Gavin McLaurin When I say modern I'm referring to 1995+ era. PS: I actually find out that this was in the 2000's. I don't know why people call this a classic.
This song has helped me through the devorce of my parents. This was also very close to the time when my grandma died and a thought of a sentence I heard her say to my dad “you don’t live to get lived you got a life to live it.” And that sentence and this song helped me a lot, because it made me make the choice to choose for myself instead of the grief of someone else. I know this might seem like a very complex thought for an eleven year old but it worked for me. It also gave me the feeling that I wasn’t weird for doing what feld good at the moment, this being talking to my dead grandma about how lucky she was for not having to experience my parents devorce(she was very close to my mom). It also made me realize that you aren’t crazy, it's the world and that’s what you have to learn to cope with.
I love this song plus before my grandma passed away she use to always say matt live your life how you want to not how people want you to do because you only live once better live it how you want to live and to this day even though she passed on the 25th of February 2014 I still remind my self of that because she lived her life the way she wanted to and I am living my life how I want to

I just realize that when it sings "like frankie said, i did it in my way" it refers to Frank Sinatra and his song "My Way"
Yes, yes, yes. Finally someone with a brain.
Well done, 5 points for the correct answer.
The thing is the song my way was written by Paul Anka, and Paul Anka wrote this song so that's why he says ''frank said he did it MY WAY'' because he sang his song.
And the Tommy and Gina part refers to his own song “Living on a Prayer”

I can't believe this is an old song. It just... sounds so modern! These guys were definitely ahead of their time.

Modern is usually about sex or drugs though...

Lastrevio Oh, I see what you mean.
And I actually thought that this was made around 1885.
Gavin McLaurin WTF Rock music didn't even exist at the time I don't even think guitars existed...
Lastrevio Many Journey songs were made in the 1980s, such as Separate Ways.
