@Call Me, BLEGH Me, If You Wanna Reach Me you sound old & sad. That band is great tho. But as a 30 year old with some slightly older gen z friends, the elitism sucks. Just let people like the shit they like and stop trying to feel superior than others. It’s really shitty.
I’m mid 40’s - somewhat out of touch with all the “cores” - and just discovering the genre. I can say it has me interested and excited about music in a way I haven’t been in a while. Chuga chuga wodolido!
Not being "that guy" that gets upset with Finn when he misses a band or anything, but if you're looking for another great newer deathcore band, Fit For an Autopsy is awesome! Worth checking out imo :)
I've shown Lorna Shore, Slaughter to Prevail, Brand of Sacrifice, etc.. to people who never heard of deathcore and they found it oddly entertaining. I think some part is just unique and extreme it is- almost like an experience hearing something like this for the first time.
Reaction videos are a substitute for when you would hear a new song or band and want to go show your friends. You get the satisfaction of seeing someone else experience something that you also enjoyed experiencing. In the digital age, we have less human contact and interaction so it's more rare to be able to share these experiences, so reaction videos are a digital approximation of that human connection that we all crave.
Which is a pretty sad state of affairs to be honest. I personally hate reaction videos because most of the time they are contrived and faked for views. Go out to concerts when you can though get that in person human interaction, make friends with folks in the scene. Usually if you go to enough concerts you will bump into the same core groups all the time and makes it fun.
@@corail53 well, the last two years haven't been very good for concerts plus this is a pretty obscure genre of music so it's generally hard to find very many people to enjoy the music with. I've watched a couple reaction videos of people hearing ABR for the first time and watching them have the same reaction that I had when I first heard them is kinda cathartic and fun. And I live in a little town in Montana so we don't get many good bands around here.
@@corail53 not everyone has the time or desire to go to shows constantly. I’m not 20 anymore and would rather spend time and money on other things. Channels like Nik’s are great for discovering new music and discussing it with others Don’t need an entire new group of friends just to discuss heavy music haha
We slip through one fact. Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal happened. I think Mick Gordon's ungodly masterpiece sound is a deciding factor here. It really wasn't deathcore, but it was a mix between core and prog with a shit lode of electronics, but it was quality wise above anything that bands done at the time. It's simply gained extreme popularity just by song quality, and paff. Majority of people capable enjoying metal if it's done well. Or if it's high enough quality I should say. And what's similar with those now popular deathcore bands? They both are next level mixed, mastered and crafted. No time before could we enjoy core so high quality. Other than that is Mick's work with heavy electronics, so it was clear that you can freely experiment with classic sounds, let that be more electronics (seriously Brand of Sacrifice's new single Lifeblood basically a Doom song with growls), more orchestral like Lorna Shore, or just be more technical like Slaughter.
I could not agree with this statement more. I said almost this exact thing a little while ago when I heard some music that I thought was inspired by the doom eternal soundtrack. I loved watching my boyfriend play that game and the soundtrack made it even more enjoyable.
@@roxycocksey glad that I'm not the one noticing it! Hell, Mick's work inspired Bring Me to make a heavier album while not even close to deathcore, but significantly heavier than their previous albums. Gordon even mixed the songs for that, so yeah. The influence is unquestionable.
Doom has really mixed with metal really well, overall. Some of the imagery in the classic doom games was inspired by old iron maiden album covers, and doom E1M1’s note progression is very similar to that of some other songs at that time, particularly no remorse by Metallica. I can absolutely agree that the modern doom games have inspired a lot of deathcore bands, both with the production and some of the electronic sounds themselves. 2016 was a huge year for deathcore overall, and the first doom game in almost 13 years was released as well. Mick Gordon is an absolutely phenomenal and talented musician, there’s simply no denying it. I have come to accept Bethesda kicking him, and like Andrew Hulshult’s work with David Levy, but something about Mick Gordon’s songwriting is just so much more memorable. He’s done a myriad of other works before, but doom in particular is the most metal he has gotten. Also, I’m pretty sure some deathcore vocalists actually attended the doom eternal choir, which is part of the game’s soundtrack. I think that was a major influence too, as even Alex Terrible (guy at the beginning of the video) was aware of it and even tried joining it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t part of the OST.
Also, the doom soundtrack wasn’t even supposed to have guitars originally. Glad that didn’t happen, lol. Otherwise we wouldn’t have had this masterpiece of a soundtrack.
