Yeah I got the 759.00 dollar OEM from ECStuning. The left inner light sat flush no problem left outer slightly noticeably only if you run your hand and it barely scraps your hand. The right inner was difficult to get it flush ...but the right outer....muah spectacular no fuss
Got Ed's for pretty cheap used, and i must say they look pretty good. Maybe not as good as Hella's but i think they do the trick for the money. but fitment and install is pretty easy, took me less than 30 minutes all round, with some help from this vid ;) Cheers!

He also made them flash whenever stepping on the brake pedal which I’m not quite sure how he was able to as far as I know you can only activate the emergency flash which is when you hard press the brake. Anyways I can’t for the life of me get the “rare brake light” warning off my dash I’ve tried every code I could find but most of them seem to just cause other codes. Currently my Byte 18 is set to Hex 20. And only me left and right brake light have a warning on the dash.
I still have so many questions about the coding and there's no good videos out there.. like what software do I need to download? Where do I download it from? Do I have to use a laptop or can I use desktop? If you're gonna do a video on the coding then you should cover the whole process.

Mine came with big boxes to bypass the light out codes and I can't get the covers back on for the tailgate lights. With the vagcom can you bypass that box so it isn't needed?

There is no error anymore but i have one problem: DRLs are not working but when i switch on my short lights, one of DRLs is working and another don't. I bought OEM led tails and someone tried to code them for me and changed byte 18 to rest of world to get rid of my bulb out error. Now my drivers side reverse light is always on no matter what gear I'm in, and my passenger side daytime running light isn't on anymore. Any idea what he did and how I can fix it? Does this gti in this video have led daytime running lights? If so it sounds like I need to change byte 18 to 21?
+Chris Peters every car needs a different code to get it working. some are 18, some 21, some 1F, etc. you need to check all the common codes and try each one.

I'm thinking that since my car is now coded as Rest of World instead of North American region, my control module thinks I have a euro headlight switch installed which I don't and that's why my daytime running light on passenger side isn't working and one of my reverse lights is acting as a rear fog. Don't you cross pins from one of the drl's and add a jumper wire when you install a euro switch? Maybe the lights behave this way if it's coded for a euro switch but there isn't one present.

John, did you ever figure it out? I think because it's changed to RoW(rest of world) and not NAR(north america) is what causes the rear fog light out error.. because europe has a rear fog on the driver side but instead of the reverse light... if you put it in reverse you'd probably notice your drivers side reverse isnt on when your car is coded for RoW.

Nick Young there isnt much adjustment to make, they are only help in with the one white screw. (the outers). You just push it a hair whereever you need it and hope it stays as you tighten the screw. Same with the inners, you push them in the right direction to fill any spaces that are too wide, then tighten down the screws.
Lorenz Velasco Some dealerships will code, but some don't want to touch it. You are better off finding an enthusiast with a vagcom cable, or just buy one yourself brand new. The cheapest one is $250. A dealer visit would probably cost you $120 anyway, so you might as well just buy a cable you can use forever. Watch my "vagcom showcase" video for all the stuff it can do.

I got some brand new inner led ones for $30. I'm just trying to find some outer ones now. But I don't think that $650 plus is reasonable. Maybe the quality won't be as great.
And after you install your tailligts you go to wash the car to find out if there is any water leaking into the trunk... But i am sure you already done this!

The outside light on both sides looks to have more gap (on top) than the inside lights. I have the oem ones as well and don't have that gap. Hmmmm..

naw. i had 2 sets. the original best BKS tuning did not have any plastic. they were wrapped in soft foam cloth.

depends what country you are in. you can only swap tails if the generation is the same for both cars. or they wont fit.

I have 2013 Autobhan and I tried 04 and after messing with the wire it turned on! But for some reason the right DRL stopped working again :(
