    Excellent! At one restaurant they serve this dish with bean sprouts and fen si instead of celtuce. Now I add fen si along with whatever vegetables are available because the noodles take up the flavor of the sauce and add a wonderful texture.

    Hi thank you many times ,I just made my version of Sichuan fish soup .I made few little mistakes and also made tiny change ,forgive me but im african .But I stay true to 😅the dish.Thank again no regrets.

    We made this last night! It came out fantastic - great recipe! I was glad to find both red and green Sichuan peppercorns and used an equal amount of each. We also removed the seeds from the chilis, perhaps this was overkill but the soup came out amazing.

    I made this twice. First time I didn't toast the peppercorns long enough and I used maybe a little too much bean paste- it ended up being too salty and the aromatics of the peppercorns completely overpowered it. Second time I used a little less bean paste, toasted the peppercorns/chili separately, and even added a small amount of msg - it turned out perfect. I used striped bass that I caught and the texture was wonderful.

    I just recently tried real chinese food (stuff like this), and I became obsessed with it. It's so hard in canada to find real authentic sichuan chinese that's done right, even in the cities.

    Hello Yi, Thank you for this great video showing us how to prepare Szechuan boiled fish. It is not too difficult to cook, but I think getting the ingredients together (esp. the Szechuan pepper and hot chilli bean paste) can be a challenge for some. Instead, I have been cooking this dish using "BAIJIA Hot Fish Flavour Seasoning". In the UK, it can be bought from many good Asian supermarkets (e. g. Wing Yip, Woo Hing, etc). The pack comes with 3 separate packets of ingredients, for the spicy stock, the marinade for the fish and the spicy garnish (ground Szechuan pepper and chilli). My suggestions- use chicken stock (chicken wings) as the base stock; Yi's ginger/scallion/white pepper/Chinese wine marinade is very important, as is cutting the fish slices THINLY. Cost of homemade boiled fish for 4 is about £10; the same in a restaurant- £35-40! Try to cook it yourself.

      Usually you can make your own dao kou la jiao because the peppers need to be roasted! If you want a shortcut, simply roast some chili powder ☺️

    I accidentally used about 3 handfuls of the chilis. It was ungodly spicy, i also just threw all the seeds in as well. Next time ill follow the recipe 😅

      Not sure about Tampa, but there is a little hole in the wall restaurant in orlando called "spicy girl" that has it. Amazing!
