@@HannibalPoptart I couldn't agree more. The game stayed pretty faithful to the original story and made an even greater story out of it in the process.
This boss, this boss was something else. From a fan game that at first seemed to thrash old trends, to original boss fights, to an over arching story that lead to the final showdown, all made in the doom engine, making one of if not the best fan games that somehow took a run and gun game and made it FPS. And this song, it just captures that energy, along with a sense of urgency, followed by a feeling of unstoppable good to put down one of the greatest evils. Truly a masterpiece
These are my thoughts, exactly. MM8BDM was just a fun little FPS with Mega Man characters at first. But then it slowly warped into something TRULY special. The ending of V6 had me popping off and probably nearly tearing up. I don't know how a fangame of all things could make me do that.
Reminder that Maestro went over 4 times the speed of light in a giant mech to punch a -shapeshifting master of darkness- purple ball into the freaking sun.
And got saved by a machine spirit of a doomsday weapon going preumably twice as fast after said -shapeshifting master of darkness- purple ball was destroyed.
I think my favorite touch about this part of the game is what happens with your health bar. While never directly stated in the games, or any other media I'm aware of, the black outline has always felt to me to be the structural integrity of the robot's body and being defeated/defeating the enemy bosses is just blasting them to the point where they can't fight but can still be recovered and brought back; the explanation for extra lives/the refights in wily stages. What's interesting about the player after they're getting back up to continue to fight is that while your Energy refills, the outline has disappeared. Every time you take damage and the energy depletes, there's nothing there to recover once its all gone. Really sells that you're putting everything on the line to win here, do or die.
Daily reminder that Mega Man fangames are awesome and everyone should try them! They are fun, free, and have soundtracks as catchy as the official classic MM bangers.8-bit Deathmatch is one of my personal favourites, was so glad to see that familiar shadow at the end of previous video!
One song I'd like to hear GaMetal do is the Wily Capsule theme from Mega Man Super Fighting Robot. That one has always struck me as an 8-bit version of a power metal song, and I'd like to hear it _as_ a full metal song.
As one of the many people who voted for this on the ballot, I honestly figured I was completely alone in doing so. I never would have expected this song to be popular enough to be among the ballot winners, let alone tied with Kirby music! I'm honestly really proud of the fangame community for this... and grateful to you, Johnny. I'm having kind of a crummy weekend due to sickness, so this was the most perfect mood lifter I could've asked for~!
A lot of Mega Man fans watch Jonny's vids so it makes sense it did well, this is easily the most iconic pair of fanmade songs in the series. (Although that one from perfect blue might overtake them if that game ever gets released but that's neither here nor there atm)
i thought i was alone in voting for it last year, so much so that i voted for something else this year. Needless to say when this happened, i was beyond happy.
Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch is a game that means a ton to me. It made me friends that I've still kept almost a decade later, and it's one of the best Mega Man fangames on the block (which is a pretty competitive area!). Playing the finale with this amazing music was mind-blowing, and it makes me really happy to see this song get covered like this--absolutely outstanding job, thank you dearly for making this.
A Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch song?! I’m not complaining, but that is legitimately surprising to see, especially considering that this was also a major ballot request.
I do believe this is the first time GaMetal covered music from a fangame. This opens the door to many future possibilities! Of course, the songs he decided to cover here are incredible, I can totally see why people would want to see Jonny’s take on them!
"Are you bound by your limitations? or will you continue to fight?" ~Duo Canon or not, Megaman will always have absolute bangers for Jonny to cover Couldn't be happier, as this song is definitely one of the best he has ever made, THE best for Megaman covers, the first fangame cover, AND its a song that is very special to me. Thank you so much dude.
Every time I see that pre-phase 2 cutscene, I always imagine Maestro (the protag’s canon name) yelling “THIS is what I was made for!” as he gets back up for round 2, and your shredding as his eyes “open” only adds to that. Awesome covers, GaMetal!
the mega man fanwork scene consistently pumps out some of the most impressive and enjoyable art, music, stories, and games as love letters to everybody's favourite blue bomber. such an honor to see it be the first fangame represented on the channel, everybody who's contributed to the scene (especially all of the 8bdm developers) deserves the love and recognition. great covers

This cover introduced me to this fangame and I proceeded to binge it in 2 days. Thank you GaMetal, and thank you Cutmanmike and all who worked on this beautiful effort for over 10 years.
