Puller is the only way to get them off if the bearing is stuck, Thanks for the video!
Thanks for posting this straight to the point and very informative video 👍
Thank you i was looking for this specific vid life saver 🍻🍻👌🏼👌🏼
Glad it helped
“Just like that” thanks Ford for creating this. Other manufacturers drums just come off 😂
Goes to show how much you know, quite a few manufacturers have drums quite similar to that.
I would really like to know where you got that puller. mainly the head assembly that goes on the lug studs. I already have the rest of the components I have been looking for one of those for quite some time, any assistance would be helpful thanks in advance.
Sorry about that I will put in the description amzn.to/3itvrSn
@@channelron3593 Thank you so much I will check it out.
are you sure the socket size is a 29 mm? my 03 focus is a 30 in the rear
Not sure? I am thinking that is what I used but maybe I was wrong, could be the years may be different, Thanks for watching.
No Channel Ron is right one I'm working on is 29mm as well!
where did you buy your puller ? I want to buy one
Amazon for about $20.00www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-27037-3-75-Axle-Puller/dp/B004FDMWE0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1526462603&sr=8-6&keywords=hub+puller
folks HELP!...my drum is seized to the axle shaft at the wheel bearing. the wheel bearing is inside the drum hub. my drum puller broke because of the torque used to try and remove the drum. any thoughts? i used a small hand torch to heat the bearing sleeve. it didn't work. what should i try next?
Sounds like the brake adjustment is holding in on? if the puller is not working? not sure
@@channelron3593 . the bearing is welded to the spindle, some how. i took the whole assembly off by removing the spindle from the backing plate. replaced the spindle with a used one, new shoes and drum/bearings.
a lot of trouble for a normally two minute job. i smashed the old spindle a few times with a sledge hammer but it is still stuck in the drum. i put some grease on the replacement spindle to avoid a repeat welded bearing.
@@cocodog85 Nuthin' like 10 pounds of steel on a stick!
@@paulg.celentano5739 never was able to separate the two. the item went to the recycler.
Thanks
Your Welcome! Glad that I could help
What if I don't have a puller?
Umm, (: guess you could put a pry bar behind and maybe work it out?
they never show how much muscle it takes to remove the 29mm nut. good god
This is not the preferred method for this vehicle. You should just remove as the workshop manual states. Remove the drum and bearing assembly as a unit by removing the 4 bolts behind the backing plate. This eliminates the need to replace the bearing, exposing the spindle, and replacing the hub nut.
Thanks for the info I will try that the next time I need to remove it.
Pulling the 4 bolts won't work on a 2010 focus unless you want it all in your lap - be careful what year you do this on.
The manual states this, but at least on my 2004, the brake lines are in the way of the bolts so it's not practical at all.
It may depend on the model year because the bearings and studs are already installed on the replacement drum for the 2010 Focus. www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-drum-rear/duralast-brake-drum-22116/315959_0_0
This is basically how I am going to have to remove my drums because my rear driverside bearing is shot and has fused to the drum housing.