Ya it’s like they all added a lil black metal. I know for sure that Ben (singer for Shadow of Intent) is a big Dimmu Borgir fan. He has taken a lot of influence from Shagrath the singer.
I'm loving this new generation of deathcore! I used to listen to a fair amount of deathcore back in my teens, but stopped paying attention over the last decade because it was becoming repetitive and simplistic, so I gravitated towards progressive, melodic, and technical death metal instead. But I'm glad it's made a comeback and sounding more refined than ever. 🤘🏼
I got to see Phil Bozeman of whitechapel on stage with Mitch Lucker during a suicide silence performance at warped tour in 2010. The crowd was already crazy, but when Phil walked out… all immortal hell broke loose. It was fucking amazing.
That shot at 10:03 sums up one of the biggest reasons why bands with charismatic/attractive frontmen can pull such huge numbers; just look at how many women there are in that crowd compared to any other type of metal gathering. If your music appeals to 10% of men but only 1% of women, that's only 5.5% of the population. Even if your genre is less mainstream, appealing to just 5% of men, but it appeals to just as many women, that's still 5% of the population.
I love what bands like Whitechapel & Enterprise Earth have been doing lately, incorporating prog, atmospheric soundscapes and clean vocals into their sound that really pushes the boundaries of the genre: that’s the kind of stuff I like to see in Deathcore, both those bands are pretty popular too. I’m glad Deathcore is making a comeback
The new WhiteChapel is good as hell, I was surprised to see a acoustic song from then despite the whole album being an emotional ode to the singer’s mother
I really like contemporary deathcore outfits like Black Tongue and Mental Cruelty. They are pushing the genre boundary in a really nice way that has allowed me to give some of my metalhead friends an opportunity to try out deathcore.
Lorna Shore's next London, UK gig has been upgraded four times and it's gonna sell out again soon enough. Fit For An Autopsy also need to seriously be paid attention to. They are incredible musicians and some of the nicest and kindest guys I've ever met.
Now that mention it last time i saw Lorna shore was with fit for an autopsy. I remember shortly after that show when cj got canned being worried if they were gonna call it quits or not. Needless to say I’m stoked for them to be blowing up. But I agree fit for an autopsy should be bigger than they are. Will pretty much does production for every band ever and I really feel like they were the first band to really do deathcore with cleans in it.
I remember watching the anime for the first time and thinking it was a pretty mild fantasy, then they rescue that guy from the dungeon and he finds that egg and I was like....whu...what happened!?!? Not surprised its a big inspiration to extreme metal, Urotsukidoji had a similar effect back in 'day.
I never got into the OG death core. No shade, it just didn't do much for me. I didn't understand why the tru metal elite had such an issue with it tho. To me it seemed like the obvious evolution of what Suffocation had started. I really dig this new stuff though. They have songs, character, atmosphere, and those huge *clawed hands to the sky* moments of vast awesomeness. Like I've said before, (and will again no doubt) Will Ramos has some of the coolest vocals I've heard in extreme metal for a long time. I would argue that his vocals are memorable and hooky (along with the catchy music). Any way, I'm about to hit 40 so I'll stop enthusing about young peoples music and go complain about the price of bread or what ever people my age are supposed to do. 😅
I saw Lorna Shore at a 300 cap venue in Providence RI a few months back. A week after that show they announced they were opening for Bring Me The Horizon on they're UK/Europe tour. If that's not a blow up, I don't know what is. Side note, Lorna had to cut their set short because they set off the fire alarm. It was a memorable show
I was around back when deathcore was on its way up (I sang in a band called Suffokate), and it’s definitely in the best place it’s been in quite a while. Cool video!
As someone who has never been into deathcore, the past few years have been amazing for the genre. There are so many bands im into at the moment that i never would have liked a few years ago. Shadow of Intent, Whitechapel, Lorna Shore, Enterprise Earth, Humanities Last Breath, Fit for an Autopsy, and the list goes on...
I've been there. Early myspace deathcore was shunned by gatekeepers despite its heaviness and difficult vocal techniques (maybe bc of their looks, handsome ppl in sleeve tattoos), but now, it's respected, revamped, and reborn. Now it's a legit metal genre and deserves one of their seats. Anw, when you're gonna review the When We Were Young Fest, Finn?
@@lrballistics Tis a rite of passage: “come out with all of you limbs and the blood of another man”. Oh you did? Here’s your certification see you Monday
I've seen STP, Lorna Shore (with Tom), Shadow of Intent, Make Them Suffer, and a few others you named off, and the hype around them is very well deserved!! Haven't seen LS yet with Will, but hope to soon
Deathcore is back because they found something that worked. That atmospheric, orchestral sound works great with traditional band instruments. It just sounds really cool. You could tell falling in reverses new single was influenced from that. It was a nice change of pace from the heaviness arms race that was going on. Its probably got a couple years before it gets stale.
