Right on, Gunther! About your hair... I say you should comb the coils out, now! Do not wait for the sake of the viewers lol. It seems that you do not care for them... If you don't like them, do any of your viewers? Let your afro/long hair lock on its own! Keep the high top cut, but let the sections form naturally and lock. I'm sure that within a few months your hair would begin to show maturity again... The only maintenance you do is separating though! About 3 months ago I found your channel and saw the crochet method. I had been letting my afro separate/section on its own and then I used a crochet on those sections. It was a great choice to speed up the initial locking. Now I am just letting them grow freeform until further notice! Keep up the good content :D

I reattached my mature locs from 1997-2001 and I've had them now going on 2 months. I am in love with them. I've decided not to do retwists as often...semi-free from starting at the roots. The loc nation has really changes since I had my first set of locs in '97. I realized that at the end of my second set of locs (2005-2015), I was retwisting too much, causing stress on my scalp. This time around, I'm giving my scalp of rest. I'm excited to follow your journey!!!
Yes!!! Straight hair white guy reporting in. I'm a month into my journey and it's already really rewarding. I first thought about getting them all neat but it would've cost a lot of money and there was a risk of damaging the hair. Also my white friends were crying about cultural appropriation while all my black friends were like wtf who cares go for it. I guess I kinda wanna stick it up to all the naysayers that say straight hair doesn't lock up. So happy for your decision 😙
I started my locs myself with two strand twist a little over a year ago and my plan was freeform from that but my hair grows around the locs and not into the locs; this made it impossible for me considering I still wanted them neat as possible for work/life purposes. So I started getting maintenance but I don't go every month. I try for every two to three months based on hair growth. I think your freeform locs will look awesome. God bless.

My hair got used to not being washed for at least 2 or 3 weeks. I have 3b hair and I started with towel rub and did a lot of crochet hooking. I never really liked the appeal of twisting with gel but I will do it to 1 or 2 of my dreads just to see how it is.

Okay so i recently started dreadlocks... and some of them are really tight in the middle but they are loose at the tips and roots... is this a good thing? And can someone explain what is happening?
I've had dreads for about 2 months and I wash my hair about once a week and when I retwist I just use some regular hair grease because my hair stylist stopped replying but mine are turning out very nice and the grease keeps my head moisturized you should try it out for a week

I think you should restart with short hair and regrow a set from start, but domt cut them all off but keep about 9 inches of your hair.
