    I would be so scared to handle those flutes cuz I drop everything... but they are really beautiful... and the tone is fantastic. I really like the inline nature of the fingering. It's similar to a native flute but held sideways. The raised rings around the finger holes is brilliant. They look like they're really well made. Great review Molly.

      @MusicalMollyKhan  3 роки тому +2

      Haha, me too! They are a bit scary to handle for sure. They offer an offset fingering as well, but I prefer the inline. Thanks for watching 😊

    They really sound great and unique, the tone is very pure and strong. The sound is similar to something I would get from my classical flute but it’s a little too pure for me, I need some gritty dirty character to the sound. Certain penny whistles really do the trick for sure

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  2 роки тому

      I completely understand. I personally love that completely pure sound and I have the hardest time with whistles because of it 🤣

      @@MusicalMollyKhan I have a Clarke celtic(same as the sweet one) and a Clark original and the Celtic is too pure, the original Clark is massively airy while the Celtic is pretty darn pure. Often I find that the musician wants a clean sound when they play solo often and like the sound clean, but from a composer mind I cherish the textured characteristics in the entire mix, it fills up the audio with character

    These come in various keys (around 7 or 9 of them) but they should make lower pitched versions & they'll be plastic to minimize brekage.

    Hi, my name is Dat. I love your video. I also own 1 of the Hall crystal flutes in low d. You know you can reach all the way to the highest d, not just high b. there also are fingerings for some of the accidentals on the 3rd octave as well.
    Thanks for a lovely video.

      Thanks for the reply. Have a question for you:
      I'm having a little difficult time getting rid of the latency for the lowest note, I mean I can play the low d but there's always a little delay and I don't know how to get rid of that. I've been asking around but have not getting the solution yet.
      Thanks.

    Thank you for this helpful review! I have a quick question though, is this flute able to play a flatted 7th in tune fairly well? I see there is a fingering without half holing for the 7th note flattened, but since there is no thumb hole I'm wondering if it plays that note well or not. Please let me know!

    • @MusicalMollyKhan

      I just got these out and tested it! It took a bit of adjustment with my breath, but it can definitely be in tune!

    Wow! These are lovely and sound so pretty! Now uuou have me interested in another instrument! Ha! ~ Groth Music has so many different Keys! So if I buy a flute in the Key of D, does that mean I would only play music in Key of D (especially with other instruments, like harp, guitar or piano)?

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  3 роки тому +1

      It's a beautiful instrument! Generally, that just means it's *easier* to play in the key of D, but you can still get chromatic notes by using slightly more complicated fingerings 😊

    • @Denise-SA
      @Denise-SA 3 роки тому

      @@MusicalMollyKhan I bought the Key of D flute! Hurrah! - and, it arrived today "Easter Sunday" at 1:38 p.m.!!! I'm so excited! Now, I have to learn "how to" get sounds out of it. I might have to get a flute teacher to help ... It would be so nice to just "play some songs now!" Ha! However ... all in time! It is, however, a gorgeous flute! So exciting! Thank you for this video because I would never have known about it!

    I play the flute and i’ve only played key of C ever since i started a couple years ago. I was planning on getting one of these flutes in the key of D but i’m not sure if the fingerings are the same as the flute in C or if i would basically have to re-learn the instrument again. Is there any differences i should know about?

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  2 роки тому +2

      It's a bit confusing! It's the same fingerings but it will be one off because of the change of key - so basically, the easiest way to think of it is that you can take music in the key of C, play it as-is on your D flute, and it will 'magically' be in the key of D without any transposing on your part. If you want to play "in key" though, you will need to re-learn fingerings (such that low D will be all fingers down whereas you are used to C). I hope that makes sense!

    i pick a bamboo flute yesterday, is that need to clean after we play several time?? because i saw my bamboo was moldy already, is that still can be use??

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  3 роки тому

      Hmm that's a really good question that I don't know the answer to! That's never happened to me. I think it would be good to invest in a cleaning kit with a long thin brush like this one: amzn.to/3hSho99 and then make sure to keep it out in the open until it dries and then you can put it away 😊
