That’s a brilliant shed, calves will do well in there with the high roof which looks like it will create good air flow. You’ve giving myself good ideas 💡 👍
An idea for your gates dropping like that is to add some galv steel strapping like the builders used for stiffening across the roof structure if applied diagonally to the gate it would stiffen those too.
I think you would keep your feeders much cleaner if you continue to feed on the gate instead of the pulley system. I would be concerned if you have an outbreak of something, cleaning those pulley feeders would be difficult. Your calves look beautiful, and your shed is a fantastic addition.
I looked up the word chucked, which you use quite regularly. Webster dictionary Toss, throw and discard. Obviously Webster is found wanting. They are yet to discover other meanings. Example. I chucked the off cut of ply on the wall. Means utilizing the off cut of ply, to construct a rail to support the calf feeder.
Reuse or recycling at its best Anfrew! So happy to see your new building working for you and making things easier with the calves. Lots of tails wagging and that means happy calves.
Absolutely love seeing all the calves just wondering though if maybe you have some rubber matting you can put on the trailer floor to stop the calves slipping when being moved , the feeders are great but as the calves grow might be too low trial and error sweetie you’ll get it sorted hope they family is all good x
Don’t use the trailer much to move them but a rubber floor would be idea for when we do. It’s good being low, simulates the udder and it’s good for the calf 👍
Had a through about your shed you need two small gates in your calf shed so you don't have to climb over the gate to.get.into.the pens if drive our Post in the middle in the side bye you can hang a small gate of each Post to make it walkthrough
I had to laugh. It seems that a common thing is for livestock growers to need "wire" to make things work. LOL Actually your fancy, we use baler twine. You just needed to replace it every now and then when it was sisal twine. Heck we thought we had hit the "big" time when we switched to poly twine. LOL
how come there not with moms ive seen farmers separating babies from mom as soon as their born some of them do this some dont why do they do this doesnt it upset the mom
Sometimes mum doesn’t have the best quality milk that the calf needs and can’t give it enough either so when we take them off we can control that to give the calf the best start to life
cool shed the locked off end will make a good workshop or storage area nice healthy looking calves

Yep good air flow but might let a bit of rain in if it’s driving in, catch22 🤷
Haha that’s cool then 👌
The grey round 20 teat milkbar feeders would be good in your shed. We use them and they are great.
Great job Andrew for handy money 👍👍
So cute n beautiful calves God's creation is truely beautiful God bless you n the calves 💕💕💕💕💕
Looks great mate
Hello Andrew looks great have a good day.

That’s true, probably easier to get different gates but I’ll see how I go 😅

HI from Mesa AZ
Hi Andrew Is it possible for you to give information about jersey daily milk yield? I think I'll start with the jersey
That’s bit of a hard question as it changes through out the season and also very variable as to how much your feeding them as well sorry
first one to say today love your videos keep it up have a great week
Good job
A man after my own heart round here every body seems to want to get into debt one guy said he’s quite confident he’ll get it paid off in 3 generations
😅 that’s a few years then!
Great vid mate, new shed looking good. No matter how many you have, you'll always want another one haha.
That’s 💯 correct! You can always fill it with something 😂
Parabéns, os bezerros são muito bonitos, e a estrutura para eles ficou excelente, grande abraço do 🇧🇷
Nice 🐓🐓🐓🐓
Awesome shed. Looking at building a similar shed. What's the depth ?
It’s 9m which is alright but if you got the option go 10m, I reckon 1 more meter wouldn’t hurt 👍

Yep would be handy but if I had a motorised milk pump I could just stand in the pens and fill the feeders 👍
You just need to redrill onto the other side of the poles so you gates willatch
Awesome shed mate very jealous haha
Where can I buy such a calf feeder?
Farmsouce
Hey Andrew how far is the new calf shed from the cowshed? Will you still use the old cowshed/ calf shed for the new borns ?
It’s probably about 800m down the road so a fair way, yeah I’ll use the old cowshed for bobbies
How much damage did the flooding do to your farm?
Most of the farm is on the high ground with only a few low flooded paddocks. The water has drained away now with the fine weather we have had.
Hey mate the shed looks awesome and do you still use or have the quad bike last time I saw it was in the shed where the Ute was stolen
Hi Sam.
Yes the TRX 2×4 300 is still in our possession. It was an old bike 20 years ago. Same motor second frame.
Who makes that calf trailer?
Gibbons, made In morrinsville
Cheers
Nah just get rid of those mesh gates, you've got a nice new shed just get proper good gates for it
money dosent grow on trees

Haha yeah baking twines used here pretty intensively to! Fixes most problems 😂
Do the calves not stay with their mothers in the farm ? Do they not need the cow milk ? I heard that cows cry when their babies are lost
No, they still get milk
Hello,am looking for a job ,Is it possible to give me one
Sorry no
it's raid on the world the same. the farmer's last advice is wire. if he is not at hand, he takes a rope.
Baking twine works a treat 👌