I think as a summary of what you said, new deathcore bands are being able to keep up with social media, being charismatic and shocking and i think that's because a lot of them are new blood and know their game. It's exhausting to say it over and over, but metal needs new blood. Just like greta van fleet or maneskin pushing old school hard rock onto a younger, social media driven audience.
I like the comparison between deathcore artists and athletes. The modern deathcore formula for success should be to have one incredibly sick part (usually a breakdown) for reaction channels to pick up, just like how high school athletes get recruiting attention from highlight reels online.
Love your take on the new Deathcore wave. I think bands like Enterprise Earth and Signs of the Swarm are also a big reason why this genre is going through a revival. Saw both last night. They are supporting Fit For An Autopsy's new cd tour and the room was PACKED with new and old fans. Really sick too see.
I love vocal coach and composer reactions because you get professional insight, not to mention the validation of seeing someone who knows their shit getting excited about music you love. And shoutout to my boy Alex Hefner for bringing that genuine, self-deprecating hypemaster flash energy without the clearly put-on feeling other react channels have.
Also, I think Shadow Of Intent isn’t going to have that break out moment, since they are heading down a death metal path and leaving death-core there aren’t those “oh shit” moments.
Ironic because out of all these new bands, SoI is by far my fave because they broke the mold. The black/death vibes are great, why I got into metal in the first place. All this new stuff is just too cheesy, they all sound the same... Extremely fast double kick, breakdowns and super lower tunings... Just doesnt do it for me unfortunately.
STP is probably the biggest deathcore band, they have crazy amount of average listeners and total views, across multiple platforms. EE, KoG, Evergloam, LMTF are heavily rotated for me right now outside of bands mentioned in this video and have put out banging new music since 2020. I personally like all aspects of metal music so long as the blend works, I love music that makes you think or has great audio engineering and can really come alive with high end planar headphones or speaker system. Audio imaging and instrument separation makes a HUGE difference for my enjoyment, the bass guitar chugging being very detailed is one of the first things I look for in a mix and any half decent planar headphone points out flaws in recordings.
I get so excited every time I hear you or anyone else with a substantial audience talking about Shadow of Intent. I've been a massive fan of theirs for years and seen them live 5 times, including their 2 very first live shows and it is just so awesome that they are getting lots of recognition now. Incredible band! Also shout out to Brand of Sacrifice from my neck of the woods (Toronto) who's music is all anime-inspired AND they have a black vocalist which you just love to see gain popularity. Both bands full of rad dudes.
I think part of why reaction channels are so popular is because they're the modern/Internet equivalent of showing your friend something you like or a cool thing that you found. It captures that same feeling.
Lorna Shore's big breakout was in 2020 with Immortal, not 2021. The views on UA-cam and streaming numbers support this. It set them up to sign to a big label and got them a ton of fans (myself included). It set them up for 2021.
@@mitchblythe7521 yeah I’m aware of it, but at least a little mention about that 2020 album would be a good addition and wouldn’t necessarily mean mentioning CJ, I’m aware CJ’s case is complicated
The electronic additions to deathcore, via bands like The Browning and We Butter the Bread With Butter, are also seemingly grabbing people's attention a bit more these days.
I use to get a kick out of the "real metal" metalheads would call me gay for listening to Deathcore back in the day. I would think to myself, dude this heavier than most of the "real metal" you listen to. Either way, I don't really care about subgenres of metal or if it's to scene-y. If I like it, I don't care what anyone thinks. I'll listen to Mayday Parade and then listen to Cannibal Corpse, and anything in between. I even listen to R&B and 50's music. Who cares if it's "real metal" or not. Only care if it sounds good to you or not
Yeah, the criticism from "true metalheads" was always ridiculous. Like, these dudes are still jamming to Judas Priest but they want to tell me Suicide Silence is "for pussies" or whatever? Come on
Another band that's on the rise from 2020-21 is Left to Suffer, their new EP was a masterclass, and "Anger" is up there for Deathcore tracks of the year. Edit; I just rewatched the video, and okay you did mention them. 🤘
I got into deathcore when it was in its decline. I found Impending Doom and After the Burial around 2017-2018 and have been listening to Deathcore ever since. Currently loving Brand of Sacrifice and Shadow of Intent. They are both incredible bands. They have literally 0 skips in their entire discography.
