Live at redcliffe in 1990 to 93 working for torque ford toyota and vllage motors. Great place. Wish id got there when this clip was shot. Hi lorriane. And karen. Geoff steele. Nsw. 29/4/2023. Such memories. Woody piont. A great area relaxed saw it last year lots changed like me. Fish and chips. Still great. 😅
I remember going to Kippa Ring Kmart when it looked like that, it was the only shopping centre open on a Saturday afternoon, I’d buy records there as a teenager.
This is a fantastic video of life in Redcliffe in the not too distant past. I love it, could watch more of these videos, it’s happy and sad to see the changes, some good, some not so good. Thank you.
There wasn't much of an obesity problem back then. People looked a lot thinner than they seem to be these days. Marvellous footage, this is an important social document. Thanks for sharing.
I was going to make the exact same comment about the lack of obesity. No maccas back then; much less processed food in general. Much more physical activity, especially for kids, cartoons only arvos and saturday morning.
This is the kind of video that Millennials and Gen Z have absolutely no idea about, and need to see - the way Australia used to be, and not the absolute mess it is these days, and as such, they don't know how good Australia can be again.
As a young child probably very early 70s, my family often went to Redcliff, with its lovely beaches. Fond memories. I would take my son there too in the late 80s.
The parade video looks like its from the opening of the Houghton Highway bridge in December 1979. The original 1930's Hornibrook Bridge that ran alongside it was supposed to be upgraded but was closed permanently when the new bridge opened.
Whatever happened to marching carnivals. I remember covering huge carnivals all over the place in the 70's and early 80's. Thousands of gilrs competing but I have not heard of it since.

Do you have footage of the gateway bridge opening?. I remember being young child and threw a tantrum and poor mum had to carry two children under 5 up and back on it. I remember seeing us on the news. ;) good to see the old horniebrook. (Bad spell I know.) Thanks
Great to see Redcliffe how I used to remember it as a kid.

....and people, generally, were much much happier and positive...you can kinda feel it just from watching the video. Good times!

This is the opening of the new Hornibrook highway. I shouted mum a helicopter ride that day that she still talks about

I couldn't wait for dad to get to the old Hornibrook Highway for all the whoopedi doos.
I remember driving over that bridge as a kid and thinking the car was going to bounce right off the bridge into the water😂

Wish they'd show more of Woody Point side...where I use to stay at Grandma's and the woody point Jetty and the wrecks.
@The_Jaguar_ Knight We used to walk around from Scotts Point on our holidays in the late 50's and playing on and in the Gayundah every day

pre-release model? I have a 1981 XE Falcon, which weren't officially released for sale until 1982.
@@martinscrapp7166 actually, upon closer examination, it's 78-79 VB commodore, so you're off the hook. My mistake. Very similar tail lights.

I gather the first few minutes is the foreshore along Clontarf!
No it starts at Brighton near the Eventide nursing home. The other side of the bridge; then it goes over to the penninsula
Great footage. 60s and 70s muscle cars all over the place, awesome.
Not a fat body anywhere. Back when people had to be outside 🇦🇺
Back when crime was non existent.

Makes one think of communist parades. Who are they and what is the occasion?
Have you never seen American parades? Communist, really?
American marching girls and parades look communist do they?
I see skinny people.
