I remember attending a few Benny Hinn event with my mother around 8/9/10 yrs old. I never understood it at that age. My mother suffered from a few unknown illness for many years. I remember she was always sending money to Benny's ministry, along with a few others, getting prayer cloth, oils, and whatever. She would listen to his sermons and tapings on repeat all day. She was never healed, sadly she passed away 2010 during my last year of college. I'm so thankful Yah has healed my heart from the pain and sadness. I thankful the experience never lead me to question God and His power, rather He lead me to His truth. Now, I stay very far away from those types of false preachers and ministry.

I have a different testimony…My maternal Granny used to love watching Benny Hinn while I would brush her hair. One time we were watching and I began praying over her as he guided prayer. I was only 11 years old. I don’t remember what I was praying for, but all of a sudden, I realized I wasn’t speaking in English anymore, had no idea what I was saying, & didn’t even know what speaking or praying in tongues was at that time. I just knew other kinds of sounds were coming out of my mouth, and I also just **knew** I was praying specifically for her “extension of life”, which definitely wasn’t what I was praying for prior to this! I didn’t even fully understand what that was either.
I did know my granny suffered from polycystic kidney disease and had been sick most of her life, and had been on dialysis all of my life. I didn’t know she was actually dying at that time, which might be why she had come to live with us.
      She lived 3 more years.
I could never speak in tongues again, until I was an adult, but I always remembered that moment which was completely inspired by what we were watching. Spiritual gifts are very real and God’s anointing is heavy on Minister Benny Hinn. Just because not everyone receives through that specific vessel or channel, doesn’t mean no one does.
It’s not our job to judge another person‘s personal walk with Christ, nor their heart towards Him, God Himself will do that when their time comes.
We aren’t supposed to look for God to move thru a specific person or place, we’re just supposed to look for God! and He will move thru whomever and wherever He chooses when He chooses to do so.
Some He will heal instantly, others through a process, others will receive their healing and wholeness on the other side. We should just love and serve Him and His people regardless, and don’t knock His power when it is at work.
The Bible says that anyone who professes JESUS IS LORD belongs to Him. NO ONE is perfect or righteous without Christ.
I pray you continue to grow in Him. Me too! And all His children 🌈💖
      God bless!

As someone who grew up as a Baptist and attended the church where the gospel was preached from the Bible, I really needed this. I’ve been struggling to find a church and I’m surrounded by the big churches that feel like a concert production. I never felt God there (at least I didn’t…I cannot speak for others). I thought I was struggling with God, but I see now it was the place that I was looking for him. Thank you for this. 🙏🏻❤️

I was raised Roman Catholic. Got born again and at age 26 I left. Was in an Assemblies of God church and listened to a lot of TBN, and read the Bible a lot. Felt the Lord call me to move to Tulsa, attended Rhema Bible College and was a member of Kenneth Hagin's church for 15 years. But some of that stuff didn't seem right. Left and attended a few non-denoms and another A/G for a while. Then when I was talking to God about how little Bible and how much bad worship I was seeing in churches, He impressed on me to attend an ACNA Anglican parish. Wow! As soon as the service began, I knew I was where I belonged. No stage performance. Choir in the back, and we're singing very old hymns that are edifying. More scripture being read. 98% of the theology is Biblically sound (maybe I am the problem with the other 2%, maybe not, but no earthly church is perfect). The service is respectful of God's majesty, not wild or emotional.
In the past I would have bought into the claim that liturgical churches "stifle the Holy Spirit," but most of what I've seen in so-called spirit-filled churches has been questionable or outright fakery. Heh, I'll never forget how cold and foreboding a feeling I had when Copeland walked by me in the hallway as I was ushering one day when he was a guest speaker at Rhema, or the time at another church when Mario Murillo pointed me out and told me God was healing me of a back problem (but I have never had a problem with my back). 😆 So I don't think I'm missing out on much by being in the Anglican church!
Baptist churches are pretty good, too. I went to one near my house but felt off-put by their closed communion. I figured if they would not regard me as a brother in the Lord on my say-so, without being baptized at *their* church, then I wasn't really welcome there. (I told them I'd been paedobaptized by the RCC and totally immersed in the A/G church, and I wasn't getting baptized a 3rd time just for them!) 😂