There’s an element of grandiosity and performance again. Adding orchestral, melodic bits, or black metal elements adds more depth to the music itself. Then vocalists trying new things adds that much more. Slaughter To Prevail have a different look and a different presentation - they put on a show. That’s something metal lost for awhile. Spectersoundstudios put it into perspective really well in his band photos video. Deathcore bands used to look AND sound over the top, even if it meant a goofier presentation. Then it just kinda turned into dudes standing in an abandoned building with their arms crossed while sounding largely identical to each other.
I was never really interested in deathcore until about a year ago, when I heard slaughter to prevail song demolisher, and I loved it. Now I listen to deathcore all the time, my favorites are lorna shore ( will Ramos), slaughter to prevail, left to suffer, white chapel.
I'm genuinely surprised bands like Venom Prison or Fuming Mouth haven't gotten as big within the Deathcore scene, especially after how big straightforward Death Metal bands like Sanguisugabogg and Frozen Soul have gotten over the course of the beginning of the decade. I'm sure they have an audience with OG Deathcore fans, but it kinda seems strange seeing Deathcore bands who take more of an OSDM sound not getting as popular as the bands mentioned in the title given the popularity of other bands of the same niche.
We need a metalcore is back video too with bring me the horizon and the devil wears Prada getting heavier again, spiritbox charting in the top 20 with a debut, ice nine kills going out with Metallica, and a ton of new blood coming up like landmvarks and tallah its going pretty strong !!
I'm 30 years old as of the date of this comment my birthday was in July so it's been a few months since I've been 30 years old but I don't think that makes much of a difference with what I'm about to say, I didn't really have that much of a musical upbringing my dad has pretty much just listened to the rock radio station his entire life I know he owns like a few Pink Floyd CDs particularly the album animals which I loved during late elementary Early Middle School and we would listen to together and then my mom is like the complete opposite side of the spectrum she would always have the local rap station on which is what introduced me to Eminem, growing up my first heavier Rock style album I obtained through my uncle working at a local ABC Warehouse for a day, showing up to work tripping on a bottle of Robitussin pretty much working for 30 minutes then going into the break room and raiding the lockers where he stole a CD book which is where most people kept their CDs in the late 90s early 2000s, he's like 6 years older than me I'm pretty sure it was his first job at age of 18 so I was like 12 years old he ended up giving me a staticX CD and a Korn CD from the CD booklet but the first CD he gave me that I listened to and was obsessed with was Disturbed down with The sickness and I remember being in sixth grade I would listen to that in my CD player everyday waiting on the little two person bench in front of the school and one day this kind of jock dude walked up and asked what I was listening to and I said Disturbed down with The sickness and he literally just walked away 😂 , he didn't know what the hell I was talking about but that entire album was so amazing I know this is a death metal video and I'm getting to that so just bear with me, in between Static-X, Korn and Disturbed my uncle also introduced me to insane clown posse mainly the original joker card CDs which admittedly I still enjoy very much I thought they were pretty funny and unique and definitely not a juggalo but I can see why people would like that scene, fast forward to my early twenties I dropped out of school in eighth grade and I have my own apartment at 18 from selling weed mushrooms and LSD, this is about the same time I start getting into bands like Chelsea grin, suicide silence, preschool tea party massacre, etc etc bring me The horizon just released their first album which was what I would consider death core, I ended up meeting this dude I became really good friends with and we hung out for about 6 or 7 years, back in those times I was a real people person being a drug dealer, both me and him ended up going to jail / prison at the same time he went to prison I just went to jail, I obviously got out before him since I was only in jail but I ended up completely changing my life around pretty much becoming straight edge while I was on probation at least lol started working a legitimate job for the first time and about a year in this guy gets out of prison and I tell him that I've been working a legit job and have my own place and kind of sympathize with him cuz I just went through the same thing as him for the most part and I probably helped him get in trouble like he did in some way shape or form by supplying him with things that got him high and made him do stupid stuff long story short he was high on Robitussin because he was flat broke and didn't have any dealer friends and was homeless so he broke into a store and messed around with the safe so they charged him with breaking and entering and trying to crack a safe which I guess is a big deal here even though he was just a goofball tripping out on cough syrup looking for a warm place to stay for the night, anyway like I said this dude is probably at least 5 years older than me but when I offered him a place to live and got him a job with me because he was jobless homeless living at the rescue mission we would ride around and I would put my CDs in with bands like system of a down Disturbed Slayer mudvayne Slipknot he would run his mouth even though he was like 5 years older than me and he is just like so into these late 2000 deathcore bands like blessthefall not even the good ones really like he liked suicide silence Chelsea's grin but he was more evolving into the later era at this point and I'm just thinking to myself like what did you listen to growing up if you don't like the OGs? I've been listening to heavy band since before I had pubes, have your 5 years older than me you should definitely be able to relatlike I don't know if you just didn't listen to music growing up until a certain point or what but I listen to some pretty staple type brands in my opinion I know a lot of bands in the deathcore scene respect bands like corn Slipknot Slayer Static-X rage against the machine mudvayne this dude acted like they were completely cringe 😂 and at the age of 20 he was like 5 years older and would diss on me for wearing jeans that actually fit one time I asked whose jeans were these and he was like they must be you're the only person that wears baggy jeans here and they weren't even baggy they were just regular style jeans he was just dissing me because I didn't wear skinny jeans in my early twenties, I wore tripp pants in my early teens and listened to good music 💯
Deathcore has simply reached its peak as a genre. When it first emerged, I wasn’t a huge fan but a lot of these newer bands are pretty decent. They’ve brought in more extreme metal and black metal influences, which appeals to me. The musicianship and extremety has increased significantly in the genre.
