if someone doesnt understand why he deleted his elephants on that frost is because he was population blocked and those units were doing nothing a straight minute due to the frost.
he had the economy and thoth's upgrade where they are trained almost instanly so in order to not lose the momentum he deleted those units and get them back to the fight right away!

the ulfsark upgrades from Bragi and Tyr are a way to counter elephants plus the constant Fimbulwinter GP spam.
And even then, a switch to full upgraded axemen wouldn't be too shabby against ulfsark on steroids.

Why not upgrade Burning oil
the melee attack is weaker than the pierce attack. it also has a preference for closer units, so you would usually get the melee attack. this means your overall dps from the tower usually goes down when you get that upgrade 😬😬