Same here. I don't think speaking in tongues, prophecy and healings should be totally thrown out because of the frauds being fraudy(though he isn't necessarily saying that) and "modern apostles" may just simply be uncomfortable to the American church. And therefore not acceptable to a majority of the Church in American. Things are very different in other countries in regards to how the gifts of the Spirit and the Spirit itself is manifested, specifically how well those things are acceptable. However, I also won't say that I know for sure that he isn't completely right on all of it and I'm in the wrong. In effort to not be a doubting person or have a "spirit of religion"(southern baptist raised boi right here), I've tried to not be so "reformed" to miss the manifestation of the Spirit in the last 10 years. It's been quite the education. But he is right in that we need to put all of these events and spectacles up against Scripture. It's either to be our source of doctrine and standard or thrown out completely. Nothing in between can be acceptable or orderly, as God is orderly. Also, and this is not any kind of a biblical standard, Costi was very clear minded and confident in his words. Like a steadfast faith thats comforting to the listener rather than a insistent, insecure effort to pull people into a "ministers" sway.

Former charismatic, prosperity gospeler here - I made a 180 6 years ago and it all started with me literally deciding to read my Bible daily. I do 3 chapters a day with a psalm following original TaNaK order for Hebrew Bible and then work through the NT. It did not happen in that first year but I started questioning things. The second year I was understanding more of my Bible and really thinking things were off in the church. By the third year we couldn’t have left the church fast enough. I continue this same reading every year and still find new things throughout the Bible, things that jump out for certain seasons, etc. the church I was in had some biblical things sprinkled with some really unbiblical things. Lots of bethel influence, chaotic deliverance ministry, passion translation usage, etc. I’m so glad we left.

@@rinihogewoning6528and that's why there are so many Catholics on the wrong path...99.99% never open a Bible or even own one. They believe in tradition, works, idol worship. Whatever the man in the robe tells them, they never question. They believe that penance (works,) not repentance, is how to be forgiven of their sins and they believe that man in the robe (50% of whom are gay now) has the power to forgive sins.I know all of this because I married into a family of Catholics. I didn't convert or get an annulment (I was divorced.) And now I know that Catholicism is a heretical practice and am praying that God pulls my husband out of there!!!

I do know multiple people who have raised the dead, I myself was physically healed by someone praying, and I was set free from mental illness from a word of knowledge from a stage in the middle of a Jesus Culture concert. I think through Costi’s trauma he has thrown out the baby with the bath water. But he is clearly sincere and is constantly sending listeners to read the Bible for themselves, so I can’t be too harsh as that is solid advice for answering any question

Unfortunately the last A/G church soured me. Very little Bible teaching. "Praise and worship" had become a stage performance, with unedifying songs like "Anything can happen, anything can happen in this place" repeated over and over. (Really, *anything* at all can happen? Can the devil walk in here and take over? 🤨 ) Now our Lord has planted me in an ACNA Anglican parish.

I don't like Pentecostal anymore but my A/G church wasn't prosperity Gospel either. My family attended that church for almost two decades.
What soured us on it was actually a personal issue involving my sister and a Guy from the church, with the pastor making a bad call which basically betrayed our family. So we stopped attending. Nothing to do with the teaching or the prosperity Gospel or anything like that.
However, I have since come to reject dispensationalism as Biblically sound so I have no desire to attend a Pentecostal church anymore.

On Catholicism, we do believe that we are saved by grace through faith, and that even our faith is a gift from God, as is stated in Ephesians 2:8-9. We do not believe that we can be saved by works alone. However, we do not ignore James 2:14-26 which tells us that faith without works is dead. We do seek to perfect our faith through works of mercy.
Regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary, we absolutely venerate, honor, and maintain devotion to the Mother of God. We do not worship or adore Mary - this is reserved for God alone. For reference, CCC 971 covers devotion to the Blessed Mother.
I would encourage you to have an informed, practicing Catholic on the podcast to answer your questions on Catholicism, because what was stated here was incorrect and will sow confusion and a false understanding of the Catholic faith.
    God bless!