Man, I love this song. Both the original AND the cover. Having played since back when the final boss was Gamma in it's old, purple arena- Getting to control Gamma itself for this big finale was exciting beyond belief. Just felt like EVERYTHING in the game was leading to this specific moment. Every bit of work I did, everything. And when it came time for Everlasting Piece... I may have lost my gun. I may have lost so, so much. But for everything that purple freak took from me, I had one Special Weapon left. And unfortunately for Eclipse... I've been missing playing this game for so long ever since my PC stopped working last year, this cover singlehandedly made my entire YEAR! 💖 MegaMan 8-Bit Deathmatch is my favorite fangame and it made me so happy when I saw you'd be covering the final boss theme, it did NOT disappoint in the very slightest! 😊
I still can't believe how far this game came, honestly. It started as such a simple world tournament story, only to end up as a space exploring war against a robot powered by evil itself that just refused to stay down. This is absolutely one of the greatest MegaMan fangames out there, and I'm really glad to see its finale get the attention it truly deserves. From the Yellow Devil in first person to a giant mecha fight against a space station possesed by a robotic devil.
I've followed MM8BDM since its very first public appearance. It's SURREAL seeing how far the game has gotten, and to see something like this made for it. Bless you for this!
Been a player/community member since about 2011, I think. Hearing this is incredibly, incredibly special. Thanks so much for giving us a shoutout with such an amazing cover!
This remix.... This might just be one of my personal favorite GaMetal remixes. It felt so surreal to be armed with the knowledge that Jonny was, at long last, doing a song from a fangame, and what an excellent, EXCELLENT choice for a song. I knew, just KNEW, even before watching the video, that I was going to be in for a good time, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I even teared up a bit during the transition between Thy World Consumed and For Everlasting Peace, it was that good. Never before have I been glad to see a GaMetal remix Thank you Jonny, your work is incredible, and I more than look forward what comes next.
Every time I hear your covers, if my work manages to get made into a game, I want you making my music tracks! IT WILL HAPPEN I SWEAR!!!!! Keep being awesome, keep being metal, you help inspire me to push ever onward, even when cloaked in my despairs. I will not be held back by limitations! I will fight on!
I’ve been waiting for a remix of Thy World Consumed for a very long time since I first heard it in game. So the moment I saw Eclipse’s silhouette from the last video, I knew that undertaking was in good hands. Bra-effing-vo!
It's amazing that this actually managed to tie in top three with Sword of the Surviving Guardian. And tbh it 100% EARNED it. MM8BDM will always hold a spot in my heart as one of my favorite fangames, and this fight honestly sealed the deal for me. The stakes are high, the battleground is cinematic, and both you AND Eclipse are on even ground thanks to Gamma 2.0. It's even fitting both share the same weakness: Close-ranged attacks. And this music to top it all off... The devs really went all out. And so did you, too. Awesome remix, and I'll be looking forward to seeing Team Star in action next time, as well as whatever is left for the ballot!
Well, if you’re doing fangame music now, I’d love to hear your take on Egg Rock act 2 from Sonic Robo Blast 2! The song is already amazingly Metal, I can’t wait to see just how you improve it like you did with this one!
As a long time fan of MM8BDM, you have no idea how happy this makes me... Okay maybe you do but still. I love this. And as I did in the last couple vids... I will ask once again... Please cover Merga's battle theme or the Palace Courtyard stage theme from Freedom Planet 2!
I loved this fangame not just for it's gameplay but its own custom themes, this theme really needed that metal remix treatment and you heavily delivered in spades!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOO Never expected you to touch fangame music but I'm so happy you did. There's an entire treasure trove of music there, especially in the megaman community, and this is one of the big hits for sure. Here's to hoping you check out and cover some more in the future, namely the final boss theme from Megaman Super Fighting Robot since that just might be one of my favorites.
Never in my life would I have expected a fangame I've actually played as a child and absolutely adored to be on here, getting a rock cover by one of the best videogame ost rock arrangers on the whole site, up there with official music (let alone tying on a poll with a song from the latest Kirby game. Damn). And as usual, you covered it amazingly.
