Brilliant to hear your discussion about a broken NHS. This is a sentiment echoed by so many people, including health professionals past and present. I believe it's important to realise that at some point in our lives we will all become patients who rely on the NHS. Our lives will be in their hands and I do hope that all staff are able and willing to treat us and do us no harm.
Thank you for your comment. We are all patients sooner or later. I believe that there are many of us who want to do the right thing for the people who put their trust in us.
Thanks for sharing. Yes it is really sad the way we patients are treated having to suffer while waiting for authorization from insurance companies. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Are you in the USA? I know that the HMOs and insurance companies can be very difficult to deal with there. Many of us in the UK are concerned that US Healthcare companies will take over our services.
Great to hear you and Bill Farren-Price talking about this serious subject that needs airing.👏🏻 Another time I’d like to hear you discussing healthcare models in different countries, their successes, challenges, and whether you’d foresee any aspects them being adopted in the UK. And your personal experiences as expats and doctor using healthcare abroad.
Thank you! That's a really great idea. All countries struggle to provide high quality helathcare, so UK isn't alone. However, many countries get better outcomes compared to the NHS. We need to look at the reasons why. Constructive criticism of the NHS is regarded as taboo by many people. That's part of the problem.
Loved this Jeremy and talked about things that actually matter also very honest yes god knows who were letting into the country to many numbers for us to cope. I can tell u from personal experience the nhs is broken I've seen and became very ill within the hospital itself and the only reason I survived is because I had a voice and in the end said an not leaving until I get the treatment I need after the 3rd time of being admitted.if I would have been old or mentally retarded in any way without a voice I wud have been dead now.i loved this pod cast Jeremy and you be brave enough to talk about wat actually bloody matters. We love u.
Your enthusiasm is very much appreciated Lee. We have been let down by our Establishment for decades. I suppose that it has always been that way, it's just that these days it's so much more obvious. The current Government seems to have completely given up. Useless. All we can do is to look after ourselves and the people we care about. I'll keep turning up for as long as I can! Have a good weekend Lee.

A total of 746,900 new “permanent-type” migrants moved to the UK last year, the OECD said, up from 488,400 in 2022. The 52.9pc year-on-year rise in new arrivals outpaced all other OECD members. Of the wealthy nations that make up the OECD club, only South Korea had an increase anywhere near the UK's level.
I’ve been a nurse for 40yrs now and have seen the NHS decline over the years, this in my view is the fact that the management who run the NHS hospitals have not got a clue what happens at the patient facing level, and they don’t even ask the patient facing staff their opinion…..people/patients and each one is individual who had individual needs
I agree. I’ve worked with some good managers, but also some terrible ones. Many of them are on a career trajectory that means they have no interest in the welfare of staff and patients. It sounds harsh, but it is what I have seen during my 40 years in the NHS.
Very interesting sitting here in a queue for a hip replacement had referral in June by physio first app with consultant sep 25th god knows how long the queue is after that . Do hope the nhs is still alive!

Not just NHS. UK on the whole has been in decline over the decades. Very sad to watch from outside.
It’s dreadful. We have spineless politicians and a Civil Service that runs rings around them.

It is unsustainable and will end badly. The trouble is the establishment wants it and we have to live with the consequences.

Can a Nuerosergen do hip surgery?😊
I wouldn't let a neurosurgeon do my hip replacement! Similarly, no one in their right mind would want a hip surgeon to remove a brain tumour.
O.k.