Maybe you have a very narrow view of black metal but I’m talking about bands like emperor who, compositionally speaking, play and write circles around most deathcore bands.
I actually watch a lot of these reaction channels. I am proud to say you showed clips or I saw thumbnails for almost all of my favorites. Charismatic Voice, Julia Nilon, 2 Rockin' Grannies, Alex Hefner, Too LIT Mafia, Metal BIRB, etc.
Lorna Shore definitely pulled me into death core. The original wave of death core bands is around the time I stopped listening to heavier stuff but recently, Lorna has been a catalyst to pull me back into the more extreme side of music and it mostly has to do with Will Ramos, as you said.
Was on the gig of slaughter to prevail. One of the craziest mosh pits, heaviest music and coolest show i ever was. That was quite a day to be Russian 🤣
As far as reaction channels that react to the stuff that are really good I would recommend Cardavox Academy. He actually does in-depth vocal analysis and even re-creates the sounds the vocalist is making. Not just standard reactions.
I think you could mention Within Destruction with their last album Yokai. Before this album they were a slam band but their new music has some interesting trap, rap and core influences which makes it a really modern production.
honestly love that you brought up the reaction channels, as a huge metal fan I was getting somewhat bored with the genre a few years ago but reaction channels introduced me to some of my favorite bands now. Definitely agree most are trash though XD
we're only a few weeks into the year and deathcore already dominating. Shadow Of Intent, Fit For An Autopsy, Enterprise Earth, Worm Shepherd albums were all solid, plus we still got a potentially killer Lorna Shore album on the way. I'm not even a huge fan of deathcore but I'm pumped as hell lmao
“When will the deathcore bubble burst?” Has to be one of my favorite questions proposed by humanity. Seriously. Ask that question out loud, and objectively think of how awesome/hilarious it is 🤣🤝 Life’s good 🤙🏼
I think deathcore is gonna be popular again for a few years, then the hype will die down. It's like every other genre of music, like how butt rock is making a comeback (rather 2000's butt rock being seen as cool now) or how emo music is with the recent "definitely not a cash grab" concert being announced. But god damn are there some great deathcore bands releasing music. OGs like Whitechapel releasing, still great music. New bands like Brand of Sacrifice busting out onto the scene, and all the other great bands like Shadow of Intent, Lorna Shore, Slaughter to Prevail, Darko US, Signs of the Swarm, Paleface - so many different bands with different takes of the style.
I live in the same city where the Slaughter To Prevail vocalist was born and continues to live, and I gotta say man, as a compatriot, I feels hell of a proud for them. ♡
Have you been fucking with this new new desthcore shit over at Maggot Stomp? Incredibly raw, more on the death metal side of things. Snuffed on Sight, Bodybox, 200 Stab Wounds. It’s gaining a lot of momentum
Love some of the newer bands that are labeled “beatdown” bands, basically a mix of deathcore and hardcore IMO like you mentioned: Bodysnatcher, Traitors, Left to Suffer, Boundaries, Paleface
Bodysnatcher is pretty cool, my only complaint with them is their entire album "this heavy void" is all about how much he hates his father. And that would be fine if one or even two songs had that topic, but every. Single. Song. Lol
First of all, love your honesty and ability to admit when you’re wrong. But seeing so many homies repped like this in one of your videos gives me so many good feelers. Shoutout to my friends in BoS, Lorna, Worm Shepherd, and Matt fuckin mabie whos memes have literally helped keep the community together.
