Cullman is very much known as a poor, backwater town if you live in Alabama. Southern Living was the one that tried to make them look like Stepford and it was baffling to everyone who's actually been there. They have a few craft fairs to attract custom and not much else.
I stopped in Cullman on my way to Huntsville one day before I knew it was a sundown town and I felt like the vibes were on some "where ya goin, boy?" type stuff cause I got weird looks when I was there

I have also been a social science researcher on issues of race in the US. The legal, policy, and structural pieces are not yet in place but the societal markers are in place and growing. Of that 🍊🍕💩 gets his way, SCOUTS will put those restrictions in place. I encourage you to look more deeply into the emerging sociological markers.

😂 I actually used to live off and on in Cullman. In 1997 I started flying in and out of Cullman because I met and eventually married a man who lived there. I was traveling there when the signs were still up. I wish I had taken the time to take a picture of one of the signs. The signs stated, "If you are a "N" or a foreigner...don't let the sun go down with you in our town." The government made them remove the signs in the early 2000's. With my being Black and him having been a foreigner...we were always indoors before sunset. However, I must say too that when we did go out around town shopping or going to a restaurant...I was always treated well. Much better than he was because he still had his European accent. He spoke fluent English but still had his accent. Eventually, we moved to Birmingham then completely out of state. I've never gone to Cullman again. Birmingham is equally as racist.

In 2019 I had to attend my adopted grandpas funeral. I was adopted by white pepper and when I tell you I started having nightmares as soon as we got there in Alabama is was horrible. Like crying in cold sweats nightmares. I saw multiple confederate flags and our ancestors showed me horror after horror. And when I told my mom she brushed me aside saying that I was being dramatic. my parents and brothers walked ahead of me while i had panic attacks and anxiety. i wasnt sure if 14 year old me could make it home alive. There are 20 too many confederate flags that I’ve seen in Alabama to ever consider going back there. Especially not for a LIGHT show
