Did my bi-annual re-watch of this movie last night (hence my searching for new content about it on UA-cam!), and those 6 frames you pointed out really stood out to me this time. Peter makes for such a fantastic protagonist, the fact that he can feel that pain and bounce back so quickly makes for really captivating development, seeing how far he's come is both compelling but also slightly tragic (as growing up is). Great video, always a treat to hear from others who grew up seeing this underappreciated story. The representation angle does age it, but there's real magic there.
Interesting note. Flight of Dragons was a real book written by Peter Dickinson even if the story in the movie actually follows more closely to The Dragon and the George. I really loved this movie by the way.
Oh yeah, the story behind this movie is really fascinating itself! Several versions of this script touched on the "inspired by" aspects, but it's stuff I cut to stay focused on the film itself. I'd really recommend The School of Movies podcast on this film, since they take a deeper dive into all that: schoolofmoviesarchive.podbean.com/e/flight-of-dragons/

I'm sure I saw this movie once! That ending is so familiar. Nice vid!
