- First ever NYC area show of My Bloody Valentine on their first US tour, Maxwell's Hoboken, NJ. J Mascis was running the mixing desk that night so it was pretty fuckin' loud. All MBV photos by Pat Blashill, live shots from this Maxwell's show and other shots the days after the gig. Pat also has other great shots from around this period on his website www.patblashill.com including Butthole Surfers, Sonic Youth, Pixies etc.
Transferred from the master cassette. Make sure you check out the video decor shot at the 9:30 club in DC a few days later which is already up on youtube. Support MBV and buy their recordings, merch here www.mybloodyval... Decor just made the recording but does not own any of the copyright nor do we monetize it, just for your listening pleasure.

of course its j mascis on sound, sounds so damn good for an 89' recording
Proof or nah
Yeah I would have loved to hear this live, whatever mic is being used to record this is cutting the lows.
Colm is like friggen Keith Moon. Underrated drummer.
Agree. He's great here.
Colm = the one ring that binds and rules them all. Fucking superhuman musician.
Even to this day, and so many years older he hasn’t slowed down. Man truly is a beast.
I was at this show. Ten feet from the stage. I only knew a handful of songs at this point. Luckily, I was wearing earplugs. The moment I remember most was during the break in 'You made me realise'. I've never seen anything like that before. Colm was an animal on those drums, he kept going and going. I was blown away. Incredible show, so lucky to have been there.
I saw them when I was 16 at The Ritz (now Bowery Ballroom). On the bill that night: Pavement (Slanted & Enchanted), Superchunk (No Pocky for Kitty), and MBV (Loveless). Blew my teenage mind and eardrums! 90s were incredible!
🙌🙌🙌
Colm is fucking amazing here
The amount of hearing loss at that show must have been intense ...
Even for a small NYC type club, Maxwells was tiny. And with J doing the mixing, I can imagine it was an insane maelstrom of noise in there.
I'm super jealous :)
I had the incredible luck to be able to catch MBV opening up for Dinosaur, Jr. in Tallahassee, FL. 1990.....a place called The Moon. Yeah, that was lighting that struck only once for me. Seen a lot a shows...but none were as meaningful and important as that one. Thanks for posting this! \m/
luckyy i wouldn’t be born for another 16 years 😭😭
I saw MBV so many times during this period.
Up, down and around the UK.
This sound and these songs are still my favourite and bring back so many good memories.
Thanks for uploading
Which song was always a favorite to hear live during this era?
Tell us more
wowww im jealous!! thats so cool
I must have seen them play at least six times between 88 and 92. Hearing is still intact, amazingly.
Damn. Lose My Breath sounds amazing. Just need to hear a live version of Off Your Face and I’ll be a happy old man.
Fuck imagine how great that'd be
So great you can really hear the vocals
Great upload. One of the rare live recordings of them playing Sunny Sundae Smile/TNRBMBV stuff on UA-cam
I need Ecstasy era live recording so bad.
Best MBV show upload since that one from France! Also my favorite era of theirs
I saw them the following week, on my 19th birthday, at St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit. Thanks for posting!
Wow! Amazing addition to UA-cam, the internet, and the world.
Amazing, huge influence
Incredible. Wish there was video lurking aroud somewhere.
what a time to be alive ;D
best mbv performance by far

What a great looking band, even Kevin looks attractive here. Buit Bilinda and Colm are two gorgeous people - and as for the sound, there goes my tinnitus.
Looked...
@@sandratheworst9868 Hah! True. Poor Kevin, Bilinda still looked wonderful in 08 though. Christ, they're both nearly 60...
@@roberth1322 so sad I didn’t witness their early concerts in 80s , when they were young. Their music is the embodiment of youth..
Even Kevin?! Kevin was gorgeous too, even as an old man he looks good huh maybe his hair is too weird for some ppl but young kevin was one handsome elf boy.
@@MegaThefuture I've left out Debbie, she was really pretty back in the day. I always used to think she was Irish. Great looking, and sounding, band.
Could you share a download link please
it is up on dimeadozen now
I should have been at this show.