Alex Terrible really is the type of ‘metal influencer’ more bands need to get to attract a Gen Z audience. Like Finn has said, people (especially teens) are attracted to personalities, not brands.
Growing up with siblings that were teenagers in the early 2000s while I was growing up and an og English punk father I was always into punk and grunge and similar genres. As blood runs black got me into the really heavy which moved to cannibal corpse. But deathcore has always been the music I listened to the most. Hope it comes back like when I was a teenager
I love Deathcore, especially the chunk stuff.. lot's of fast undeniable fucking brutality with the heaviness of breakdowns that feel like a gigantic dead blow hammer obliterating the surface of your frontal lobe. 🔥🙆🏾♀️🔥
People talk as if Lorna Shore were not big at all. Funeral Moon was great record then the switch between cj and tom created such a hype and they released Immortal. That record is a masterpiece and everything about the record is amazing but people try not to talk about it as if it wasn't what put Lorna shore on the mainstream/popular band list. They like to "piss" on cj as if his work on the album wasn't good as if it wasn't "death portrait" & "Immortal" that made the band reach to a new level of fame. C'mon separate the art from the artist and talk about the last record. I love Will Ramos he's a phenomenal vocalist, i love his high screeching vocals but "to the hell fire" is not the only song that gave them fame.
I agree that they were already known *within the scene* and that Immortal was brilliant. But until they added Will and released the EP last year, they had never seen the type of success and popularity they're seeing now. The difference is now people outside the deathcore scene are taking notice, where for whatever reason, they just didn't with Immortal
@@LasTortugasAzules and why was the hype created? because of immortal and because cj was fired out of the blue. Now a band that was starting to get big all of a sudden their dope ass vocalist gets fired and people are wondering who is gonna fill his shoes. Is the new singer gonna be able to live up to the hype left by the last vocalist? so for a year and a half everyone was waiting for new music by the band and then to the hell fire happened and then they reach their next level of fame. But Immortal/CJ had created such a hype for lorna shore that to the hell fire reached that success. Immortal created a wave for the band that the EP could finally fulfill i guess if that makes sense.
@@mitchblythe7521 ok, if your point was that Immortal and the CJ drama set up the framework for the Nothingness EP to blow up, then I totally agree. At the end of the day I'm just glad to see those dudes having success, no matter the reason 🙂

I still listened to old favourites like Suicide Silence, Parkway, ABR, Emmure, Whitechapel, ASP, etc, and went to their shows when they came through my area. But I didn't keep up with new music coming out, as I got more into other genres more like indie rock, alternative, some underground hip-hop. I've shown Lorna Shore, Slaughter to Prevail, Brand of Sacrifice, etc.. to people who never heard of deathcore and they found it oddly entertaining. I think some part is just unique and extreme it is- almost like an experience hearing something like this for the first time.
I btought my normie party type of girl friend since I had an extra ticket and she absolutely loved it. She said it was the best concert she's been to
Reaction videos are a substitute for when you would hear a new song or band and want to go show your friends.
@@corail53 dude 90% aren’t curated for views, that’s just delusional. It only helps grow music as well so I don’t exactly understand the hate
Channels like Nik’s are great for discovering new music and discussing it with others
Don’t need an entire new group of friends just to discuss heavy music haha
Yeah I started making reactions because I have no one irl who listens to the music I do, so I wanted to share it with people online
The Elysian Grandeval Galèriarch also happened in 2016
I could not agree with this statement more.
I think it should be noted that the orchestral elements in the new wave of deathcore give a huge feeling of ambient grandness to the compositions.
Ya it’s like they all added a lil black metal. I know for sure that Ben (singer for Shadow of Intent) is a big Dimmu Borgir fan. He has taken a lot of influence from Shagrath the singer.
But it can be a little to inflationary over time...
It's exactly that "blackened" element I was missing in the first wave and what makes Lorna Shore so insanely good for my taste.
This is not a new idea though. Winds of Plague did it like 10 years ago, and they didn't even invent it
@@kylepetruzziello3321 winds of plague didn't do it as well though
I'm loving this new generation of deathcore! I used to listen to a fair amount of deathcore back in my teens, but stopped paying attention over the last decade because it was becoming repetitive and simplistic, so I gravitated towards progressive, melodic, and technical death metal instead. But I'm glad it's made a comeback and sounding more refined than ever. 🤘🏼
I agree 👍🏻 this new Deathcore has grabbed my attention. I feel like a lot of these new bands listened to a lot of aborted and Cattle decapitation.
