Those are all some good setups. I want to add to this list based on personal experience and witness experience, the Abu Garcia vengeance MH rod paired with either a Abu silver/black max. 3-4K reel, lews xfinity reel, or pflueger president reel. I’ve personally witnessed everything from panfish to trophy class catfish landed on the vengeance rod with any of those reels.

The speed spin Mach 1 is trash! I bought one for my father and it's been to the lews warehouse 4 times. They rebuilt it, that didn't work, then they replaced it and it's still grinding! Pfluger is the way to go, they can take a beating and still perform amazing no matter what model!
I owned a Pflueger President combo and sold it. It cannot take a beating, but it's an ok combo. I like the Daiwa rg-ab reel way, way better than the Pflueger president. That being said, I do own a president limited edition which is the same internally as the president xt. They are way better than the standard president. I have heard great things about Lew's until your comment, but I understand. Y'all had a very bad experience. A lot of people love the Berkley Lightning Rod Shock, and mine broke the rod tip on the second cast. I returned it for an Ugly Stik Lite Pro.

Pflueger presidential spinning rod combo is no longer under a hundred bucks. What a difference three years makes. I see comments made three years ago. The Pflueger presidential is now $109 at Cabela's.

American Outlaw let me double check that for you really quick! Last I heard they were running the sale until the end of them month, but I could have missed something because I just got out of a 9 day training exercise where I didn't have my phone or laptop.

What about the Ugly Stick GX2 combo? I believe I just saw walmart had them for 30 or 35$. ones I saw had the GX235 reel and it looked like there were a few choices of length/action?

And I've got a couple AH combos and rods, I've never had an issue. One of my Go-To set ups is a 13 Fishing concept A on a 7' MH American Hero rod. Best combo I own!
I havr the GX2 combo and as a mild fisherman it does me good until recently when the reel Handel snaped in half mid retrive, thats what cheap plastic gets you.
If you buy a ugly stick go with the lite pro series. Much more sensitive and a better overall rod. The Shakespeare reels that come on the GX2 combos are junk though.
Sreejith Nair I absolutely love it. The drag is nice, it cast very very well, and can handle pulling a 3-4ft shark half way up a pier. If I’m not mistaken its a 3k size reel.
It really make upset me when I oppend the parcel.reel size is 2500.very thin rod.the line capacity they mentioned on rod was 6, to 14 lb.i canceld that product from amazone.i brought pen battil 4000 reel.can you sujest a good rod for that.

KAZAZPlayz the Penn Slammer is super good, or if you want to spend some extra money (not necessary) the Shimano SW Twin power is one of the nicest I’ve ever used.
The lews american hero is trash it has a lot of flex on the body and it makes a loud noise on the gears and the plfuger president should be better than the lews. I have both
