  • The Cinque Terre is a National Park made up of 5 different coastal villages - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. We stayed in La Spezia (much cheaper!) at an amazing hotel (watch the video in our Italy playlist!) and got a 7 minute train ride to the first village, Riomaggiore.
    DAY 129 // November 7, 2017 // Cinque Terre, Italy
    There are day train passes available which would be great if you are returning to the same location. We also see Vernazza & Monterosso and then go onto Genoa.
    Oh, and I know I totally butcher most names in this video! haha!
    You can also walk between all 5 villages (if the weather conditions allow it). It would be like a 5 hour walk -someday we would LOVE to go back. This was one of our FAVORITE places so far on this 1 year trip!

    5:30 Lisa, don't too worry pls, we all like your face with any sort of your emotions.
    At least, I surely do, haha !!
    It seems to me, your vlogs become more emotional recently than just "hey, look at that stuff"-type.
    As for me, it is interesting because you are "real yourself", not to overhelmed or something.
    (sorry for my English, it is not good enough to express this properly and of course I do not mean to hurt you somehow).
    I know you're in VietNam now, so I wish you both good luck there in your journey.
    You are a good couple.

      Thanks! I'm glad you've watched our journey from pretty much the beginning! We have many more awesome places to feature in upcoming videos and I hope they get better and better and more "real!"

    Wow, gorgeous views! I can't imagine how busy those trails are in the summer! Did the locals seem jaded by tourism or were they welcoming and friendly?

    • @HappyHoppe
      @HappyHoppe  6 років тому

      The fisherman we talked to was really friendly - he even told us exactly where to walk for the best views :) and yeah on a sunny summer day it's probably packed, but at least with the train and the trails it makes it easy to get around, unlike the Almalfi coast!

    Hey Lisa! Was wondering if you were using a pedometer to count how many miles you've walked in a year? Love you! Aunt T

      Milay Hi Tracy!!! I said the same thing. I think just recently they got some app that tracks their distance. Don't know if they are using it all the time!

      So while we were in Europe we were not using anything to count our steps, but just recently Peter has got the Google Fit app (free app) to count our steps. I so wish we had been using it while in Europe!

    Hi Happy Hoppe folks. What time of the year were you there at Cinque Terre? When is it rainy there usually?

    • @HappyHoppe
      @HappyHoppe  5 років тому

      We were there November 7th 😊 I don’t know if it’s always rainy around that time, but it was when we were there for about a week.
      Thanks for watching and commenting 🥳

    we are staying in Monterosso for two days; planning one day on the beach and another hiking, can you do a "in and out" and which part of he trail do you think is the prettiest and (easier on the knees)

    • @HappyHoppe
      @HappyHoppe  6 років тому

      Hope you enjoy your time there! The great thing is - all 5 of the Cinque Terre villages have the train coming in and out of - so you could hike to 1 town and then decide to take the train to the others if your knees are having a hard time.
      I wad carrying about 25lbs and so that was another reason my knees were having a hard time with all the up and down! I want to hike all 5 next time we go and I won't be carrying that much weight!!

      We stayed in La Spezia which is close and more affordable accommodations:)

      @@HappyHoppe Thank you for the reply! I am going end of the month and I think the accommodation is a bit expensive there so I am just wondering if I could do the five villages on a one day trip and then stay somewhere less expensive nearby.

    • @HappyHoppe
      @HappyHoppe  5 років тому +1

      Baizurah Basri, yes La Spezia is only like a 20 minute train ride or something to the first of five villages.
      Enjoy your visit! It is so gorgeous!
