SIGHT CASTING GIANT BLUEFISH AND TROUT BEHIND ASSATEAGUE

- This was a treat! Not to often we get to sight cast on a shallow flat, specially here on the eastern shore! We were not expecting this at all, we set out in search of maybe some schoolie striper or a speckled trout, and stumbled across a shallow grassy flat we had never fished before! We saw some signs of life and went over to check it out and sure enough there was fish all over! We saw striper, blues, and trout for sure, and we think even red drum, but can't confirm. Then we came back for the evening tide and hit the same flat and caught more! All around an epic day for the crew, it's not often we get excited over bluefish, if anything were usually annoyed by them LOL but this was an exception for sure!! Was a special treat getting to have my 5 year old son with me for the evening trip, that 36" Blue is his PB for sure and tied my personal best as well! Def a day we all will remember!! Also for anyone curious we were using 2500-3500 size reels and 6'6-7'0 medium rods, basically light tackle, and our favorite thing to use, a good ole jig head and paddle tail!

You'd be surprised what you can catch on the flats there all summer despite water temps.... Those big blues have been on the flats since April. Throw top water for real fun!
I wanted to throw topwater so bad! only thing I had was a spook and it was tough to work in the high winds, but well def be keeping an eye on this flat!

For a split second when we first saw them in the water even I thought "that could be a small tarpon!" hahaha nope just a giant bluefish
