Media are terrible. They act like "terrible two" year olds. NTSB answered same question 4 times. While repeating: "we are still waiting for data. We're trying to find answers. We're here today to give our data against social media hysteria (paraphrased)."
You just like him because he brought up East Palestine and that's code for he's anti Democrat. He's a liar and Trump planted him into the press conference and told him to lie.
With respect, I disagree. NTSB gave the same info 4 times, but it did not answer the question. CRJ's data shows collision at 325' (+/1 25'). Tower shows helo at 200'. What NTSB did not say is what altitude did the tower radar show for the CRJ? Both of those numbers cannot be accuraate at time of collision, so further data and analysis is needed. But media wanted to hear: what altitude was tower radar showning for CRJ? The answer is either. "We don't know." or a specific number...NTSB didn't give either answer.
So much focus on the altitude of the CRJ at impact. The CRJ was CLEARED for the approach and on a final descent profile DESCENDING. Whether the helicopter hits the CRJ at 400ft 300ft 200ft 100ft or even in the flare it doesn’t matter and should NOT happen. Bottom line is that a helicopter was flying with VISUAL SEPARATION at night on the final approach path of a passenger airliner. I don’t care that it’s Washington or how long they’ve gotten away with this procedure without an accident, this is complete madness and should NOT be allowed anywhere.
If we know with a high degree of certainty the altitude of the CRJ was 300' +/- 25' at the point of collision, then we know the altitude of the helicopter as well. They have to be the same +/- the dimensions of the aircraft. So no matter what the ATC radar said, the helicopter was not at 200'. Both the CRJ and the helicopter were no lower than 300', meaning the helicopter was at least 100' above its allowed altitude. There's one human error. The helicopter crew was almost certainly looking at the wrong aircraft. Second human error. The controller called the helicopter a second time to verify he saw the CRJ, indicating that he had some doubt. As soon as he had doubt, he should have taken control of the helicopter and vectored it clear. Third human error. Correcting any one of these could have saved 67 lives.
I heard it was a training flight, we are dealing with professionals here who know ceiling heights are critical in crowded air space. It is beyond me how this could happen if you were focused. You know when approaching the airport you have to be no higher than 200 feet in that air space.

The issue arises from being unable to clarify what is known verified fact at this time vs what isn't. Instead of clearing confusion (assuming that is intended) he is exacerbating it, and that doesn't help anyone.

I commend these gentlemen. Their goal is safety and saving lives. Too often their recommendations fall victim to bureaucratic BS and political nonsense
All the confusion is because initially he misspoke and did not clarify the 300 elevation and the 200 elevation represented the airplane and the helicopter, respectively. He made it seem like they were both the airplane and they were conflicting numbers that they did not yet understand.
.. this type of stuff will only stop happening if we stopped calling these things "ACCIDENTS" .. An "accident" is an unintentional event that causes harm or damage, usually without any criminal intent, while a "crime" is a deliberate act that VIOLATES THE LAW and can be punishable by legal means, meaning someone acted with intent or reckless DISREGARD for the law any defender needs to be accountable for their own self- will..♻️¿⚖️?✂️
The helicopter should have been stopped north of the airport until the crj landed. Just a unsafe ATC procedure to allow a helicopter in the vicinity of a landing airline jet. ATC insanity.
I was amazed by the timeliness of NTSB sharing their latest findings and facts about the accidents, without waiting for the final investigation to complete. While media and the public might draw their own conclusions may or may not be correct, sharing facts and progress in the investigation is critical. I think President Trump played a role in making sure information is released quickly. This is a huge contrast to China Eastern's crash, almost 3 years later we have almost zero information.
This information is provided because Trump advocates for complete transparency. To those criticizing Trump's stance on DEI, do you want the most qualified individuals in these positions or not? Merit-based hiring benefits everyone.
I am so thankful for these professionals. Their objectivity and intelligence are not what we are used to hearing from the press. These men and their colleagues are doing legit work while reporters are looking for an angle or a "scoop" or a "Pulitzer." Even their questions indicate they did not listen closely to what either of the spokespersons said during the briefing. Reporters no longer report only facts. They report their own opinions, and then chose the only the facts ithat supports those opinions. I'll take a briefing like this over "the news" any day of the week.