Faith without works is dead. Our works flow from a new heart that worships God and if there are no works then there is no faith. Respectfully he was spot on w his interpretation of Catholic doctrine. Much like the Mormons, Prots would disagree w the Catholic interpretation of James 2.

As a cradle Roman Catholic (now Anglican), I think it is safe for me to say (based on Trent and on CCC 2010) that the RCC teaches saving grace coming through a combination of faith + works. Whereas the Bible teaches that saving grace (justification, the righteousness of God) comes only through faith, and that the good works we do are not our own but are the fruits of the Holy Spirit who indwells us, leads us, and enables us to do the works. It's a fairly significant difference. If any Protestant says Catholics think they're save through works, they really are being sloppy in their wording because they actually mean 'faith plus works' (which is the true RC stance).
Why do protestants believe the Bible teaches that we are saved only through faith? Consider the doctrine of orginal sin, which says that the sin of Adam is imputed to every human infant descended from Adam, even though that infant has not committed any sin on his own. Jesus is called the "last Adam" in 1 Cor. 15:45, for even though Jesus was perfectly righteous and without sin, the Father (in His mercy) imputed your sins and mine to Jesus' account as He hung on the cross. Jesus thus atoned for our sins and redeemed us from them. *This is the divine exchange: because our sins were imputed to Christ, Christ's righteousness can be imputed to us, if we believe.* Even though we don't deserve it, we cannot earn it, and we will never be righteous in and of ourselves, God will tally *His* righteousness to *our* own account and will view us *as if* we were sinless.
Romans 4:3-- Abraham had righteousness counted (imputed) to him before he was circumcised.
Rom 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but *believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted* (imputed) for righteousness."
Rom 4:24-25 "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed," if we are baptized... oops, it says, "if we *believe* on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."
You mention Mary and say RCs do not "adore" Mary. Maybe the ones you know do not, but a great many RCs do adore her. Some go so far as to call her "co-Mediatrix" or "co-Redemptrix." They speak of giving Mary "hyperdulia." Any RC who prays the Rosary is spending 90% of their prayer time talking to Mary, and only 10% to God; yet God the Holy Spirit lives right inside of each believing Christian, so the RC is talking right past our Lord and leaving voice messages for Mary which she might never hear (since she is a finite human and lacks omniscience, how can she 'hear' the millions of daily spoken & unspoken requests directed her way?). Some of the Marian apparitions have claimed to hold the power to dispense grace freely of her own accord and the right to guarantee salvation to those who pray her Rosary daily (read "The Secret of the Rosary" by St. Louis De Montfort). But early church writings reveal no one praying to Mary or elevating her status, at the very least until the circulation of the heretical "Protevangelium of James" in the late 2nd Century and the Gnostic-influenced "Book of Mary's Repose" in the 3rd Century. Marianism was never taught by Jesus or the Apostles, it is a later accretion in the church, and Christians should be very cautious about it.

I loved this podcast. A little upset about his comments regarding Catholicism, but hey no judgment on his convictions.
As a Roman Catholic, I know I am saved by grace through faith alone. Through my faith in Him, I desire to do good works as an understanding that that is what God wants for us - it will not get me any closer to or farther from heaven, but it is my way of showing respect to the Father that I honour and love His Creation. I have never once heard from my priest that I have to do anything other than believe to be saved. Any and everything I do is to just open my heart up more to Jesus and the Spirit. The more I do for Him, the more he engulfs my life. It is not for me or my salvation, it is all for Him.
John 19:26-27 As He hangs on the cross, Jesus tells his mother Mary that John is her son and tells John that Mary is his mother. This tells me that we should all treat Mary as Mother. He had John take her into his home after Jesus' resurrection. This is such respect for his mother, ensuring her care after His death and resurrection. I do not pray to Mary as a goddess, there is no other God besides Him Most High. I encourage you listen to the podcast Pints With Aquinas for some true Catholic doctrine.

