Thanks for the update, Virginia. Your farm is always shipshape. The three ladies recently placed on hiatus look to be udderly content. Sorry just gotta be punny sometimes. Stay warm and well guys.
Dry off is exciting time when you know there will be beautiful calves arriving in the spring to start the cycle again, not to mention a well earned rest from milking chores! 🥛🧀 great video-always learn something - Have a blessed day🌹
Thanks for another great video! Absolutely love you kitchen, along with the heartsone stove! BTW I have 2 of the same breed dogs, hello from NE rural Ohio
I hope I can manage 1 or 2 cows with the success yall have there!! Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. So informative!! I'm new to cheesemaking (less than 2 years) but I find it therapeutic 😌
Interesting for sure, but in my lifetime i have heard so many storys about this subject, i quess you have to find what Works and fits you and thats not always easy anyways thanks for the video ,greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
What that old book said about cows being with people who like them is very true. The cows that get mastitis always tend to be the PITA hard to work with (through no fault of their own) that get less attention/care. Self perpetuating cycle unless you take the time to treat and heal them properly.
Have a great day
Thanks! You too!
I would imagine that the majority of people who buy milk never think, possibly, that there is anything more to it than milking cows.
I imagine you’re right!
Aways good to hear from you. Thanks for the good information 👍 l found it interesting

Great video Y'all are doing a great job
Thank you!
Doing a great job Virginia! Is Stacy still at school?
Thanks! Yes, school goes through the end of March.
I have a book from the 1950s called the Stockmans Handbook, it was my Dad's. Lots of good stuff in it. Stay safe out there.
It’s gone through many editions, and is still available today, but I’d probably put more “stock” in the older ones… pun intended!
Dr.Paul is a neighbor of ours!!!
Awesome! We ran into him at the last MOSES Conference!
🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜🚜
Great video you did a great job 😊
Nice video
Thank you!
You guys sure knows your cows!! Are yall still having a brutal winter like us way down here in south Texas? God Bless!!
It’s more like a normal winter… just started a bit earlier then we’re used to.
What that old book said about cows being with people who like them is very true. The cows that get mastitis always tend to be the PITA hard to work with (through no fault of their own) that get less attention/care. Self perpetuating cycle unless you take the time to treat and heal them properly.
We work for the cows… That’s why they’re “bossies”!
Nice vid! Hey what brand of wood heat stove is that? How do you like it? I miss wood heat!
It’s a Hearthstone soap stone stove. We really like it!
Enjoy the downtime from milking. Is Stacy going to get the pipeline finished before calves are born? I know he was looking for a part.
That’s the plan!
Virginia do you ever treat directly into the udder as some dairy farmers do?
One I watched recently injected the udders for dry off.
We’ve never injected anything into an udder. Just doesn’t seem right to us.