READ CAREFULLY With regard to altitude: He gave the indicated altitude for the CRJ based on ADSB data (transmitted from the planes transponder inside the plane) and the FDR data (which is inside a box inside the plane)325 ft plus or minus 25 ft: He gave the altitude for the blackhawk from the radar scope inside the tower indicating an altitude of 200 ft as the controller looks at it on his scope. What DID NOT get asked and I think the reporters were trying to ask was: What was the indicated altitude on the radar scope inside the tower for the CRJ as the controller looks at it on his scope. There is always lag time when it comes to reporting data from the aircraft to any radar scope. This is not unusual or uncommon. Bottom line, if the CRJ's FDR was indicating 325 ft plus or minus 25 ft at the time of impact, the blackhawk was at the same relative altitude.
You notice that reporter wasn't doing their job of listening the first four times their first question got asked. They stupidly asked another question that was already covered, because they have too much DEI-wax in their ears.
Why go through this charade ? Everybody knows what happened. NTSB can cleanse this forever but it won't change the facts. These guys have gone through so much. What is it with these reporters asking the same questions over and over are they that stupid?
I commend these gentlemen. Their goal is safety and saving lives. Too often their recommendations fall victim to bureaucratic BS and political nonsense

Nicole Saphier is a gem. She knows a lot about a lot of things. And her presentation skills are so good.
All the confusion is because initially he misspoke and did not clarify the 300 elevation and the 200 elevation represented the airplane and the helicopter, respectively. He made it seem like they were both the airplane and they were conflicting numbers that they did not yet understand.
He could not speak a proper sentence. Eg "In The Cab" In the Cab of what? "The radar" the radar of what?
This has been very well presented.....
Clarification of this mid air collision has been updated, communication defined.....Thank you ....
.. this type of stuff will only stop happening if we stopped calling these things "ACCIDENTS" ..
An "accident" is an unintentional event that causes harm or damage, usually without any criminal intent, while a "crime" is a deliberate act that VIOLATES THE LAW and can be punishable by legal means, meaning someone acted with intent or reckless DISREGARD for the law any defender needs to be accountable for their own self- will..♻️¿⚖️?✂️
Oh my gosh these reporters are annoying
The helicopter should have been stopped north of the airport until the crj landed. Just a unsafe ATC procedure to allow a helicopter in the vicinity of a landing airline jet. ATC insanity.
Horrible tragedy so we know the helicopter was flying too high and path seems erratic but I’m no expert
Why not ask the most obvious question - How does the helicopter pilot know what CRJ the traffic controller is referring to?
Thankfully our great leader has already decided what happened. Sack all the experts and ask the great leader to rule.

Goodness the poor man must be nervous- plowing through that water. Good info so far. Praying we get all answers and soon.
NO MILITARY EXERCISES/TRAINING IN HELICOPTERS SHOULD EVER BE PERFORMED ANYWHERE NEAR A CIVILIAN AREA LITTLE LONG AN AIRPORT!? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE OK? And with deferent radio frequency Uhf/Vhf between communications of the air crafts theme selves? Awful.
Are these reporters morons, or they just being deliberately obtuse?
Moron questioners need to listen to the previous answers before harassing the NTSB presenter with the same question already answered...
Military “training” missions should not be located anywhere near a busy airport!! I seem to recall hearing about several other military plane crashes during these “training” sessions.
This is truly tragic and my prayers go out to the families of these passengers and military personnel who lost their lives 🙏
Shouldn't need night vision goggles , should be able to look out the window and see a well lighted jet coming at you and pull up
Not hearing anything from the Army other than releasing the name of two crewman’s. Not releasing the name of the pilot.
26:18 - The four to five second delay was the radar scope of the ATC, as he indicated, the delay in updates is the radardish doing a sweep/rotation.
You notice that reporter wasn't doing their job of listening the first four times their first question got asked. They stupidly asked another question that was already covered, because they have too much DEI-wax in their ears.
I’m just curious as to why the helicopter altitude went from 200ft to 340ft in the last 30 seconds leading to the collision.
Because the helicopter pilot was told to fly behind the CRJ but was not told which aircraft is the CRJ.
@@dsdigitalsurfing8563 Thank you.
Why go through this charade ? Everybody knows what happened. NTSB can cleanse this forever but it won't change the facts. Until Helo traffic is precluded from using this route the threat to civilians will continue. Looks like DJT needs to take a serious look at the situation and take appropriate steps. The human factor will be there as long as this continues. Lives will be in danger. Let's throw some Common Sense at this issue.
He was informative, and the press did it's job.
So NOT mentally and physically disabled, trans, DEI, black pilots, but MOST LIKELY human error leading to this shocking tragedy. 😢
The presenter was disabled by having the inability to speak clear full sentences
Why is a helicopter even there? 200 ft 300 ft is nothing its 1 football field between them on approach.
