I don’t recall the “pinup” type page in the original either. I still have the original issue 1 but it is signed by Marc so I won’t be opening it😂. It looks like Brandon Peterson to me?
Marc initially pitched Cyber Force to Bob Harras as a spinoff book of the X-Men, which accounts for a lot of the similarities Cyber Force had in the early days with the X-Men. He wanted his own book after Jim's success with X-Men #1 - prior to Cyber Force he had pitched a spinoff of Wolverine that didn't go anywhere because of the Weapon X storyline. I'm curious now what the Wolverine spinoff he developed that was rejected.
There were a few pages where you were wondering if marc drew it (the big splash of 3 arm guy) or why he pulled out the details (impact punching pitt). Those pages were NOT in the original book. They were added for the collected edition and im assuming they were added to make the page turns stay in sync because ads and all that extra fluff isn’t in the collected book. I have That collection right here with me and was similarly surprised years ago when i got it cause i knew them shits weren’t in the original 4 issues published. Idk, fyi.
Issue one of Pitt is my Favorite of this era, you feel the passion Dale put in that comic, not the the other didn't do it. I got a soft spot for swollen dudes beating up everything in their path. Also remember that dope issue of Cyblade/ Shi, smoking hot art and action.
15-year-old me would be astonished to learn it was "Mother May I" as in "Mother, may I have ice cream?" and not "Mother May" with a roman numeral one, like she was the first Mother May.
I like Silvestri’s not so polished look from his X-Men/Wolverine/Cyberforce era, regardless of who’s inking him. (There are four inkers credited in issue 2, btw) Now I can see some sort of Buscema influence on his work. Conceptually speaking, Cyberforce feels like X-Men meets Terminator and it tries to be James Cameron-esque - Wetworks could have been that but vampire clans and whatever and both are more interesting than early WildCATS. I also admire that Silvestri’s still got better after Image, his New X-Men issues are fabulous. You should give a look to Silvestri’s Spawn issue - I think It’s the model for Capullo’s run.
Awesome! I recently got the Wolverine Omnibus vol 3, which features Silvestri's entire first run on Wolverine, with Dan Green inks. His best work IMO, and it never looked better. Waiting for vol 4 for the little section on Mark Texeira.
He's so excellent at gestural drawings. I do wish his tight shots looked better somehow. The eyes look placed funny, the same characters facial proportions seem to vary a lot from panel to panel. maybe it's just me.
FINALLY, a video featuring the underated & never duplicated WARBUCK!!! 🥳 🦌 There's several bonus insert splash pages that aren't in the original individual issues. It looks like they were drawn by another artist to me or maybe laid out by Marc!
I think the quality you were talking about might have come from the way it was stored digitally back in the the day because i kinda remember Matt Hawkins saying years ago that the way cyberforce was stored was on a tech that was outdated and would have to spend a huge amount on to retrieve the files. I think this was in response to being asked why it hadn’t been reprinted but obviously they have over come this. So love this book and Marcs art
yeah a lot of the old Wildstorm art was on CDs and in this one room they called "the library" it was where they stored all the CDs of the books with their original TIFF files etc.
What’s up Dude!!! I missed out completely on Cyber Force when it originally came out, I was such a snob calling it a X-Men knock off, what a dumb kid I was now I’m such a Marc super fan and grateful for the collection of the this awesome series
it's good the art overall for the series is really nice.. It's been forever since I've read the first 25 issues or so...so I am curious where it all goes with more comics read!
If youre looking for non Image stuff, would you be into reviewing some of the old Whilce Portacio Punisher issues? Thats the stuff that got me into comics and drawing comics, still love it. I think it was Punisher #8 and #9, a wall street 2 part story.
RF.. great talk about, always hated panel's with just a color back drop, especially after buying the book,it takes a lot to be a comic book artist but as a fan their fun to follow..🕷️
That is what I asked you in another video. Would they world in group to put out pages and books? Why is it? What is the pressure to put out books? We can notice when is not Silvestri, or Finch on Ascension.
looks like there might have been about a 5 month gap between issue 1 and 2. (approximate)
You gonna cover Jim Lee/ Marc Silvestri crossover? That has some wicked action
i just purchased the complete cyber force vol 1 it is fabulously drawn and filled with rich and lush artwork by all involved,
Marc is still rocking it hard, his current Batman mini is looking epic
I read issue 3 today. I liked it@!@
Love this series, so 90s
it really is...reading it, it was REALLY 90's/ haha
@@RichardFriendartist the 80's and 90's are the Golden Age of Comics.
I will always remember the crossover between WildCATS & Cyberforce with Jim Lee's double pages!!! Great video Rich!
That character with the sword was fire!!!

maybe I'm wrong...I didn't think of it that way!!

Nice, so glade you did this. I have the omnibus that DCcollected some months back.
Man I laughed out loud when you said “pitt passed out on a couch, just like dale keown..”. Dude. Thats funny man. If u know.. u know.
I missed it live but I think everyone heard about it! hahaha

Those Texeira’s issues are incredible
@@luciferfernandez7094 Agreed!
yeah those are cool. I need to revisit TEX!
Really struggling right now. This video is a boon to a terrible day. 👍👍
hang in there man, Things will make a turn for the better!!

@@RichardFriendartist Hey! I'm visiting a friend who literally compiled the pages for that omnibus. Those pages were stored one...tape drives!

War Buck has long been my favorite character, Rich. Thanks for mocking him the entire video. How dare you! 🤨
