their doctor to determine the level of treatment frequency that would be most beneficial to them.
