- Bob Marley & the Wailers record their last rehearsal session at Criteria Studios in Miami, FL before heading north to Boston for the U.S. leg of the Uprising tour. This tour was cut short due to Bob’s illness and would include Bob’s last performance at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, PA on September 23rd, 1980.

To think that all these players must have known how sick Bob was - how could they not have known? Bob knew this might have been his last few weeks, months on this earth and yet the man goes on...hard to imagine that kind of dedication to the music, the message, the WORK.
Yes my Bro.! Those are my thoughts as well. Of course sometimes I feel sad to know Bob was in pain...but the fulfillment he must have felt from reaching and nourishing so many captive minds - must have been the joy that kept him pushing along. The thing I try to take away from studying Bob is the commitment and sacrifice...to something greater than one's self, one's own security.

Once you balance the spiritual and physical side of music, you become unstoppable.
stumbling across this in the middle of the night and despite the bad sound, or maybe even BECAUSE OF IT, its so satisfying for my brain to listen to it.
I saw Bob live a couple of years before this was made., I still feel like I was blessed for the experience.

Bob marley and the wailers are top #5 of the greatest artist of all time if not #1. That man is incredible till this day and will continue for many generations. The relevance of his music transcends way beyond.
no other Jamaican group has ever come to this grooving reggae... The Wailers under Marley was something else

This is really something special...... sound quality isn't good, but man, it's a rare glimpse at magic happening live.
There are slightly better versions on UA-cam but not by much. I've been listening and showing people these sessions since 09'.
Haha sorry there are few artists in my lifetime that get this microscope treatment. It's certainly a vibe with these sessions. Intimate goes without saying. Any musician can appreciate what is going on here fir sure

It's a real pity about the sound quality but that's what happens to VHS tapes over time...they warp...if they were going through the soundboard... different story...still as it is... it's an extremely important documented snapshot of Bob just before his illness took hold...he kept it to himself until it became blatantly obvious... but what I really want to emphasize is...he was only 36 years old and he lived more lives in that short period than most people in their lifetime... his body ceased to be but his voice liveth forever...

I had the privilegium to have a personal meeting with Bob during his Horten tour 1978. Hes been my mentor ever since and still his music grows all over the world. From East to West, from South to North

All he had was everything we're still listening to and appreciating in relevance of the timeless message today and forever more 10 years from now their message will still be relevant.
In all honesty who can Say that today or even people from decades ago.
I think He, by extension They all knew and realized what they were immortalizing in purpose of their Dedication.
And that's where the true power of music resides not in the industry but in its full potential to Convey something Timeless.
Every serious musician aspires to do that and the only way to do it is not to compromise in the false promises of the Industry.

This is an amazing session. Yes, the video and audio were not great but what a jewel! This is a diamond in the rough that should be cleaned up and digitized. It’s strange and maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me but I don’t think that I saw Ashton Family Man Barrett playing bass in this rehearsal session . Thanks for showing this.
