I love Portrait Artist of the Year so much for so many reasons. Incredible painters doing great and sophisticated work and the dialog and setup is outstanding, thanks!!
If anyone from this tv show is reading this, please put the name of the artist on the screen when you're introducing them. I would love to follow some artists after the show but can't get the spelling of some names. Thank you!
@AFAskygoddess Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip sold off Tai's portrait of them for a relatively low price soon after he finished it. I guess they didn't like it.
Finding different judges would add something new to this series: they are too predictable and through their exchanges with the artists subtly controlling in what they expect the end results to be.
As an artist, I can't imagine how the artists are able to stop and chat while they're working. I could never do that. It breaks concentration. It seems like the commentators shouldn't be allowed to interrupt the artists. The director/producers of this show don't understand the deep level of concentration required to do a good painting, expecially under these circumstances.
@TheJoan48 The producers/ judges don't care that the interruptions break the artist's concentration. In fact, the show treats the artists like children.
@JustisLeague The truth is that the artists are nowhere near close enough to the sitters to see facial details clearly. Only artists who still have 20/20 can do so. Then there's the 4hr time limit, and some sitters are fidgety.
@Watkinsstudio , exactly! I'm a portrait painter who is blind as a bat past three feet without my glasses. But I see exceptionally well close up only if I remove my glasses. I refuse to wear bifocals. I'd have a horrible time trying to paint someone far away.
These Backgrounds are just awful to work with! What are they thinking? And afterward they talk sense into it, which frankly isn't there alt ALL! And not just in this Episode!🙄🙄🙄
When I see an exceptional bit of painting, I tear up! Kofie’s painting was just such a painting! Wow!
I adore Kofi's art and the man himself. ❤
Katie Piper is so brave with everything she's been through. Strong lady!!
Congratulations to the winner, Kofies painting is really marvellous and I liked how he interacted with the person sitting. Well done😊
Kofi did an outstanding 👏 portrait! So much talent was present this time. Bravo to all!
Started crying when Robert saw his paintings and what the painters saw in him. That’s what art does-affects you so much.

I friggen love this show!

@PaulaJoW You think the producers care to promote the artists by putting their names on screen? They didn't forget, they just don't care.
I pause and use closed captioning, it usually helps me find them!
You can google Sky Artist Year episode list, there the names are listed.
I have asked repeatedly for the channel to put the year and episode in the title or sub title but it just happens sometimes and sometimes not.
@@diddums86Thank you for the tip!
All of these are so incredible
I love Chris's work ... there is serious talent out there this time.
Back in the day, portraits portrayed.
Good old days, you know 😂
They finally chose the right winner.
agreed. that self potrait was a masterpiece
Great painting Kofi!
I hate that Chris got left out looking in yet again. On the other hand, Kofi did amazing. Congrats 🎉
Really appreciate these episodes but in the future would it be possible to release them in the order of episode number? Thank you!
Please include season and episode in the tittle.
mabe it is the letters and numbers in the caption (S07 E05)? maybe season and episode??? not clear, though
Ty😊
Tai calls this portrait 26:59 "too steeped in art history". He has the nerve, since he himself makes imitations of Lucian Freud's portrait style.
I don't care for Tai's art at all. It's very simplistic.

@@Watkinsstudio , that's funny!
It was the one painting I was looking forward to but I feel like he ended up playing with it too much and lost that essence.
Whats the app that the IT guy uses for grayscale?
Really enjoy like everything about Sam! Isnt he fresh?? Wonder how it’ll turn out.

I agree.
My god the whining about the judges is lame.
I love the judges..nice balance of arty and humour
The judges ARE the show
Love this show. I really admire artists.😊

And I never feel it adds insight into the artist’s mind.

👍👏👏👏👏👏
My eyes can’t accept the fact that even if the subject is right in front of you, I am befuddled with the aid of a photo of the subject on an iPad.

I don’t understand why the backgrounds are not sitter specific. Even if they are themed.
Nick G is disturb by is libido, I can see this. Print is about freedom
Where Joan?
She retired at age 91- she is battling cancer.
Prayers for Joan
