Hinson is seriously in my opinion the best clutch systems around. My 2007 crf 250 r built by procircuit has the full hinson setup and its amazing still to this day. Soon as you let out that clutch your digging deep and ripping up the dirt. If i ever get a new bike the first main things im buying is and exhaust, hinson clutch, and probably oversized disk brakes. stockers are okay but after i experience my oversized ones i wouldn't go back.
engagement is solid and aggressive but still can take off like a stock clutch. The lever is more firm than a stock one thats forsure. i've let friends try my bike out and they all dont like the clutch lever stiffness but they love how solid the drivetrain feels. its a trade off i guess, the stiff clutch lever is a bit challenging but getting every bit of power down to that back wheel. The stock clutch isn't as robust as a hinson. The disks material is not as grabby so you get some slip over time. where as hinson seems to not have that problem over time. it still feels great after being in the bike for the 8 years its been in it.
Kevin Vienneau. I belive that the little ball bearig is supposed to fit under the "Top hat", at least thats where ive located it on an older honda bike.. Greetings!
+Jonathan Alvey Well, Im from Sweden so some words just doesn't get right ;) On my Cr500 i actually found no Bearing at all, it had been replaced whit an shaved down Screw bit by some previous owner..
I bought a 13 CRF450R that came with a Hinson clutch. It is very difficult to engage. There is no way I could use just one or two fingers because it is so hard. What is the solution? I wish it were softer. Replace the springs? Go back to stock?
Anyone try this, I removed it, and what looked like a bearing ball fell out...I don't see where it is missing. Any ideas? happened when I removed the pressure plate.
+Oliver Heasley Apparently you don't know the difference between the flywheel and the clutch Basket ? ! AND at 4:53 he tells you to Throw the clutch basket In The "Trash Can"!
I have a 2008 trx450er and I recently broke a bolt in my inner clutch hub I bought a new one and i found this video very helpful thank you

How is the engagement? Is it tough to pull the clutch lever? What makes a Hinson better than stock?

+Nexite "Top Hat" or as the mechanic world would call it.. Throw Out Bearing.. haha

Did you install the steels sharp side up or sharp side down? Also, why didn't you index all the notches on all the fibers in the spot?

motosporttouring the Hinson springs are stronger than stock ones.
You should try stock springs.
Could be as well the cable.
My yz 250 had same issue until I lubed the clutch cable, now it's almost comparable to a hyxfolu
What's the point of the Hinson vs Stock? It seems it's only the basket, hub, springs, and cover which are upgraded?
And the importantly the clutch plates and springs!
You pretty much mentioned the whole clutch assembly 🤣
Do you normally using a steel clutch holding tool on an aluminum part with a impact gun? Don't you run the risk of marking up the aluminum part?
+gixer_1986 they were tossing that part after.. didn't matter
No clutch plate direction?? Sharp side down/up on all of them?
Either way as long as there all the same way
you don't have to torque the springs?
You're supposed to but they didnt on my yfz it's around 7 ft lbs
Anyone have a idea what size drill bit to use on the rivets on the back of the stock basket??
One a little bit smaller then the ribbit
is it ok to have one missing clutch bolt and spring
+Andrey Lukashuk NO!
really.. almost 1000 dollar clutch setup and reuse a 1 dollar lock washer?? that pretty much a 101 what not to do.. the video was stopped there
someone knows what a torque wrench is beside me.
Did he say 33ft lbs
Clean the gear and then toss the plates into that bucket of gritty oil lol.

It goes in the middle. Its the "top hat"
It goes above the locking nut that has to be pried away before the clutch basket can be torqued out
10/10
Thats the flywheel you are grinding! And its balanced and you should never grind at it!

It auto clutch or not ???