And huh, Kartikeya actually had this in his recommended feed. That's weird. This may be an off day (and thus ruin my counter) but 223 of wanting to see Kartikeya's Theme be done by this musical madman.
when you really think about it, the final blow was basically the ultimate "shin shoryuken"... thank you for the remix, you reminded me this game existed and decided to play it again after 5+ years, and boy was I surprised just how much better it gets. this game is an absolute must for any megaman fan
Megaman 8 Bit deathmatch is one of those fangames You know the type, the one that goes above and beyond in every conceivable aspect it's given, this track was proof of that very idea. and your cover... Oh boy your cover. YOU have made the best version of this track I have heard to this day, over two years after V6's release.
Holy shit dude, i had no idea people would get you to cover a song from this game! I've been a fan of MM8BDM since it first came out in... 2010?... god im old lol Seriously to all megaman fans that also enjoy doom style arena shooters, please give this game a shot, its a blast!
I maybe not a long time fan, but MAN do i love this game, specially this part honestly, my favorite boss fight with one of the best themes ever, one that makes you just go full beserk mode, knowing that you are the one that shall bring Everlasting Peace to the world, by destroying the biggest treat everyone ever saw
I remember when V1A came out back in 2010- one of my childhood friends recommended it to me, and as soon as I picked it up, I just couldn't put the damn thing down. I can safely say I would not be who I am today without this absolute gem of a game. I'm so glad it was covered, and I'm so happy it made it so high up on the ballot.
Aw man, I can't believe you done this! Really making me come out from hiding with the teary eyes. Jokes aside, Christmas came a bit early for the MM8BDM community, huh? Representation like this feels like a dream, honestly, a very metal dream, so standing up on behalf of the shyer part of the community, thank you so much for this amazing cover! Like with many, this fangame was a great part of my life, even helping me through some rough patches, and seeing CutmanMike and his team's hard work get some limelight time like this is more than I could ask for, kudos to everyone. Rock on!
Incredible. \m/ Thanks for covering this.

This is an amazing cover, I'd really love to see you cover supernova and temporanomaly too
Never in my life would I have expected a fangame I've actually played as a child and absolutely adored to be on here, getting a rock cover by one of the best videogame ost rock arrangers on the whole site, up there with official music (let alone tying on a poll with a song from the latest Kirby game.
I loved it in the beginning, but the transition into the second half absolutely blew me away.
Megaman 8 Bit deathmatch is one of those fangames
You know the type, the one that goes above and beyond in every conceivable aspect it's given, this track was proof of that very idea.
and your cover...
Oh boy your cover.
YOU have made the best version of this track I have heard to this day, over two years after V6's release.
Finally a great remix of Thy World Consumed!
Amazing work as always!
The greatest finale to a Mega Man game
Thy world was indeed consumed.
And so was my hype for this song.
I NEVER THOUGHT THIS SONG WOULD EVER BE REMIXED BY YOU THIS SHIT IS BALLIN'
I somehow knew if I looked you'd be in these comments lol
Holy shit dude, i had no idea people would get you to cover a song from this game!
I've been a fan of MM8BDM since it first came out in... 2010?... god im old lol
Seriously to all megaman fans that also enjoy doom style arena shooters, please give this game a shot, its a blast!
GGs! Surprised this managed to be tied with a titan like Kirby when it comes to GaMetal requests. Very glad it did, though! This is siiick.
I maybe not a long time fan, but MAN do i love this game, specially this part
honestly, my favorite boss fight with one of the best themes ever, one that makes you just go full beserk mode, knowing that you are the one that shall bring Everlasting Peace to the world, by destroying the biggest treat everyone ever saw
i've been part of this game's community since about mid-2012. listening to this cover put a big ole smile on my face. good work (:
I remember when V1A came out back in 2010- one of my childhood friends recommended it to me, and as soon as I picked it up, I just couldn't put the damn thing down. I can safely say I would not be who I am today without this absolute gem of a game. I'm so glad it was covered, and I'm so happy it made it so high up on the ballot.
HELL YEAH! This getting the recognition it deserves! As it sounds amazing too! I am super delighted.
Really excited for the next one 👀
Aw man, I can't believe you done this! Really making me come out from hiding with the teary eyes.
Jokes aside, Christmas came a bit early for the MM8BDM community, huh? Representation like this feels like a dream, honestly, a very metal dream, so standing up on behalf of the shyer part of the community, thank you so much for this amazing cover! Like with many, this fangame was a great part of my life, even helping me through some rough patches, and seeing CutmanMike and his team's hard work get some limelight time like this is more than I could ask for, kudos to everyone.
Rock on!
