      @Batuhan Batuhan U are confusing electric field as a matter. Electric field can be thought as an information or a map. Positive charge don't attract field . What u are perceiving, is the DIRECTION of the field. There is nothing that goes into a positive charge. The rays are representing field, which u can think as id or signature of the charge.
      Coming to ur question yes field would exist if the universe would have a single positive charge.

    Please never stop making these videos, Eugene. They're so weird but so good!
    You have a brilliant knack for exploiting that uniquely psychedelic kitsch style of mid-1990s era computer animation, combining it with fun MIDI synth tunes, and finally juxtaposing it with a slow, matter-of-fact narration, reminiscent of old educational VHS tapes I used to watch in school.
    Seriously man, this channel is a gem. Well done!

    I loved this video, not only because of the intuitive animations but because there is no boundaries between physics subjects.
    Within the same video we passed from Maxwell equations to transformers, to electric motors to electromagnetic waves and even an insight on quantum mechanic. Todays school system would have made 4 different courses out of these subjects and an individual would have studied them deeply but individually.
    This video makes a nice glue filling the gaps in my opinion. Thank you

    I finally understood the basic principles that I didn't know when I was at school. I am very grateful to the author for using visual thinking to understand the incomprehensible electromagnetic principles.
    In our country, although we started to study physics very early, we only do the problem and don't know the principle. The teacher always tells us: "You don't need to know the principle, you just need to take the exam." This kind of education has killed my interest in physics.
    I am very happy to see the electromagnetic principle explanation of such an image. I re-ignite my interest in physics. I will patiently read the video of this series and improve my knowledge reserve.

    I like combining English and Arabic subtitles in this videos. This encourages native Arab speakers to understand the content of this insightful video. Maxwell is a great scientist, he was born in 1831 the year faraday discovered the electromagnetic induction, and died in 1879 the year Albert Einstein was born. These three scientists are the real founders of the great progress we are in today. And Maxwell is the greatest in my opinion, without him einstein would never have made his groundbreaking theory

      I appreciate your efforts, its paying off well. But I want to ask why you decided to represent the electric field lines as lines in the first half of the video, and then as rotating rings of arrows in the second half.
      So I'm a bit puzzled there, can u help?

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  9 років тому +25

      +doodelay, at the beginning of the video, I was talking about electric fields generated by stationary charged particles, and I wanted to demonstrate that the number of electric field lines leaving an object is determined by the amount of charge inside. At the end of the video, I was talking about electric fields generated by changing magnetic fields, so I demonstrated this with a rotating ring of arrows. Though, arrows were also used in the beginning, along with the electric field lines. Thanks.

    • @doodelay
      @doodelay 9 років тому +2

      Eugene Khutoryansky
      So Electric fields do rotate then when in the presence of magnetic fields?
      Sort of like the lines are straight but when a magnetic field is present then the electric field gets trapped in the magnetic field's rotation.
      Just like planets are moving straight but the sun's gravity traps the planet's in a loop?

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  9 років тому +14

      +doodelay, the field doesn't actually rotate, since at every point in space and time, the field only has a strength and a direction, not a speed. But, charged particles present in the field will rotate, and hence I drew it that way.

It should have a defined nb of lines related to electron or particule rotation around itself. But as in pratic we can say infinity lines, but actually it is not

    Hello Eugene!
    This was a wonderful video, but it only explains the concept of electric and magnetic fields classically. I'm wondering if you could do a video explaining the modern view of electromagnetism, i.e. electrodynamics. I understand that in this modern theory, electric and magnetic fields are unified. I know that they are two expressions of the same force and a consequence of Lorentz transformation (special relativity), but I cannot fully get my head around the idea because I have no clear picture in my head of the phenomena. It would be incredibly helpful if you made a video on this topic, thanks in advance!

As a teacher, I feel this could be used as an excellent resource for students at not just the high school level, but even at the university level too. • @danyael777
      @danyael777 5 років тому

      It's a mathematical model, some even say that there is only one (or rather no) charged particle evenly spread. A field, that is. For this model to work, one has to assume an infinite distance for em-effect. Which by observation returns true, because light beeing the delivery-boson for em-effects, which has infinite delivery-distance..

    Such a great video! However, I think it's measleading to use the term "amount of field lines". You also can't count the gradient vectors of a potential field. It makes a pretty picture though..

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  10 років тому +10

      You are referring to the fact that the electric and magnetic flux is continuous, and not concentrated in a countable number of lines. However, discrete and countable field lines can be used as a graphical representation of the flux, with the strength of the flux being represented by the density of the field lines. Although these field lines don't actually exist, and are only graphical representations, according to Quantum Electrodynamics, electric and magnetic fields don't exist either, as I mention at the end of the video. Any by the way, thanks for the compliment. I am glad you liked the video.

    • @afederdk
      @afederdk 9 років тому

      Eugene Khutoryansky Whether any mathematical quantity exists is something of a philosophical question. But the model of electric and magnetic fields seem to correspond with experimental evidence, while a model of countable field lines does not. In any case, your animations and renders - and the fine human narration too - make for an impressive experience.