I also think Will from LS is such a genuine guy. Watch interviews. Super great dude.
He also did the live sing through of Hellfire and damn
I genuinely thought Slaughter peaked with Demolisher, thinking they couldn't out-do the intensity..
But boy was I glad to be proven wrong repeatedly!
I got to see Phil Bozeman of whitechapel on stage with Mitch Lucker during a suicide silence performance at warped tour in 2010.
The crowd was already crazy, but when Phil walked out…
all immortal hell broke loose.
It was fucking amazing.
I love when you cover deathcore and slam. Thanks dude
I love deathcore bands that putting slam influence on their music
That shot at 10:03 sums up one of the biggest reasons why bands with charismatic/attractive frontmen can pull such huge numbers; just look at how many women there are in that crowd compared to any other type of metal gathering. If your music appeals to 10% of men but only 1% of women, that's only 5.5% of the population. Even if your genre is less mainstream, appealing to just 5% of men, but it appeals to just as many women, that's still 5% of the population.
I'm surprised Darko US didn't get a mention. They ended up being one of the highly reacted to death core bands
Heavy as fuck. Love Darko US
One of my favs next to Despised Icon 🤘🏼
I can’t enough of Darko. I’d think Finn would love them with all the Emmure influences
Darko is the best band rn IMO
Yeah but I think they're pretty bad, whereas Brand of sacrifice and Lorna shore are great
I love what bands like Whitechapel & Enterprise Earth have been doing lately, incorporating prog, atmospheric soundscapes and clean vocals into their sound that really pushes the boundaries of the genre: that’s the kind of stuff I like to see in Deathcore, both those bands are pretty popular too. I’m glad Deathcore is making a comeback
I can't do the new Whitechapel. To each their own I guess
The new WhiteChapel is good as hell, I was surprised to see a acoustic song from then despite the whole album being an emotional ode to the singer’s mother
@@chairmanofthebored6860 Me neither. I only liked about 4 or 5 songs from Kin
I'm glad deathcore is having a resurgence. It's always been my favorite genre since it became one.
Worm Shepherd, Signs Of The Swarm and Distant are great bands in the mix too
Worm shepherd yessss
@@arekparra9054 probably one of the most studio sounding live bands I’ve heard, they’re insane
Maaan, humanity’s last breath is an amazing band too
Worm Shepherd and Mental Cruelty have really impressed me with their most recent releases I am definitely riding that blackened hype wave
Shadow Of Intent are also fucking incredible, highly recommend their new album Elegy.
Enterprise Earth and Shadow of Intent too 😤
Crazy how berserk manages to influence so much outside of manga.
And still can't get a decent anime 😩
@@fullswingin big facts
Even infant annihilator’s third album had some berserk influence.
Cool video!
The skies were filled with fire was in my daily playlist in high school. Love suffokate my dude
To the Hellfire’s breakdown literally gives me chills every time I hear it
As someone who has never been into deathcore, the past few years have been amazing for the genre.

'Brand Of Sacrifice' hit so hard. 'Lifeblood' as an Album feels like a build up to the epic breakdown in the title track
I've seen STP, Lorna Shore (with Tom), Shadow of Intent, Make Them Suffer, and a few others you named off, and the hype around them is very well deserved!! Haven't seen LS yet with Will, but hope to soon
A lot of hip hop fans are getting into this style of music too.
You are absolutely correct. I have made both Hip Hop and Metal music for years and I think they go hand in hand.
3:04 I witnessed this rise on myspace. 🖤
Lorna Shore’s new EP got me interested in deathcore again. Will Ramos’s vocals are ELITE!
The new EE record is fucking amazing.
For any deathcore fans here, check out the new album "Oh What The Future Holds" by Fit For An Autopsy, it's really good 👌
It is! Been spinning it non stop!
Collateral Damage is my favourite track of that album. So heavy.
"clearly put on feeling other react channels have."

Btw I frickin love Alex
Also, I think Shadow Of Intent isn’t going to have that break out moment, since they are heading down a death metal path and leaving death-core there aren’t those “oh shit” moments.
Ironic because out of all these new bands, SoI is by far my fave because they broke the mold. The black/death vibes are great, why I got into metal in the first place. All this new stuff is just too cheesy, they all sound the same... Extremely fast double kick, breakdowns and super lower tunings... Just doesnt do it for me unfortunately.