I agree, I believe that there will be catholics in people of every Christian denomination and heaven. It matters where their heart is. It matters that they have a relationship with God... If some of us were confused about anythings that may be false doctrine... I believe God is merciful. And he only wants us to know Jesus and have his love in our heart and be growing. My son really struggled with christianity and he recently got saved to catholicism. He even says there's things he does not believe that they do. But it is what hes drawn to. And I do believe hes going to haven

That's actually not in line with what the RCC teaches. Part 3: Section 1: Chapter 3: Article 2: III Merit: lines 2008 and 2010 of their catechism teaches that, through faith, grace enables your works to earn merit. And once your works have the ability to earn merit, you can then go on to earn salvation. They've been less vocal about it since that's a major division between the RCC and Protestants, and the RCC has been trying to be more ecumenical with us. What you articulated is more in line with what Paul teaches in Ephesians 2:8-10, but the formula that your church teaches puts them under the Anathema that Paul announced in Galatians 1.

    • @KnightFel
      @KnightFel 11 місяців тому +5

Then you aren’t really a Roman Catholic or your priest either does not know the official Catholic teaching on such matters or refuses to tell you. What you’re describing (aside from Mary), is biblical classical Protestantism. What he’s not telling you is that you must participate in the Eucharist to have your sins continually forgiven, that even though you believe and participate in the Eucharist thousands of times, you can commit a mortal sin and still go to hell. I saw you didn’t mention purgatory either. Purgatory is a fundamental denial of the gospel.
You were right in everything you said except Mary. Catholic theology forces Mary upon you. What you believe about Mary is not biblical. You are reading into the text what you want it to believe.
If you are saved, it is in spite of what Rome teaches, not because of it. I URGE you to learn what your own church teaches. Read the catechisms. It is not biblical. But praise God he saves even Catholics in their errors.

Thank you so much for this! This was such great information & clear truth spoken and in a loving way. I grew up in a Vineyard church which taught the prosperity gospel and “everybody who has enough faith gets their prayers answered”. Once the Bethel doctrine came on the scene they were all in on it. Thankfully the youth pastor was not aligned with all that nonsense and he was 100% Christ and Bible and he got me on the right track.
As an adult though, I constantly struggle with being frustrated when prayers for healing go unanswered. I have to remind myself that suffering IS a part of life and God has a divine purpose in it…and even when I don’t understand, His plan is always the best one.

“Can someone be saved within a false system?”
“Yes because they belong to God, but they won’t stay there.”
Thank you for asking that question! And thank you for the answer. Jesus saved me from the new age intermingled with the prosperity gospel (the two work well together and seem one and the same to me now). I’m a baby to Christianity, to what I would call now true Christianity. But this interview was so helpful in clarifying for me some of the differences in online ministries I’ve come across, and confirming for me moments when my conscience (or the Holy Spirit?) is telling me certain Pastors/ministries/denominations are not on par with the Lord’s teaching. I was raised Catholic but have been searching since my teens for true salvation. I’ve studied eastern religions and got a taste of 12 step spirituality which led me to the new age…and then one day Jesus came to me in meditation and led me out of hell. And I’ve felt in my heart that I am His and belong to Him, despite all my wayward wandering. It took me nearly 43 years to realize it was Jesus knocking the whole time🥲I’ve been carrying such guilt and doubt but this interview helped so much!🙏🏼❤️

I had a similar kind of background. Cradle Catholic to nominal Catholic, then got swept up into the Buddhisty end of New Age, then finally born again shortly after being called out of the New Age by God while listening to an Eckhart Tolle audiobook.
But the way Scripture describes it, God's had our names written in his Book of Life from the foundation of the world. So at the same moment that God was in the garden listening to Adam give names to all the animals he made, he already knew we were going to be born, knew that we were going to go through a season of wandering, and already knew how he was going to get us out of it.

Loved it! Great episode, I was a bit hesitant at first to listen thinking it would be a dense conversation about church drama, but was pleasantly surprised with guest’s grace and respectful tone. What I take away is the importance of reading and studying the Bible personally and not relying blindly on the teaching of a spiritual leader. A common thread in people who come out of false teaching or cults is that they started testing what they were taught against what the Bible actually said. But overall is trusting the sovereignty of God who is the one who leads us to the truth.

