For some reason my ears don’t love the altered scale on that D7#5. G harmonic minor which is the notes of Bb major but w an F# instead of F natural. Same for the G#5 chord. I’d use C harmonic minor. Curious your thoughts on that. Great vid!
Completely agree. My approach has changed quite a lot, correct though this video still is, I wouldn't use either nowadays! For building 7#5 voicings I'd use the minor bebop scale (although I'd think of it as a major Bebop scale a 3rd below the dominant chord) Bb C D Eb F F# G A for D7#5 as an example. As a soloist I'd forego scales completely and decorate the 7#5 chord tones with bebop ornaments or utilise some 'outside' chromatic concepts! What do you reckon? Cheers
Hi Ignacy, just letting you know you can sign up for an upcoming free two week course which I'll be launching around the end of May. It'll be focused on all the things which I believe to be important but are often overlooked in super flashy guitar magazines and websites. I hope you're well and that I'll see you over there, cheers! My FREE 'Rethinking Jazz Guitar' course: bit.ly/RethinkingJazzGuitar
@@EulerAngles922 It's the only guitar I have nowadays I'm afraid (although I had others at the time of this video) so it's 7 strings or nothing at all I'm afraid 😅
