John Curry was a brave man who believed in himself and his talents. He fought for what he wanted to do inspite of what judge's or coaches told him what not to do. I love his answer to all the questions he was asked. Even the ridiculous ones. I feel his open honesty made him a true champion off and on the ice.
Remembering this interview was. more than 40 years ago...seems like yesterday I had the privelege of seeing him perform live. I was amazed then and more so now seeing him out perform any skater that has come along in those years. His Olympic performance still blows me away. He had such a passion and calling. Miss him.
He was beautiful. Too bad he skated before my time but what would it have been like to see him in person or even to talk to him. Skaters today should study his artistry.
Based on his comment and question at 9:03 that interviewer should have been fired from his job. John was heroic to not walk off. John's performances have certainly made a lot more people happy than any of the interviews that that interviewer has done.

What a gem of an interview!
I’m watching Beijing Olympics (2022) and remembered John from ‘76. What a great guy and sadly missed.
Oh... John Curry! Just beautiful and courageous!

Legend
"Make people feel something..." Hack, this skating dude made me and millions others who trod this poor planet of ours *cry* when watching him skate.

That really doesn't matter. John's genius shone threw.
But his response showed just what a wonderful, classy man he was 👌🏻
The interviewer is obnoxious.
Yes.
