I absolutely love this album, I do feel like it’s a grower. He does cover some topics that he’s already covered for sure, but I think he’s coming from a slightly different perspective this time, but he’s a little kinder, not quite as toxic. There are two/three songs I don’t feel like I’ll listen to as often as stand alone tracks, but they’re still lovely on the ears. What I love most about this album is how he’s approached his vocals, he’s trying new things and it feels so much like authentic 80s British synth wave. Delicious to the Max’. I’ve decided ‘don’t break my heart’ is my ultimate favourite, it’s on repeat.
my favorite album with my favorite reaction channel, and that's saying a lot, I've already seen like 5 reaction videos to this album, I just love how creative you are, and actually getting into the soul of the album by adding in your own theatric flare, loved it in the after hours video, and I love it even more here
My first listen I was feeling weirded out by the album but now it's been on repeat since it's dropped. I think people should stop comparing it to Afterhours if they truly want to enjoy this one. It might be a sequel but it's in its own world🌅
Lets also appreciate the artistic genius of Gavin to really take this reaction next level, adding his own spin and interludes, and scenes. The car seen had me rolling, the dedication is reminiscent of Abel himself!
i love this album more every time listen!! since it's like being in purgatory and abel's going through all his regrets before 'entering heaven' (or not) i think that's why we're hearing fragments of past relationships and not just one like in AH. also abel including that part with quincy is so interesting to me, it makes me think he relates and he's hinting at deep rooted issues maybe with his absent father--also interesting since he kinda alludes to being a father figure for his lover earlier in the album. i kinda disagree about the themes being repetitive, this whole album feels so mature in the way he discusses his issues more than ever i think! honestly i could do without the tyler and wayne features (i expected more from lil wayne, he kind of took me out of it) but other than that the album is really solid and such a cool concept
Well said! I’ll definitely need time to further examine the music and understand the work! I think you make some really good points, especially concerning The Quincy Jones bit.
I agree with this theory too. I haven't come to my own conclusions just yet but the Quincy bit makes sense even though and I think that's very telling that even with an absent parent doesn't make for a bad child and have no future for themselves but it can explain the way they treat their women as Quincy said in his bit. I like your thought and agree! I heard the whole album again last night right before bedtime Abel can do no wrong in my eyes! PeriodT Hahaha XO
Haven't stopped listening to this since it dropped last Friday, haven't heard any other song or album for the time being. Totally obsessed with it, this had never happened - instantly to fall in love with a whole album. After numerous listens, that I can't number, since yesterday started to analyze why are there those interludes by Jim Carrey. This album is about different love relationships Abel had in his life and the interludes are the tool to tell another chapter of romance with the next woman.
@@robbb-we7uj it could honestly mean both tbh because brown caps is also a term for good shrooms, in the end knowing the type of person he was in the mixtape days I wouldn’t be surprised if he meant both lmao
First, how creepy was your car scene! 😅 well done I wasn’t sure after my first listen either. I can’t even explain why. But now after multiple listens I think it’s a great album. Some of the themes we have heard before but that kind of fits in with concept of being stuck in purgatory going through all your passed relationships and associated regrets. I think my favourites are Gasoline, How Do I Make You Love Me, Take My Breath, Sacrfice, Don’t Break My Heart and Less Than Zero. I found the poem at the end by Jim Carey very moving. Especially as it feels like it’s a realization that most of us don’t make until much later in life/if at all. I think it wraps up the concept of the album perfectly and leaves you thinking about your own life and regrets way after you finish listening to the music
Loved your reaction! I am hooked on this whole album. What an amazing story from start to finish. So raw and open. The Weeknd is truly out of this world talented! Love him so much!
First off shout out to you for that creative scene during the take my breath reaction .. that was entertaining and put a smile on my face As for the actual review of the project I think the general consensus is that this one is the type that does need more than once listen to kind of absorb and more fully embrace it . For me I am in love with this already. I feel like I connect on a deep level with it less than zero and phantom regret back to back brings me to tears. I love the nostalgia and melodic beauty of out of time and here we go again Best friends is a groove I heard your married was just such a surprising but successful mesh up between Abel and Lil Wayne. I suppose I can understand the critical things you said and your ambiguity about your feelings because the themes and lyrics are so reminiscent of past eras themes but I think that actually ties in perfectly to the theme of purgatory Abel /The Weeknd sees his patterns but can't seem to break them completely Anyway I think it'll grow on you but even it doesn't at the end of the day music hits us all differently and we all have our own experiences with music , art etc and that's part of the beauty of it . One last thing Can you imagine how lit a stadium full of fans singing along with some of these songs is going to be ? The tour is going to be next level
Gasoline is soooo 80's also gave me Tears For Fears, but what song is is really similar to it is The Promise by When In Rome, check it you want literally made me think of that song when I First heard Gasoline. Also Gasoline top 3 on this Album for me.
hello! i've gotta say that i really love your style of reactions! your empathetic insight is always such a fresh and welcome perspective, also that car bit & narration throughout the video was genius ahaha, keep up the great work!
the weeknd never surprised us he is an incredible artist and his music videos are so i have no words to describe them but are so provocative, originals and controversial, but this is his unique style, i love him and I respect him as an artist, thanks 👍👏👏👌
This album is a sequel to After Hours and the 2nd part in a trilogy. So it helps to focus on the contradictory themes that he’s grappling with between the two albums. Nihilism and hopelessness vs. love and hope. Selfishness vs. selflessness. Regret vs. forgiveness. Death and afterlife vs. rebirth. Chaos vs. peace. The after hours vs. the dawn.
I Absolutley agree with ur critique on subject matter if u look at this album along with the journey of after hours it has a very similar course except for maybe the end. This album has The Weeknd making the best music ever compared to any other album. I hope in the next album he is more spiritual since it seems like he is gaining some sort of spiritual knowledge and it would be the most fitting to talk about that in the “after life”
The theme for this album is so fresh and original. Seeking for approval, yes I approved. :,-). Comments must be short and simple but good job on highlighting the insane transition to TMB. This made me lost my mind😆. Wish you all the best for your channel.
This one took a few listens for me but I get it I enjoy the music a lot and if it’s a new trilogy it’s in its own lane! My fav tracks are gasoline, sacrifice, out of time, & is there someone else!
love this but i honestly prefer after hours a litle bit better. Song like after hours ,until i bleed out, faith, are on another level compared to these songs ( wich i absolutely love them)
There is one artist that I really don't want to recommend like literally, her name is Lorde. She already got 3 studio albums (Pure Heroine, Melodrama, and Solar Power) already and all of them are not even great.🙄🙄 I swear I dont love her works 🙄. I don't get the hype from her fans (aka ellaphants) like her lyricism isn't even that great and profound 🙄. She don't make good albums at all 🙄. I hope you won't listen to Lorde 🏃💨because her albums Pure Heroine, Melodrama, Solar Power are not great. 🙄🙄😑
