    • @Ciulster
      @Ciulster 2 місяці тому +2

      Could have been a lack of maintenance too. Those late 90's early 2000's Honda cruisers need to have the front brake pivot greased regularly or they get really choppy and you end up applying more brake than you meant because you have to squeeze harder than normal to get it to jump to the next notch. Combine that with a panic brake situation and yeah I could see it happening.

    Dan, great video again as usual, thanks. I note your comment on open face helmets and as a physician I absolutely agree with protection of the facial and especially mandibular area during high energy impact injury of a motorcycle RTC. However I also note that the CHP and many other police agency motor officers ride with open face helmets as part of their assigned uniform. What is your take on their stance of being open and connected to the public by wearing an open face helmet?

  • @armandonorig
    @armandonorig 2 місяці тому

    What i've seen so many times in these videos is that people panics a lot when driving bikes and also, many people buy big bikes when don't know how to drive and feel confident. You should always start by driving smaller bikes between 150 or 200 cc and then, after some months you may start riding bigger engines. Also practice breaking, turning, accelerating, etc.

    I suspect the one at 12:00 was the rider behind the car, not the cammer she was talking about but she was confused about which of the three near bikes did it. The rider behind was a delivery driver on learner plates who often let's just say are not renowned for their riding skill and can be a little lax on actually being licenced. Add to that she was getting out before the cammer gets there and where she looked for damage tallies with the position of the delivery rider.

    • @Awaks
      @Awaks Місяць тому

      Pretty spot on.
      Didn't get the yapping from the cammer. Obviously something occurred before you arrived, it happens in lot in these scenarios. She didn't slam on her brakes or anything, so there's so semblance to any sort of scam there.
      To go on such a weird tangent when she asked a question since she opened her door and coincidentally had 3 bikes sitting behind her, in that split second is quite weird 😂. Why couldn't he think that ooh, maybe the bike directly behind her might have done something, which is why she quite literally "asked a question" and didn't just blame one of them?

    Other day, two lanes, I was in the left lane. Car ahead to my right, bike behind to my right. Plenty of room to move over. I signaled and started to move over (slowly). Biker sped up, honked, then shouted at me. Dudes, bikers, please. If there's room, if no one's hurt, calm down. I still don't know why he sped up except that he didn't want to get 'cut off.' I should also note that we were all moving at the same speed (~40 MPH).

    1. Laws may vary, but I believe it is illegal to change lanes in an intersection. I believe so because it is dangerous enough in an intersection.
    2. The woman getting out of her car at night in traffic is a nut. Awesome she was made aware she was being videoed. Maybe increasing awareness of being videoed will make those insurance scammers think twice.
    3. Be extremely careful being the first in an intersection, look left & right carefully.

    With the lady who opened the car door - a friend hit a door once, and it ended up court. Judge was furious that the door opener had wasted his time and nearly put them in jail for using a car door as a deadly weapon, since you could kill a someone doing that. Also made them pay all the legal fees of the rider. Ruling was anyone who opens the door without checking is negligent, and if you open it to confront a rider, proving you knew a vehicle was approaching, then it's malicious intent.

    I get the usefulness of cardos etc, however not all of us WANT to hear other ppl talking in our ear while riding. We ride to escape the noise and chatter of life. I personally don't want a cardo for anything other than perhaps music. That's it!

      This is a group ride. DDtF is talking about getting comms (and is taking the opportunity to plug a sponsor) for group rides. They can be particularly helpful when taking newbies (which seems to be the case here) out riding. Having a communicator doesn't mean you have to connect to other riders. The Cardo Spirit/SpiritHD is solo only, so that might be an option for you.

      @@TheCdubbleyoo I go on group rides twice a week. You thought I didn't realise it's for group rides? Again, not interested. It's a distraction and none of us want 15+ people blabbering in our ears while we ride. I can see the advantage with a small group of up to 3 or 4. More than that and it's more a danger than it is safe. I'll get one for duo and music but yeah. We're probably different here because we are more laid back.

    Always remember that if you hit someone from behind, it doesn't matter that they did a sudden break, it is always your fault: YOU are the one who has to keep a safety distance from the person in front of you.
    If you want to be able the small sticker in someone's rear bumper, just accept the consequences.

      @@jvillain9946 Barely any. If you are following someone from behind, there is no exception to that. If they hit the breaks hard, you have to leave enough distance to break too. I am not talking about someone who merges right in front of you and then breaks.

      That would only make sense if there was a bang or some sound indicating that they got hit. No good reason to swing your door open and jump out that fast. So its very likely she was trying an insurance scam.
