That’s a crazy thing to think about… it would be mind blowing, not only because of the graphical/gameplay enhancements, but the way the game is called Mortal Kombat 1 with a totally different yet similar story… people would be so confused.

OP's comment is in reference to the fighting style which noob saibot uses(his ability is shadow clones) and how in the new mk1 sub zero(aka the guy who later becomes Noob saibot) uses the ice clone in the same way that he later uses his shadow clones(lunching them forwards). Kind of a messy explanation here. Search a sub zero timeline type lore vid and you'll get everything.

Yeah he took the Fire and Water gods power, while Raiden weilds the lighting gods strength. That and it’s computer AI in MK, of course it’s gonna be ridiculously punishing (that one fiery upper kick he keeps landing on sub zero is particularly devastating)

I think it’s pretty lame myself personally. It doesn’t make any sense to why they’re tag teaming now. If there’s an option to shut it on and off it’s cool but feels out of place
I´ve been away from fighting games for almost a decade. I lost all will of playing any of them. But this one looks very fun. Movements and techniques are so fluid and dynamic. And they seem to feel satisfactory when landing.

You're being unfair... Kuai Liang has been Subzero in most MK games... while Bihan has been looked down upon by developers, especially in MK9, so just let him shine, he deserves it too.

Yeah it definitely feels like a re-skinned SF5. MK1 and Mk2 made a lot of money but got into so much trouble. I don't know if MK could ever be that dark again with the way the world is now.

Very mysterious underground like, with old school synths, very mystical oriental music but also some aggressive dark synth stuff, also old school sound effects and distorted voices and echoes. It really sounded and felt like you were in Hell in some sort of time portal back in ancient times amongst humanoid demons and immortal fighters. Even more mysterious with the fighters not talking and having a gore fatality. everything felt like a mystery in MK 1-2. These modern MkS have way too much talking and cut scenes taking away that Mystery, the graphics make the characters look cartoonish compared to real humans used back then. Also the sound effects, the voices sound too cartoonish compared to the mysterious voices used in MK1-2. No modern MK has topped the true Dark Mystic vibe of MK 1-2 the only Holy Grails of all the Saga.

i dont know how i feel about kameo fighters being forced on us and we cant just do 1v1. they feel like modifiers from mk11 and i hated those so hopefully there is a mode without them..
UI and announcer/SFX looks and sounds like from MK9 and enhanced graphics from MK11. To top all that, the interaction while waiting for battle is great instead of having a loading screen.

To be honest if the support characters are the same as the main roster this would be a gem. Sort of like MVC infinite or MVC 3. But at this state right now, it is not gonna surpass mk11.
I wonder if there will be possibility to turn off the cameos. I mean it's nice feature to have but it's being absurdly oversold. First of all the cameo characters are merely empty shells of what they were in the games and the lore, they don't talk, are being ignored by main fighters in introduction, they're like mindless puppets. Second of all based on what I've heard we probably won't get real Sonya, Jax, Kano, not to mention Cyrax or Stryker so they serve only as initiating reminders of awesome characters that didn't make the cut.

The 'Kameo' thing and the old character designs honestly feels a little too gimmicky to me. Out of the big 3 fighting games coming out it's more than likely that MK will be the one I look for on sale. SF6 I preordered and I probably will Tekken 8 as well.

You’ll almost definitely be able to change the announcer though. And to be fair they had tag partners via consumables that functioned just like this in MK 11.
The art for the characters and towers on the loading/tower segments is incredibly generic and sterile looking, not a fan of that art direction at all. Comes across a bit amateurish. From what I've seen of MK1 so far, I'm probably going to give it a miss for a day 1 purchase unless I'm pretty happy with the full roster. The current roster they've released is not very exciting at all.
I miss the look of.1st MK. Tired of this cgi and cartoon looks. It's 2023. Let's get that hologram of real people fighting. If MK and Pit Fighter looked real back then...imagine what we can do now.

Played a tonne of MK in the past growing up and hundreds of hours both on 9 and X. 11 however didn't hit the mark for me, the kombat felt sluggish and not as innovative as the previous 2 games. I really hope this game reverts to older, faster, more versatile kombat.
Late response but I really couldn’t agree more. I redownloaded MK11 the other day just to play MK again. I normally main one of the “ninjas” but I forgot how much I hate how they all play. Scorpion is the only one that’s slightly enjoyable to me but sub-zero, noob, and rain all feel awful to me I don’t even enjoy learning their combos. I’m really looking forward to trying out Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Smoke in this one from what they’ve show they look awesome and enjoyable to me.

I miss the look of.1st MK. Tired of this cgi and cartoon looks. It's 2023. Let's get that hologram of real people fighting. If MK and Pit Fighter looked real back then...imagine what we can do now.
The look of real fighters fighting one another, was the draw back in the day. I don't understand why they bother mo-capping actors and then turning them into cartoons - why bother? The art direction does look gorgeous though.

This MK1, personality to me is nothing but MK9 mixed with MK11. This could have been made for the Xbox One and PS 5. This seems like a money grab.

Played a tonne of MK in the past growing up and hundreds of hours both on 9 and X. 11 however didn't hit the mark for me, the kombat felt sluggish and not as innovative as the previous 2 games. I really hope this game reverts to older, faster, more versatile kombat.
Late response but I really couldn’t agree more. I redownloaded MK11 the other day just to play MK again. I normally main one of the “ninjas” but I forgot how much I hate how they all play. Scorpion is the only one that’s slightly enjoyable to me but sub-zero, noob, and rain all feel awful to me I don’t even enjoy learning their combos.
I’m really looking forward to trying out Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Smoke in this one from what they’ve show they look awesome and enjoyable to me.
If you can't toggle the support characters then I'm sticking with mk11