I was saved in a seeker friendly church and my eyes were opened to the false meology (self focused inspirational speakers) during the pandemic. Without the worship band creating all this emotionalism and just listening to the sermon online I had realized that my church was not biblical at all. They were bending over backwards and going with all the George Floyd and BLM stuff and trying to shame everyone as being racist that's all they ever talked about. They never addressed pride month they were too busy calling us all racists. I was very nauseous and sick in the stomach hearing it all when they were like that all along. 💔 I was just too emotionally drawn in to realize it.
Thanks to listening to apologetics preachers and a lot of the Christian podcasts during 2020 where the people are solidly biblical I realized what my church was and that i needed to leave. I was lucky enough to find a solid church after that but I was basically invisible to anyone I used to go to church with. They snub me now. But it doesn't shock me because I already know who's leading them. (misleading them) and pray they see the truth one day 🙏
You share a lot of secrets with people that may not know God at all. Some can be wicked with them when they no longer see you as one of them. Be discerning. Especially ladies groups. I no longer attend any of them. 🙏

It is remarkable how often the Catholic view on Mary is misrepresented as worship or something akin. It is very frustrating to hear someone like this claim to know the ins and outs when he cannot even express his own beliefs in solid terms. When we pray we ask those who have died to intercede and pray for us on our behalf. As Christians, do we not believe in eternal life? And if the answer is yes how can someone like this claim to know the nature of eternal life? This is just one issue. This man is just another giving his own interpretation of the Gospel that is most convenient to his world view.

I loved the church immediately but wondered if there was something else out there that would be better for us. Maybe because “trendy” churches are the thing right now. But after watching this video I realized we are right where God wants us. Our church is not flashy, it preaches the gospel beautifully, I always leave church motivated to be a better Christian never feeling like I’m already a good Christian. Like I've been filled, overflowing with thoughts about where I need to grow in my faith, where I should glorify the Lord, eyes opened to where I need to focus on God. Visiting other churches where the focus isn't on the Bible, I find myself hungry after the sermon, like I've had a small smell of the word of God, but I've been starved of it. I do believe God can use that by having you hungry for Him so that you seek him more when you're home.

Rome/ Catholisism is not home for those who want forgivenes/ remission of sins only given through faith in Christ's one and only sacrifice on the cross. Salvation is through faith in Jesus the rock the door, the bread of life, the lmk lamb of God--- Are these descriptions of Christ literal? The Catholic religion came up hundreds of years after Christ. Our faith and obedience must be on Jesus' word as he said his word is "Spirit and truth" Jesus is the only mediator between God and man Acts 4,:12 When we die, we know nothing Ecclediastes 9;6, Only a select few that are mentioned in Gods word were translated into heanven,
      like Enoch, Elisha.
Lastly, Mary isn't the mother of mo 0ne bit her own children she had after Jesus
NO APOSTLE EVER REFERED TO MARY AS HIS MOTHER NOR INTERCESDOR.

I saw a post from my church's recommended reading list, including Lucado, Warren, Batterson, Groeschel! From what I'd found out, definite red flags! Oh, by the way, the reason I wasn't healing was I needed to take it easy. My body wasn't healing because I wouldn't allow myself to rest it! Once I did, I was able to heal. Yes, I was told I needed more faith! I don't want anyone to ever feel like I did. It was horrible. God bless you for getting the word out to expose these false teachers💗🙏💗🕊

Glad you figured it out. Less 'word of faith'! More Bible! 😆

I always leave church feeling good...even if my toes get stepped on. My Father cares enough to correct me when I need it and that comforts me.

I’m so happy that Costi Hinn is on her podcast, I’ve listened to her on Bible based topics and I wanted to recommend Costi Hinn to be on her podcast so bad!!

I actually went to VCC with Costi as a preteen, with his Dad as the pastor. (Maiden name ‘Spring’, in case you see this, Costi.) This podcast has given me much to think about in light of even my time at VCC and other churches following. But most valuable was the advice for seeking out a Bible-teaching church. Thanks, Alex, for yet another great podcast!