Then they Released the Migrant and well it's full of those moments
Seeing Lorna shore with over 500k monthly listeners on Spotify blew my mind
Slaughter to prevail has nearly 600k right now. They’re killing it
Those 2 bands are leading the deathcore now days!!!
Fit For An Autopsy's new album is killer.
It's more like death metal than deathcore imo
@@mynameislove1704 It's definitely a softer band, still love their stuff though.

Lorna Shore's big breakout was in 2020 with Immortal, not 2021. The views on UA-cam and streaming numbers support this. It set them up to sign to a big label and got them a ton of fans (myself included). It set them up for 2021.
Exactly, the views when CJ was on Lorna don’t lie, it would be great if it was mentioned in this video
@@ComradePilas UA-camrs usually try to avoid talking about CJ so they don't receive the hate. They are trying to protect their business.

Does anybody know the band at 0:19?
I got into deathcore when it was in its decline. I found Impending Doom and After the Burial around 2017-2018 and have been listening to Deathcore ever since. Currently loving Brand of Sacrifice and Shadow of Intent. They are both incredible bands. They have literally 0 skips in their entire discography.
Shadow Of Intent is an AMAZING band everybody should take a listen
I agree. I think they are paving the way out of deathcore into a genre of their own
The gathering of all is one of my top blackened deathcore jams
There’s an element of grandiosity and performance again. Adding orchestral, melodic bits, or black metal elements adds more depth to the music itself. Then vocalists trying new things adds that much more. Slaughter To Prevail have a different look and a different presentation - they put on a show. That’s something metal lost for awhile. Spectersoundstudios put it into perspective really well in his band photos video. Deathcore bands used to look AND sound over the top, even if it meant a goofier presentation. Then it just kinda turned into dudes standing in an abandoned building with their arms crossed while sounding largely identical to each other.
I love this new wave of deathcore it's absolutely dirty and disgusting heavy!
“Hanging out with your friends at 2am at Dennys” I related too much with that.
Biggest disappointment of my life was a 2009 Job For a Cowboy show getting canceled
I was never really interested in deathcore until about a year ago, when I heard slaughter to prevail song demolisher, and I loved it. Now I listen to deathcore all the time, my favorites are lorna shore ( will Ramos), slaughter to prevail, left to suffer, white chapel.
First time I heard "Entombment of a Machine" by Job for a Cowboy, I was like, "This is allowed? It's so brutal..."

Really glad you mentioned Shadow of intent they are seriously under rated

Lorna Shore isn't my thing, but really happy to see Slaughter to Prevail on the way up, they've been great from the start.
Its an interesting fact that two of the new "big 4" are projects based on other IPs. BoS for Berserk and Shadow of Intent started out doing Halo music
So glad shadow of intent was included here. It’s hard to decide who is musically the best between them and Lorna shore.
Its those movie soundtrack level orchestra and choir parts that make Lorna and Shadow so perfect
The production for both bands is next level. First time I heard SOI's intro track on Reclaimer album I was hooked.

Have you been fucking with this new new desthcore shit over at Maggot Stomp? Incredibly raw, more on the death metal side of things. Snuffed on Sight, Bodybox, 200 Stab Wounds. It’s gaining a lot of momentum
Just found your channel (don't know how I am so late to the party but.....) definitely a fan!
Ok gonna say this right now both Will and Alex when it comes to vocals are almost equals and this new wave of deathcore bands could "revive" it
Couldn't tell if you knew that Cj the first Lorna Shore vocalist is also vocalist for Chelsea Grin now and has Darko ad well! 😌
I love Deathcore, especially the chunk stuff.. lot's of fast undeniable fucking brutality with the heaviness of breakdowns that feel like a gigantic dead blow hammer obliterating the surface of your frontal lobe. 🔥🙆🏾♀️🔥
Just noticed you have your backdrop back. Hell yea
@@LasTortugasAzules happy to hear you understand my point and same here i love to see hard working metal musicians reaching the level of success they actually deserve unlike these mainstream pop garbage you see on social media.
Immortal was pretty big but you gotta admit To The Hellfire took them to another level popularity wise.
What inspired your original Punk Rock MBA logo?
Man I got out of the metalcore/deathcore scene years ago when a lot of us did, maybe 2012 or so.
But fuck me I just found out about Lorna Shore and it's blown my mind. Time to dust off Carnifex moshpit gym shorts and see what the next generation has been putting out
